Tried to render in iray. Just a straight render. Not bad considering I don't really know what I'm doing.
Wonderful set. So many places to make scenes. Thank you Stonemason.
hey guys, I'll get an iray update for this set done in a week or two,I didn't feel confident enough to provide an iray version when the set was being finished up as I was still just starting out with iray.
so with some decent normal and roughness maps that road surface should look a little more cobbled and not so shiny and flat.
Cheers
Stefan
So if we're a Poser user who doesn't use DSON, we have to add the texture maps manually at this point, then? I was looking forward to getting this set, but not if that's the case. :bug:
heh, your not really meant to render it close enough that you can read it :)..just random text
Yeah, but I've zoomed in on products for the past two years on my art studio thread...I forget whose post-it notes and bulletin board we had fun exploring. Love it when vendors do humorous stuff like this. Quite clever.
Gorgeous set!
Another Poser user here, thanking Stefan for the OBJ version (by purchasing now!), and waiting patiently for any update that helps us non-D/S people out.
The 'General Installer' puts a folder called 'General' in the folder structure of your DAZ Studio My Library. In it are 99 individual OBJ files for the buildings and scenery with another folder of 18 OBJ files for the props. Each one needs individually importing and texturing, until the mtl update at least.
It will be a LOT easier to try an import from Studio if you can as this will take a lot of patience to set up at the moment from the OBJ files, although actually some of these files are Low Poly alternates of the main files.
With all import option unticked in the OBJ import dialogue the individual sections load in place and correctly sized for Poser people. In the attached picture I have imported 3 buildings and 2 road parts, untextured with a V4 for scale.
Looking forward to the update so I can start using this excellent set.
"Stonemaizing" work. Thanks ;-)

Same here, I was about ready to buy, but then I saw that it was DS only (I don't use DSON). While I do use DS from time to time, I'm far more skilled in Poser, so if I can't use this set in Poser, it's not worth it to me.
But it's such a beautiful set!! Please don't forget us loyal Poser users.
Looks lovely, and with Stonemason, you know the quality is there... Sadly I can't afford it, even with the discount - (the exchange rate on the US dollar is a killer, and even after the pension check comes in, well..... just can;t justify it.. that;s the only problem with retirement and being on a fixed income.. far less disposable income..
ah well.. I still say it looks great!

Indeed, it is beautiful. I don't use Daz Studio and I don't use DSON (tried a couple of times, but it failed to work). I have little 'me" time with the computer nowadays, so I need to pick stuff that works in Poser (currently using Poser Pro 2014) out-of-the-box as-is. When I have time to create scenes, I need things to go as smoothly a possible, without lots of tweaking. Even on discount, the price of the set puts me slightly over budget for May's spending... I really have to think about this while we have dinner. I may just have to wait for the next sale and see if there are better compatibility options for Poser users by then. If there are as many object files, and as much work involved as Haruchai stated, this might not be the set for me, at least for the time being. And that pains me, because I really wanted this set.
I created a Poser Companion file for the !Streets of London.duf set (a few mouse clicks) and it loaded into Poser Pro (2012) with no issues, other than hiding the Poser ground plane as it was poking through the cobblestones. I would imagine the materials and lighting would need to be adjusted, which is all a mystery to me...
Has anyone tried the OBJ yet?
Can someone post a pic?
Especially if you use Carrara.
Thanks
*sighs sadly* I was sooo hoping this was going to be Poser Compatible :( Guess I'm doomed to disappointment again :(
I haven't tried the OBJ yet, but here's one in Carrara. I'll try to do one with better lighting in a while, but it looks good...no issues in Carrara so far.

Wearwolf in London:
I loaded up the Streets of London in Carrara, also. The cobble stone textures, the section in your image, behind the wolf, need fixing in Carrara.
The separate buildings, both the Object and the .duf versions, loaded fine. They just need the usual texture tweaking for Carrara.
The Object versions need the textures applied manually.
I just wish I had time to actually play...I'm downloading it now but have reports to write for the next two weekends! : (
Absolute stunning! Whitechapel is back, Sherlock is back, and Boris will offer you the keys to the city.
But... will there a Poser version as well?
Somebody needs to make a skeletal dinosaur and an accompanying Victorian lorry, so that we can recreate the chase scenes from 'One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing'. :)
Would a dragon do? Complete with Amazonian Warrioress Mistress? I hope to post one at the weekend.
Cheers,
Alex.
To my knowledge there have been two complete dinosaur skeletons made (there are also one or two skulls in sets by Dinoraul) They were both made by Sixus1 a few years back as part of a line of dinosaurs. The first of these is the Tyrannosaur which I think is now part of the packaged Poser content, so may not be sold individually any more. The other is a Stegosaurus. It's been many years since I saw the film but I think that it featured a sauropod of some kind, so you won't be able to reproduce it exactly I afraid.
For myself, I am another Poser user interested in this set - but the thought of setting up that many textures does put me off. It is a lot of work - which of course works both ways. If non-DS/DSON users don't make up enough of the market here, then it might be unfair to expect content creators to invest that much addition time where there isn't enough of a return. I do however appreciate the inclusion of the obj files, so it is still an option for me - and if the mtl files are added as an update, then I'll certainly make the purchase, as that would save a large chunk of the time it would take to Poserise the set.
Well, there is a skeletal dragon in the store I bought ages ago. Not sure if the wings can be removed/made invisible, but it might work. Just a shame nobody has ever made poses for it.
I have just purchased The Streets Of Old London, it is a large scene set, yet surprisingly is extremely moveable on my old computer with just a 256 mb video chip. :ohh:
I love Stonemason's work, and have several of his products, but I think to date, for me, this HAS to be his finest. The level of detail in the streets, the brickwork, the interiors of rooms and shops as seen from the streets, etc....the list goes on and on.... Truly amazing !
Thank you Stonemason, this must have taken you ages to build and texture, and the introductory price is very generous. This is going to be a very useful prop resource because there are so many different buildings and scene possibilities, etc to choose from.
Very much appreciated, and hope you get many, many sales.
Kind regards,
:-)
With some additional props would also work for The Avengers (the real ones, not the Marvell ones).
Stonemason, we're needed. ;-)
Okay, had to take a time-out to play with this set.
Some here Free

This was a day one buy for me. I've been reading Conan Doyle stories since I was a kid, so this amazing set full of little details is a dream come true. Now we just need someone to produce quality male clothes to go with the era.
I'm still using an ancient and quite crappy Core Duo (hoping to replace it with a Iray ready computer next month) but I couldn't resist the temptation to start playing a little with the set and send a hansom cab to Baker Street :)
Greetings,
Got paid. First thing I spent money on was this. So, so lovely, and that price...so good!
Now to find time... :)

I'm a big fan of Stonemason's work and have most of his work. But no Poser files, no buy. Sorry, but it is easy like that. If someone don't want my money I'll find other sellers out there who do....
Thanks Delphi and Salem for the info and pics!
Stonemason
Looking at the images people have posted you have really outdone yourself this time.
GREAT work!
Unfortunately, you didn't include straight Poser files. I'm running C7Pro and I always use your Poser files and get GREAT results.
I picked up the set and am grateful for the OBJs, but they load in the centre and I have no way of knowing how they are supposed to go and haven't the time to figure out.
Also, the textures have to be set by hand and again, no time for that.
I appreciate the work, but if you can keep adding Poser files to your work, you will certainly get my money.
