I don't know if Eudora loads without a texture applied, but if that is the case, what DraagonStorm said will certainly happen. I know there are a few hairstyles out there that load "blank." Jewell Hair is one that comes to mind immediately
It was after I had loaded an initial texture for the hair - but I did not check to see if the scalp had textures applied. I'll have a look when I remember.
Ah, well, not that I was planning on sharing the recipe for this particular attempt, but I think I ended up using the Color Mixer way too many times to be able to do that then as I'm pretty sure I used it about 6 or 7 times on several different parts of the hair. So, there isn't a way to save a material preset, without proprietary redistribution of assets, that others inside DS could use as long as they had UHT2? It would be nice if there were a way of sharing presets in the same way as there are with systems like LAMH where you still need the actual program in order to be able to use it. But, I'm guessing not then. It might be something for Slosh and Draagonstorm to think about, though, because if they could swing it, that would be kind of cool.
Now there's an idea... and I bet that's something that they could come up with :D
Sometimes............ Ask and ye shall recieve.
I'm working on a Recipe Builder for UHT2 like I did for Skin Builder.

It (the scalp of the Eudora hair) gets a diffuse colour, and opacity map, but no diffuse map.

I'm working on a Recipe Builder for UHT2 like I did for Skin Builder.
I tried using UHT2 on Leandro Hair. When I click on the scalp and then the icon to use existing textures on the scalp, there is no issue. But when I select the other parts and click on the icon to apply use the existing textures, it says that an error occurred and that I should check the log. Not sure where the log is, but I suppose I am doing something wrong.
out of curiousity, are you using the Use Original Textures preset from the Base Textures folder, or the one from the Scalp Textures folder (I mean for the other hair parts?) It sounds like there may not already be a texture on Leandro hair when it loads, maybe? I'm not at my computer right now, so I can't load Leandro to see. But, if it loads without a texture to begin with, then the preset script will have an error. If this is the case, just load in the original texture preset you want before using the preset. If this is not what your situation is, then I think I might need more info to see what is throwing the error.
By the way, the log file, on a Windows PC, is located in your User folder, in Roaming/Daz3d/Studio4 (or the appropriately named Studio version you have installed)
I got to the UHT2 product by going to utilities/scripts and then right clicking on one of the icons and chose Explore Product. Then under Utilities/Scripts on the Product page, I selected the scalp and applied the one called Use Original Scalp and then I selected the remaining three parts of the hair and clicked on Use Original textures. In this same folder under Smart Content, there was also an icon for Color MIxer. Maybe I shouldn't be using this product through Smart Content. I did install it through connect, but I think I went back and installed through DIM too, because at first I couldn't find it.
Since I was using this from Smart Content, I'm not seeing a Base Textures folder or a Scalp Textures folder. That makes me think that maybe I should be using this from the content Library.
And the hair did load with a blond texture.
Not sure if it matters, but I did select the hair first and I applied the Iray Uber shader.
And I have watched your videos several times. They are very good. But I'll probably have to go back and watch them again.
Looks like I only installed through Daz Connect. I can only find the UHT2 product by the method I discribed above or under the Product folder in the Content Library. Under products in the Content Library, UHT2 just shows as a vertical list of icons. There are no folders like I saw in your videos. Or else I am not looking in the right place.
In Smart Content, there are four folders if Explore Product.
I have found that these product with scripts that need to look in other folders (such as the scripts in UHT2) do not work when downloaded using Daz Connect. You need to either install using DIM or Manual.

I have installed UHT2 with Daz Connect, and as far as I can tell, it is working perfectly in 4.9.3.37 (latest beta) and 4.9.2.70 (latest release). What part do you think is not working? I'll try that out.
@KevinH, what version of Daz Studio are you running?
I have seen some scripts that fail to run because they were installed with Daz Connect. M4 Skins Batch Converter for Genesis 2 was one. I think it was looking for files where DIM puts them and not where Daz Connect puts them, but that is just my guess.
UHT2 has worked on the other hairs that I've tried it on.
Well, I did try installing this through DIM, but it made no difference. I still got the error. I also looked, but I couldn't find the log file.
I did however try using one of the textures that comes with UHT2 and it applied without any problem.
Did you uninstall the Connect version? If both are present DS will use the Connect files, at least when going through a CMS-based view such as Smart Content or Categories.
This is Vivian she is wearing Gn2End of Summer Hair
This is morton he is wearing Kaylon Hair, his beard is a genesis product that I had fun trying to get a blond color and then had to get his hair matching the beard.
It looks way different to mine in the video's you posted on youtube.
I'm using 4.9, the public release. In the videos, would have still been 4.9, but not sure which iteration. Maybe it's just the layout that is different and maybe my shortcuts? I tried to reset the layout to default before making most of the videos so that the greater majority of users would see a familiar UI, but it's possible I missed reset in one or two videos

