Did someone call her an elephant? :) :)
it's a common saying referring to a topic everyone is not addressing
nothing to do with the character
I just mistakenly thought it was an obvious lookalike but nobody was commenting on it
turned out, I was just stupid and now everyone is turning on me and picking my post apart
I probably should refrain from commenting on lookalikes
the moderators can remove this whole conversation if they wish
I am sorry I posted and am going to ltry to avoid making unneeded posts
Without your comments this forum would be dullsville. A doldrum of dull boring comments gushing about this or dishing that. Simply opinions and you certainly have a right to post yours, which are often spot on. You stir things up in a good way. You call it like you see it. There is no such thingh as an unneeded post. If it isn't needed today it will be tomorrow.
European Style Apartment - inner Lighting with DAZ 4.24 ?? (solved)I remember Rougey provided a fix for this, a script that sets the lighting exactly like it was before the iray changes, you just need to doubleclick it with the scene opened. Search the forums for "European Style Apartment" and you will find it. I'd give you a link, but the forum search seems to be broken atm.
I’d like to know the source of this character and hairstyle. Can't help specifically but she looks Asian, possible Chinese. Should narrow down the search.

I wasn't aware the forum has tag functionality, but it's good to know and I'll keep it in mind for next time.
I will note that I'm being somewhat facetious, but yes, if you have a reasonable question about something I've rendered, then tagging or messaging me is okay. (Although I may well say "Sorry, that's all custom work" or give a horrendously complicated explanation. Because, indeed, a lot of stuff I do is like that).
Gallery comments are probably less useful though, unless that's something they're fixing with the upgrade, because there's no comment notifications over there and thus no way I'll find a question on my older uploads. (I check new uploads for a few days, but not beyond that).

I'm confident that it could NOT be translated to other clothing items though. You would need to re-create the process from scratch for any new clothing item.
The basic principles can be applied to any clothing item where a geoshell with negative offset isn't a problem (such as through it coming out backwards through folded seams). Indeed, the shirt I used was from an old G3 set (which wasn't even originally dForce).
Dial in lots of translucency and refraction on the shirt itself, create a geoshell that has less translucency and refraction, offset the geoshell inwards until it's clipping into the figure.
In this case, the only thing that's reasonably custom is that I needed to take a wrinkle displacement map and align it with the UV, but it's not exactly wildly bespoke.
Indeed, Jinx's sister has also had a water related mishap at some point, using an entirely different shirt asset: https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#image=1348673
Wet Shader Product Name?@Matt_Castle
Ah, right. That's making a lot more sense now. I couldn't figure out how, if it were not a shader, it could be used on other objects. I'm in no rush for it, I was just fascinated by it really, but I'll still pick it up when there's a generous sale on. Thanks for the explanation. I tend not to use geoshells, but I get the idea now.I wasn't aware the forum has tag functionality, but it's good to know and I'll keep it in mind for next time.
@kpr
Great stuff, and to be fair it is looking kinda hot in there :-DI bought a customisable droplet and sweat kit some time ago and haven't even used it yet!
But once I pick up one of those wet hair products, I'll likely get some use out of it.Wilmap's Digital Creations (Last Updated 18 March 2020)emanuela1 said:

Items used in PromoThanks for the reply. :)
I've been through the vendor's store, but the only thing they have are the shoes, which are usually listed on the product page as being used in the promo.
I'll try and search again on the forums to see if anything comes up.

The whole shooting stars character rollout has been surprisingly shoddy. They've never once mentioned that the characters are basically shapes-only; they have no materials of their own. As mentioned, Adrian and Andrew collided, although that was easily fixed. Jason was so badly broken that I had to return him. There have been a couple other things mentioned elsewhere in the forum.
There's just been a surprising lack of quality control on these shapes.
An important skill in buying from the store is going to the documentation page and verifying exactly what one is getting whenever a deal seems "too good". Why you need such skill is a different issue. Caveat Emptor.
Gallery "Under Construction"I wonder why they need to pause the gallery to work on it.Or is the rollout of the new version taking so long? I really hope our uploads don't get lost, as I don't have too much trust in Daz webwise. The models and Daz Studio itself are nice, but everything webbased they do(store, forum, gallery) usually has problems. Like the constant gateway errors and stuff. But anyway, let's just wait and see what happens. I just hope it doesn't take so long because the update went wrong and now they have to fix the live system.

