I am confused about something.  I have Genesis, G2 and G3.  It was my understanding that where Genesis was concerned that even though the morphs may not work if I do not have that particualr Victoria or Stephanie or whatever for that particular Genesis version, I should still be able to use the textures from those characters.  I have two characters for Genesis, the Gaby for V5 and Keira for Stephanie 5.  Should the textures not still work on Genesis even if I don't  have those morphs, since both are actually a morph of Genesis?

For the tribal one in the middle, I just recolored Monique in Photo-Paint to a dark, almost black color (around 25, 21, 21 the skin itself) and painted on it the tribal signs. I used diffuse color 206, 206, 206, spec 1 is 164, 185, 196 and spec 2 is 195, 210, 200.

The second image - I used the original Monique skin, but I changed the diffuse color in DS from white to a darker grey and changed the translucency color to a salmon-like color.

and here is another example for Dark Skin - I know this is not exactly real, but if I have no dark skin, I create one playing with diffuse color and translucency color. Not perfect, not too realistic, but better than nothing :) And you can play with the colors, because dark skins have so many beautiful tones.

 

This one below is for Genesis 3 Female - Victoria 7 skin (Iray) playing with translucency color (middle dark brown) and strong value.

As long as you're taking notes ... if you plan to use that method for an upcoming G3 character you plan to sell, if it's meant to be realistic, you might want to check out Kickair's Palm and Sole Masks at ShareCG. Having darker palms and soles looks completely unrealistic.

You need to MAKE that character with that dark skin, I would snap her up without a thought! Especially that one you showed as an example. WOW... I want all three - I have Marie for V4 already... and I have Zena as well... but I want that one that is really dark. They are amazing!

A) If this is in the wrong forum I apologize. CAn you tell which would be the correct one,

B) I'm looking to commission (for cash) one (possibly more) head morphs of people I know or in my family. The model being used is Victoria 4/Michael 4. I can supply multiple photo references, but as this project is supposed to be a surprise it would be difficult to get properly posed portraits etc. Use of Market textures and hair is fine, just let me know which ones are used so I can purchase them myself. If you have examples of your work as well as your price for said commission(per head) that would be much appreciated.

I also just started to use GenX2.  I want to transfer a Genesis Character to a Genesis 2 Female but it's not working. 

 

Here's my steps:
Source: Genesis
Load Figure:  I dragged the icon for the desired character into the Transfer tab.  I  opened up the regions and saw that there were numerical values there.
Mode: Create Single Morph.
Target: Genesis 2 Female
Transfer: On for All Non-Zero Values
Output Folder: Where I want the morph to go.  [picture: GenX Screen 01]
In Morph Properties:  I named my morph and chose the same icon as the original. 
Accept.  [picture: GenX Screen 02]

I loaded Victoria 6, when to my desginated folder, found my new icon and tried to load the morph, and nothing happened.  Under Shaping, Actor, Generation X, People, the only icon available is the standard Genesis morph.   [picture: GenX Screen 03]

So, what did I do wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong, exactly, but the two steps highlighted in bold, above, are parts of different processes.

What you did was to make a morph slider instead of a preset. "Create Single Morph" doesn't make a preset or use a folder. If you want a clickable preset, you need to use the "create preset" option, which will put a file in your desired directory. (I have no idea wht it actually put in your directory -- with "create single morph", it shouldn't have put anything there.)

If you put an unmorphed Genesis 2 Female into your scene, go to the Parameters tab, click on "All", then type in the name of your morph, it should appear. You can then activate it by sliding it so that as much of your morph appears as you want.

All that said ... I've found transfers from Genesis to Genesis 2 to be periodically really ... finnicky, for lack of a better word. You may discover that it transferred a morph that doesn't seem to work. If that's the case, you need to put a fully morphed Genesis figure into an empty scene, bring up GenX2, choose "Get values from figure in scene", followed by "All: Transfer non-zero values". I don't know why it sometimes needs to work that way, but it does.

BTW that is not only a problem for new generation figures G2F/G3F and G2M also Michael 4 has less clothes and stuff than Victoria 4.2

Am I going mad?  I bought 'DG Up Close - Portrait Studio Poses for Genesis 3 Female(s) and Victoria 7' earlier today (Sept 7), as it was in the New Featured section.  Now it's not there (same day) and I haven't earned a rev-up.  I'm sure it was there, I would never have soughit it out otherwise.  I'm going to lie down in a dark room, this is all too much for me...

It is still there - uncheck Hide Products I Own and you should see it. It should earn a Rev, if not please open a support ticket for Sales.

Hi, I really want to thank you guys for all your efforts, but nothing seems to work. What figure I am working with isn't real important, just as long as it's a real world figure. Is it possible for me to purchase something from Daz what you are using?

Like Jonstark, I use imported Aniblocks in Carrara 8.5 Pro with the Generation 4 characters, e.g. Michael 4.  I've had no problems.  The M4 Base figure is $30 currently here at DAZ (probably goes on sale at times), and there is a starter bundle for $50 which includes the very nice Morphs++ ($30 list) plus some hair, skin maps and clothes (I assume the same is available for Victoria 4).  Yes, its an older product but there are a LOT of affordable addons available both here at DAZ and at many other websites.  I do not use the Genesis figures since I own a lot of Gen4 items, and also I hear of many problems in Carrara.

I saw the Queens of the Savanna on sale and was wondering the exact same thing. Are those skin tones built from the Dark Skin Merchant Resource Texture Kit? Or Skin Builder?

Interesting... If you use that to fit the V4.2 London texture onto the G2F model what UVs does it say you're using? I assume it lists the UV as V4, rather than converting it to a G2F UV? Or am I totally wrong?
