The character's leaping off the bridge into the river are Blackhearted's GND2 and Jim Burton's Glamorous Vickie 3. Both are Victoria 3 based characters. The landscape is from UltraScenery, two landscapes duplicated next to each other to give a depth of countryside and the plant generation was masked to prevent grass growing up through the Rotunda steps. The way I got the area to mask was to take a top view & trace the rotunda step shapes as a monochrome mask image. Much more efficient than my previous attempts at calculating where it all was.

Richard
Thanks for letting us use your old softwareI have been using two versions of Victoria 3 in DS 4.21, so Victoria 4.2 should work.

Richard

I use Carrara. It can handle Daz characters and props natively (Vicky & Mike 1-6). It can also handle Poser people (Poser 3-7). Props, buildings, cars, etc work fine in Carrara. This includes many new buildings & props. It has a powerful animation system built in and you can also use aniblocks. It has a batch render function that allows you to set up a series of renders at one time. Set it & forget it.I have been using it for years and will keep using it. It's available here in the Daz marketplace. Thanks I'll also do some tests in Carrara, but you mean you can only use natively the older versions of victoria and michael but not 7 and 8? that's a shame
with a few tweaks in DAZ studio you can use genesis 9 in Carrara https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/597316/genesis-9-we-are-back-in-the-game-carrara-users
you can load the fixed duf characters shared in that thread too if you don't want to open DAZ studio but you will need to repeat the process (Blended weights saved as character or clothing preset) if you want it dressed not nude

Wait, we can install and use older versions of DAZ Studio? Which one is the newest one that will load Victoria 4 instead of a bunch of colorless blocks or invisible forms you can pose?
I tested Victoria 4.2 in Studio version 4.21.0.5 and she works fine. But it is a Poser-type figure, and must be loaded as "Poser Formats" in the Content library.
I loaded Victoria 4.2 into DS 4.15 from Smart Content.

Yes, if you have the install file and serial number. I download the install files for everything in my Product Library. I have Daz Studio 4.21 on my newer laptop and 4.15 on an older laptop. I just loaded Victoria 4.2 into the 4.15 version. The system won't let me attach the screen shot, however.

IceScribe's Efforts in ArtI just want to feel that same awe as when I looked at Art of my choice, not of my parents or teachers, nor my friends. But I like to think that age has little to do with Art. Sure popular subjects and styles continue onward, yet, I have discovered some fantastic contemporary artists in the genre of hyper realism, but I dare say, because of the topic of their paintings do verge on Magic Realisn, to me. Why does that genre fascinate me? It's more real than surreal. I'm not a fan of Chagall's works, and preferred Dali's painstakingly realism to his dream content. But, I also like Norman Rockwell's work, Andrew and N.C. Wyeth, and others in that vein. I like the 'normal' tinged with a bit of mystery, of inconguity, of the presence of spirit, not bizarre or grotesque, so no Bosch either. I like that moment when doing something ordinary, but something in perception shifts, the world is glimpsed differently, even if others don't notice. Yeah, that particular. Meanwhile, I stare at the DAZ studio window, and wonder for inspiration. I get going, and "thwap" something doesn't work or is missing or just plain crashes. I get tired. And, that is a very serious thing. I used to fire up with goodly amounts of coffee, but now I'm told by doc to severely cut back. It's like trying to remember something just near my eye, but it's dim. But I'll keep on, with a pillow nearby. Here's attached a sketch render of Victoria 9 with Cowboy braids in Edritch shirt. Ack, pose taken from a DAZ vendor, but I forgot to note it. I will. Oh, that's not Edritch shirt, texture too smooth. It's from a cowboy outfit. See, old.
There's Always Another Sale Thread -- Discussions OnlyI just wanted to note that about the only thing that had me slightly excited in this year's June Daz+ sale was the extra discount for wishlist items. The extra 30-40% off was enough to get me to clear a few items off of my wishlist. If it hadn't been for that and one other moment last month, I would have mostly bypassed this year's June Daz+ sale altogether.
I'm already on the record as saying that I thought that the whole token thing was punishing longtime customers that now shop occasionally instead of daily. There's still stuff that a lot of us 'older' customers may want, but we also remember the deals of years past.
I for one am glad that tokens are now gone, and am hoping that they stay gone, in favor of more straightforward sales/discounts. And I hope that this year's October Daz+ sale is more like the one we had in October 2022 instead of what just happened.
I also have noted that despite being a regular customer over the last few years, that there were a few offers that others received in recent weeks that I did not. This again goes back to my comments before that as someone that's been shopping the Daz3D.com store for close to a decade now, that as a somewhat 'longtime' customer (there are longtime customers that have been her since the Victoria 1 days hence I don't quite feel right calling myself a longtime customer), I just wish that the Daz marketing team would show a little more appreciation for those of us that have been shopping here for a while now, and take our needs into account when building new sales.
Sure, I get that they want to attract new customers too with shiny new offers, but us longer term customers have helped pay many salaries at Daz, as well as supported numerous PAs over the years since it's beginning, and it'd be nice if us 'long term' customers weren't left in the dust in favor of whatever the latest sales/marketing fad is.
And, I'll request one more time, although this almost always falls on deaf ears, going forward KISS (Keep It Simple S*****) please! The more straightforward the sale is, the more willing a number of us will be to support said sales!
Oh and if you want to get people really excited, well I miss the days of 30-40% or more gift cards. These were rare, and it sounds like there was a glitch this week that I missed, but this is money that Daz can get 'up front' from us, and I'm more willing to spend store credit than to pull out my Credit Card, so a really decent gift card sale usually gets me hopping, and while 20% off (today's gift card sale) is better than nothing, we've had much better offers in the past, 'longer term' customers do remember such things.
Oh, and inflation is still a thing! People are watching their pennies more closely these days, including us Daz customers! We have less money to spare on Daz stuff, just like pretty much everyone else, so kindly adjust offers accordingly please!
My two cents.
Miraheze and Daz/Poser Freebies? Not miraculous but labor intensive. I read the readmes to find clues to creator's old websites. When I find one I not only look for free stuff on the site but look through the 3D content creator link list to find others. Then you can use the wayback machine to look for web sites of some of the more active creators such as Runtime DNA or aerysoul. They changed their domain names back in the early days or had a second website in tandum with their main site. I know how a teasure hunter feels when they find something. Take artist Jamie Cordell, digital.intoxication: the.digital.artwork.of.jamie.cordell (archive.org). Jamie's outfit is fetish but with Jepe's Sample Sheetz for V4, (Free Sample SheetZ For Victoria 4 by jepegraphics on DeviantArt ) you can make a lovely battle queen. I found Jamie's site through the above process. Then when I looked on the wiki there was his stuff already listed. It is a wonderful place for getting back some of the old content.
Getting on the 9 train, or notTo be fair, I wasn't convinced by the unimesh approach to begin with. However, I bought some G9 characters to judge:
Victoria 9 (beautiful face, strange breasts)
Freja 9 (more realistic than Freja 8)
Olympia 9 (better than Olympia 8, close to Olympia 7)
Kiri 9 (not as good as Mika 7 or Mika 8)
Angela 9 (not bad, but I prefer Monique 8, Jada 8.1, ...)
Michael 9 (better than Michael 8.1)
Nathan 9 (ok, but not Dylan)
Lawrence 9 (too short, not as good as Trance 8.1, Tyrone 8, Lewis 8)
What has been suggested with G9 being unimesh was more male clothes, but except for the Eldritch Seeker and, with issues, the Adventure Style Outfit, there haven't been any outstanding ones. I have issues with the Adventure Style Outfit because of the zippers on the boots.
dForce hair for G9 - not a lot. But a lot of painted body hair with the male characters.
I made a decision to stop buying Genesis 9 characters. Hairs and clothing only if they fit G8 or G8.1 as well.
Where do you stand?

I like every generation of Daz figures. Everything from the V4/M4 era and newer is a great figure, in my opinion, and I have had great results no matter which I choose. I just use what I like for the particular scene. If it's Victoria 4 in one scene, and Michael 7 in another, or both in the same scene, who cares? I like them all.
You've been kinda silent, release-wise. I wish you'd make more stuff. You are one of my favorite vendors and definitely underrated, I think, because you're so versatile. Anyway, thanks.
+1
Can I make that a +100?
FWIW, I am not tied to any one generation. Will use what I need, when I need it. And I bought into MD, now if I could just find the time to really dig in and learn it.