@memcneil70
Thanks for that, I picked-up both of them (as in Bighorn and the Patrol add-on). Both worked out at $3.99 each for me, but that was probably because of the offer code I used. Gotta hand it to Daz, I only visited the store to pick-up the truck and add-on, and ended-up spending nearly fourty quid! Not complaining, though. I managed to get some more nice sets into the bargain, sets with lots of utility in them for kitbashing. The wallet is going to have to stay in full-on constrictor mode for a while though, can't be affording this hobby very easy at all at the moment. Perhaps with a bit of luck the few characters I've wishlisted and the remaining sets will come on sale before my tokens expire. But other than that I'm all spent up for a while, at least until after I move home, which I'm hoping will be any week now with a bit of luck!
May I suggest you don't fall into the trap I did by buying everything you can? Look at how to 'use' the options Daz Studio offers and what forum members also pass on in hints, You Tube videos, and if you are a DAZ+ or Premier member the DAZ Studio Masterclass series of videos by Jay Versluis is very good even though they are older.

It's the same thing that happened with Andrew and Adrian. Very technically, Andy is there; it's just that all the internal and external file references say "Andrew" instead of "Andy". A lot of batch-search-replace and batch-rename takes care of it.

Technically, we were informed there were no materials, since the What's Included section on each product page only mentions character presets and shaping. However, I agree it should be part of the sales page blurb, since most characters come with their own skins.
And, alas, quality control is a longstanding problem, probably exacerbated with these characters, since there's so many debuted over about 2 months.

I have asked in the scripting forum but I will ask here as well:
Based on the DS 2025/6.x forum documentation, I've noted that l (for QList<T>/QVector<T>) and strct (for QVariantMap) appear as official Hungarian prefixes in your example code, and v appears to be used for variant/unknown types. Can you confirm these are now official prefixes in the DS 2025 naming standard, and are there any others introduced to handle Qt 6 types that no longer auto-convert (e.g., QMap, QHash, QVector)?
Additionally, since DS 2025/6.x automatically wraps all normally-executed scripts in an anonymous function at runtime, does the g_ global variable naming requirement still apply to top-level declarations in a script file - given that they are technically function-scoped within that wrapper and not true globals? Or is g_ now reserved strictly for variables explicitly intended to be shared across modules via exports?QVector<T>/QList<T> are now the same class in QT, we have chosen to expose them as List<T> to script, so yes "l" is a good prefix. They are array like but not strictly Array. "v" for Variant is a good standard. With the new module system there should be no cause to have any variable use g_ anymore. The exports object scopes all variables provided by a module so there should be no true global variables in newly written script code other than those provided by the engine itself.

Doctorjellybean answered, thanks for looking!Wilmap's Digital Creations (Last Updated 18 March 2020)I tried it too, and the site seems unavailable. It's very sad to see yet another free resource site disappear. Her products are free and excellent, and I still use them a lot. I also noticed she hasn't been active on the forum for over a year. I really hope she's doing well!

Also, scene tab doesn't update selectable/unselectable checkbox when you change the selectable in viewport toggle.
Yes, a number of people have run into that and I believe it is on the list.
It would be nice to see "the list" so we can stop harping about things Daz developers have already acknowledged need to be fixed.
I agree, I mean, I see issues but I don't know if it has been reported somewhere (and the forum is just a nightmare to search something in).
It has seemed that DAZ is not in the business of making things easy for users, and not very forthcoming with much information. They seem to be relying on users to inform each other through these forums. It's a horrible thing to base something on Iray, then let users find out after they spend thousands on new cards that these cards are useless, and wonder if DAZ is ever going to correct the problem while DAZ stays mute.

If there's a space after a link but no other text on the same line, the forum software interprets it as "the space is part of the link" and adds an encoded space at the end of the URL. Remove the space after the link in your post to fix it.
