Can Hair for G3 be fit to G2?
Great! I saw a new hair for G3 that I really liked, and haven't taken the Victoria 7 plunge yet.
I saw your sig banner for Blender and visit your DeviantArt page - very nice work. I am considering using Blender as a modeling tool. Have you had experience importing/exporting to and from Daz Studio?
Mila's hair? The Blink Sale....There are lots of times I am asleep or at work and miss out on things, but it never crosses my mind to complain about it, hmmmmm
Well, Which is worse, complaining in the forums about something or complaining about the complaining on a thread complaining about something in the forums? Or is it the complaining about the complaint in the complaint thread that is complaining about the complaint thread in the forums?
Or is it the Complaint about complaining about a complaint that was lodged against the complaint about the complaint in the tread that is complaining about the complaint in the thread that is complaining in the forums? Wait, What? I'm lost now.
Anywho, this wasn't really a complaint thread nor was I really complaining about the sales in the first place, but as the goal of most sales is to increase sales, I was merely offering some suggestions to improve sales while not altering the fundamentals of the sales in the first place. I was simply noticing that from the timing of the sales, the principle target of the sales appears to be Greenland or some other Mid-Atlantic island, and it seems strange that, assuming Europe and the US/Canada are the primary users of Daz, you would want to limit those people who can partake in the sales by limiting them to hours that many people find difficult to participate. By simply repeating the sales once, you would double the exposure to the sales and increase sales during the sales significantly, while mostly maintaining the Blink sale concept, because if you could partake in the sale the first time round, odds are 8 hrs later, you would need to sleep/work/be elsewhere. All this is of course assuming Daz is trying to increase sales.
While a number of people support a full countdown clock, some have suggested that this would actually work against the concept of the frenzy purchase of the blink sale, However, a five or ten minute warning banner would likely increase the frenzy of the last minute purchase. How many people came to the forums after a cart full of stuff became full price? How many more did not? I missed some items, and I simply emptied my cart, oh well, next time. Having this happen will make some ignore future blink sales as well. How many more sales would they have made if a red flashing banner saying you have five minutes left to check out appeared as you were shopping? As for third party apps, and counters... Well, Daz clocks seem to get their time from some alternate dimension, where minute become hours, days become weeks, and weeks become hours, I don't necessarily trust that the apps clocks are going to match Daz clocks.
Now to be fully honest, I picked up a couple items off the Blink sales that I had not seen on sale before, but for the most part, I was not upset by any missed sale as 60% off is basically my bare bones minimum to get excited over. and for some items such as the Victoria 4 items, I have seen much better sales at 70->80->90% off. and anything I missed will be back again at some point in the future.
I have only asked for a refund once in all my time at DAZ and it was due to the product not working. (I wish they would lose that policy since I am sure it is abused by some)
I think Daz losing their return policy would be a very bad idea for Daz. Over the last 6 months I've dumped about $800.00 into Daz (Yikes! it sounds worse when you type out like that). Of that $800.00, approximately $200.00 was on things I wasn't sure about, things that I was only willing to take a chance on because "Well, If it doesn't work, I can return it." Of that only 3 items have been returned, 2 because they were so out of date, they simply didn't work, and 1 because I missed the "for Carrara only", for a total of about $40, which I spent on other things. While some people probably abuse the return policy, removing it will only punish those who don't. (on second thought, removing the return policy might help me limit how much I spend, so go for it)
Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it... Have a great day all.

Frustrated by the Content Library (AGAIN)My CMS only shows some things in Smart Content. A lot of new stuff is missing.
For example, Aiko 6 is smart content, yet the DUF shows up with a yellow-bordered box with yellow triangle like this: ---> !
A re-import of metadata did not fix the problem. Aiko 6 is only one of many...DS 4.8.0.59 also cannot find critical pieces-parts such as Genesis 2 Female, Victoria 6, and many many more.
Half of the products in my library are installed to...
P:/Animation Library/
....and the other half referencing....
P:/Animation Library/My DAZ 3D Library/
The former is wrong. The latter is the correct and intended library, but now I seem to have a mess of nested folders; half at the higher (wrong) level, and the other half at the lower (correct) level. I tried to use DIM to uninstall stuff, but it can't see the products that are not in the "active" diectory path and so it would omit uninstalling the half of my library that it can't see.
I need help. I've kept all of my download packages in DIM so no re-download should be needed. I'm willing to completely blast away both folder structures above and re-install all content. I'm even willing to completely purge DS 4.8.0.59 and reinstall it too if that will help. I'm not worried about losing any special categorizations or shortcuts, and I have backups in case I lose any renders or works in progress.
What is the best way to do a complete reset on my library so that I can get out of this half-n-half situation?
Problem loading a figure, mac platformI've recently installed DAZStudio, the G2 starter kit, and Victoria 6 using the installer. When I try and activate Victoia6 or any figure in DAZStudio, I get an error message. (See attachment.) When I proceed, I get a figure of blocks
I've tried to reinstall the components, but I get similar results. I go to containing folders of the unloaded files and the files are in there, but not being recognized. I can't get any of the G2 base figures to load. Any suggestions?