@KevinH, I'm sorry I haven't been back to help. I didn't get a notification of any activity in this thread, but stumbled upon it today in "Recent Discussions".
I don't have Leandro Hair, so I can't test that. I did get an error message one time when I accidently had Victoria 7 selected in the Scene pane instead of the hair. I still was able to select the hair surfaces in the Surfaces pane, because Display Selected and Fitted Items was checked in the Surfaces menu. It really confused me until I finally figured out what happened. Like your case, the Use Original Scalp script executed without error, but the regular hair Use Original Textures failed. I recreated that here in the attached screenshot. See if you have your character instead of the hair selected.
Another tip for you: You can find the folder structure for products installed with Daz Connect at the top of the Content Library under Daz Studio Formats>Daz Connect. For UHT2, look in Daz Studio Formats>Daz Connect>Shader Presets>Sloshwerks>UHT2 Ultra Salon. Another way to find the folder is to right-click on one of the product files in Smart Content and select Show Asset In>Content Library Virtual Folder. In the Product or Category section of the Content Library, right click on it and select Show Asset In>Virtual Folder.
I thought I would do a very quick Leandro hair/ UHT2 render. i didn't run into an issue's but I did a terrible hair fit so the scullcap isn't quite right.
Here is Tra La La Hair with UHT2. I only did a little bit of color mixing on this hair. I like this hair model a lot more than I thought I would. It has lots of different surfaces and quite a few morphs. I created my own morph with a deformer to get the hair out of her right eye. I modified some of the surface settings, too.
Somehow I missed the added discussion about the Leandro hair. I was talking about the one that @nemesis10 used in the image above. I believe I have the Leandros hair, but I haven never used it. And I'm not sure I will. I'm not crazy about the man bun, LOL. I have it because it came with a bundle.
I remember there were 3 parts to the hair in the Surface Panel. I clicked on each of them. And the one for the cap worked OK. But the other two gave errors. I also remember checking for a texture and when I clicked the button (was it next to diffuse?), a texture displayed. Plus I could see the tiny image before checking.
I know that my icons are in the Poser directory that is separate from daz. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I'll try the hair again. But it does work with the textures that come with UHT2. That's how I ended up using it. There were no errors generated with I used the UHT2 textures.
Nothing new here for a couple months, so here is a contribution. This is Shanda Hair, which I got in the PA Sale at great discount. I started with a light blonde UHT2 and did some darker color mixing. I like it.
...this has been working great, until I tired it on Fabiana's Twin Fair hair. For some reason when I apply the shader to the side strands the texture loads crosswise instead of following the direction of the hair. Not sure how to fix this as the LIE only has a flip but no rotate texture option. The same also happens with the original UHT as well. The native 3DL maps work fine so I'm not sure what is causing the conflict.
I find this a bit perplexing as I have used UHT2 on other non Daz hair (including Koz's hairs) and it has worked perfectly.

More than likely it's because the uvs for the hair have been laced out horizontally, rather than vertically.. I'm not aware of a way to rotate textures in Iray, though there very might well be a way to do it

There is a Rotate option, at least in DS 4.9.2.70:
Maybe I'm just missing something but I have UHT2, as well as the UHT2: Fantasy expansion. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get the fantasy colors into the editor script, I can only use the base colors. This is fine if I want to start with a fantasy and blend into a plain one, but I want the option to do fantasy into fantasy as well. Can anyone help me out on this?

No such thing as too much purple.
Just saying.
Stop laughing, Slosh :P
See, I knew that would be cool!
I don't know. As much as I adore purple, I have seen it overused once or twice. Not, however, in Irrafay's image. That one is outstanding!

Still working on how to get the images in nicely

Great product i'm buying it when I've saved up enough.

I thought Leandro hair was the one with the man bun? Or am I confused?
Oh, there is Leandro and Leandros.... I assumed they were talking about Leandro since it has no iRay shaders as a product for M4 and Genesis?
Hey, looky what just popped up in the store... that is also appropriate to this topic:
