Is anyone able to see Victoria 7 content ?

All I get is heaps of loading ciricles. I guess Magento is choking again.

It is like that pretty much every night. Tonight may be slower than the norm because of a somewhat higher demand on the site right now. I know PA's alone are driving the refresh numbers up like crazy.

Okay, the items start showing up. Slowly.
Let's move onto discussion of Vicky 7 herself.

I wonder is she significantly improved over V6? Or was DAZ like 'Tsk, too many Gen6 females already, sales are dropping. Let's change the number and continue!"

    Greetings,
    Well.

    Huh.

    How 'bout that.

    That was unexpected.

Not sure what to do... :-/

The Krayon Hair for Genesis 3 Female(s) is mapped to the wrong product...

    It shows...

I was a hard sell myself but I have to admit that yes she is very much an improvement over v6. She bends better and more realistically. She has far better expressions. And here are other things that have taken a more realistic turn.

Lot's more facial articulation, even the ears. The verbiage is confusing, but it sounds like there'll be more cross compatibility between the male and female bases.

You picked up on one of the big new things, but if you want to read more (say, while Magento catches up to the deluge of new products) we do have a technology page up about some of the changes over here:

just hopign there's goign to be some uv compatibilitiy for the genesis 1 and genesis 2 stuff. if they're setting up a trend to make things go obsolete every couple years i'm gonna stop buying and just wait two years >_<

She looks stunning and i can't wait...but i just paid for a bunch of genesis 2 stuff and feeling like an idiot now. :(

Sadly, everything on the landing page isn't free! I added V7 to my cart and she came up full price. Does anyone else think it's a wee bit soon to be adding Genesis 3 to the table? After all, wouldn't it be better to do something like this for DS5 when the new SDK comes in!? What was so bad about Genesis 2 that they needed replacing so soon!? We had Gen 4 for ages longer. It's not like there ever was anything to compete with either.

Oh well, onwards and upwards. Knowing my luck I will have missed all the special offers when I am able to afford her

That looks pretty impressive I must say.

But, DAZ ... COME ON!!!! How much free cash do you think the average 3D hobbyist has lying around to keep spending on updating their entire content library every time a new iteration of base figures is released?

Anyway, congrats on the new release.

I'm afraid the new UV mapping really had to happen in order to bring it forward to current methods. When you look at it your going to see that it is VERY different from old maps. As I understand it these types of maps will make it easier for people to work on the figures in other programs like zbrush and so forth. It is possible that someone will be able to figure out a way to do comparability with old maps but as I think its going to be a tough one to do.

    Oh.

Well, I get that it was necessary, but it *is* going to slow down my adoption of Genesis 3.

Of course, complete lack of funds until *after* the blitz promo period ends was going to slow it down anyway (That and I'm inclined to wait for G3M before adopting the next generation. What can I say, I like to do things in pairs.)

    Articulated toes! Woohoo, finally!

And now Genesis 3 uses UDIM UV mapping too?

I see, so, no backwards compatibility then, hmmmm........

I'll have a play with G3F later and see what she offers and her base texture had better be a good one as she'll need to last me a good while before I do anything with V7. Some of us aren't made of money you know!

No Poser Support. So Daz does the final step in abandoning the Poser users. That was forseeable. The Pro Bundle is a little bit expensive. So i will wait a little bit with the purchase. I have so much Genesis 2 stuff that i first must use. And regarding that the end of the month is near, my financials are a little bit low on fuel. Why doesn't Daz bring a new figure at the beginning of the month?

Now i will wait for the first renders of V7.

There is that risk. We all got use to the joy of backward compatibility on so much. I know it took me a little bit to warm up to the idea of her at all. But warm up I have. She really bends and poses lovely. And the expression possibilities are pretty dramatically improved. I think she is going to be able to win over people pretty easily.

That has more to do with the technology in Studio 4.8 being required for Genesis 3 to function than DAZ purposely abandoning anyone.

    Glad to hear it.

Thanks, downloading the base now and I'll try to start on it tomorrow.

    V7 is here, yeaah!

But I will wait just a bit, as the discount price is not set up, for now.
I will wait for the 30% promised discount! :D

Yeah, seam guides for the base templates. I won't be able to do them for the Victoria 7 UVs because I don't have them, but hopefully my usual guides for the Genesis 3 female will be of some use to someone. :)

Well, i'm in no rush to update. There's still a ton of characters for Genesis 2 i don't have. And i'm already 10 times weary of the endless list of UV maps that hinder my work and purchase ability. 95% of my clothing for genesis 2 is either converted or optitex clothiing, and i still use V4 skins on genesis 2 the same percent of the time. I waited to work with Genesis 2 until she had genesis 1 and V4 shapes and uv maps before i got into buying anything for genesis 2. now that i just started working with and buying stuff for genesis 2, t here's whole new leap of incompatibility to cross that makes everything obsolete.

Rather than throw my money down that chasm, i'll just work with Genesis 2 a bit longer. I think Daz could have done WAY more with her/him than they did. :/

Tell me about it, not been that long since I went to Genesis 2 and spent a ton on G2 stuff and now G3.. Well will be a while before I have the cash to buy into this new one.. Now expecting Stephanie 7, Aiko 7, The Girl 7 Teen 7, ad nauseum, but yeah with the asking full price on a new release will be a very long time before I start adopting G3..

Totally agree G3 is way way too soon and the buying for new figure treadmill rears its ugly head again.. Ah well 6 months from now might have the cash to splurge on G3, but would not be surprised to see G4 / Victoria 8 come out then..