Black Is Beautiful IIHere is my first serious attempt at a darker skin, made for the new user contes July with the topic portrait she is a Grace for Victoria 4.2 with a the darker skin tone and self dialed features, so nothing really new. I added a ubersurface to her skin to get the velvet shine and darkened the irises, no makeup option.
What Prompts Your Decision To Buy (Or Not Buy) A Figure?I find the whole sexist market thing a little confusing. Even if you are doing porn, at least some of the characters are male. Cheesecake supers stuff, you still generally have men running around being victims or villains or sidekicks or whatever.
And particularly for modern day stuff, you need a fair amount of content like suits and stuff.
Unless the market is overwhelmingly 'sexy shots of women by themselves,' you'd think, even assuming the worst, people would still have a big need for male figures and outfits.
I would like to see more male figures, especially faces. One of the things I've always tried to do is make sure that my characters' faces are distict from each other. I've seen too many comics (my preferred genre) where the artist knows how to do 1 male face and figure, and 1 female; the only real distiction between characters is the clothing. I do get a lot of mileage from various morph packs, but it's nice to have a good variety of faces and bodies to use as bases.
One thing I look for is figures that have more than just one body and face; Mal3M3dia's products are good in this regard. I have noticed that as we've progressed through the generations, the iconic figures have come with less in the way of morphs. Stephanie 4 had 9 variations included, She-Freak 4 had 8 heads and 4 bodies. Michael 5 had 2 additional bodies, Victoria 5 had 1 extra body. Freak 5 had one additional body, but 5 additional heads. He was probably the last one I saw who had that many additional morphs. It just seems to me that I'm getting more for my money when a product comes with a variety of options. It seems to me that the base figures should each come with several faces to cover the 'basic' racial groups, and several skin textures to go along with them. That could really be helpful in the case of Genesis 3, where older skin textures can't be used.
Saving aniamtion frames automaticallyIf I'm understanding your query correctly, you'd like to render an entire scene via individual frames saved to a separate folder. Easy. The first thing I do is place the aniblock into the proper alignment into the Animate2 timeline. Make sure it's on the same level as your Victoria character. In DAZ Studio 4.8 select : "Render Settings". Then click "General." Then select Render type: "Image Series." Below that is Render Range: Start on "0" and end on "90"--this'll give you a 3 second animation. Below Render Range is "Series Base"--here, give your image series a name, like "Cartwheel." Next is "Series Base." Here, pick a folder you'd like to send your rendered images to.
And that's basically it. Hit, "Render." And in fifteen to thirty minutes you should have 90 individual in the folder you selected earlier. The images should be labeled: "Cartwheel001", "Cartwheel002", Cartwheel003" and so on.
I think the reason why you have 90 frames of the same image is that you probably didn't select the Render Range and adjust your animation time from there. This is crucial.
Also, I do 99.9% of my DAZ Studio Animations from within Animate2--I seldom use the Timeline. In Timeline (completely separate from Animate2), you have to make certain that you move that really small, difficult to see, 'end of frame marker' down the Timeline to the right and away from the frame zero. Animate2 also has a so-called, 'end of frame marker', but it's so big, it's really hard to miss. I hope this information helps.

Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part IVMy latest one:
Victoria 7 - Underwear Model
Rendered in Daz Studio 4.8 with Iray, no post-work.
Saving aniamtion frames automaticallyI set up a figure with an aniblock and opened up the timeline. Initially, I moved the timeline frame by frame and rendered and saved each frame manually. How can I automate the process so that when Victoria does a cartwheel, I can save each of the frames of the cartwheel to a directory. automatically via the Renderer. I selected Image Series in the Render window but all the frames are the same. Obviously, I have to render the frames and record them somehow. Not sure how.
What generation is V5?Like all things it depends on who you ask
Gen 1 to Gen 4 are the Millennium series of base figures for Poser, now only two base figures are present in all four generations, the Millennium Man (Michael) and the Millennium Woman (Victoria).
We haven't had a 5th Generation of the Millennium series so no more V & M base figures, so continuity has ended (and marketing hates that as it usually means they have to start over).
what we have instead is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Generation of the Genesis series of base figures for DS.
To keep continuity going marketing started slapping 5th gen tags on some of their character morph sets, and they have just carried that on with 6 and 7.
Can't say as I blame them really, the R&D costs on the Genesis figures as well as DS4+ aren't cheap, yet they have given us them all for free, so that's a large cash hole they need to fill in some how.
Genesis Textures and Skins on G2Do you have "Victoria 4 for G2F"? I believe that also allows V4 UVset to work on G2M (for .duf presets, which these are).
I am not using anythign for V4 it is for Genesis. I do have V4 for G2F and M4 for G2M... except this is a Genesis texture
Genesis uses multiple UVs, and the one selected by default when you load it is V4 UVs. So it's totally possible that a texture made for Genesis does use V4 UVs.

All of those 7 characters... kinda of confusing....pointless tooOkay I'll state my peace.
I'm too vested in gensis 2 characters now to bother with genesis 3 , there is no tools to make older genderations compatiable with g3f so why bother.
I am still investing in genesis 2 figures & items when i can find them. which has taken me a while to learn to use them properly in animation. and I really would like to see more mainstream Male items instead of all this sleeze wear for females., g3f just don;t interest me. if the clothing were compatiable with g2f I may be intersted in buying some of the items but at this point i don't even bother looking anymore at anything gensis 3 female. its not a insult to g3f figures its just not what I want to be vested in at this point in time. gensis 2 is a really nce characterbesides what will it be about 8 or 9 months and victoria 8 will be out :)
Bethany 7 updates Victoria 7?Which character? Have you tried reinstalling that character in case the file was inadvertently altered? If it's loading with a non-zero value on a fresh install, using the base Genesis 3 Female and Victoria 7 presets, that would be a bug and should be reported.
