    • Will the DSON Importer for Poser plugin work with products installed using Daz Connect?

The DSON Importer for Poser plugin will not work with Encrypted Daz Connect files; the plugin, in its current form, does not know how to decrypt the files so that it can load them. The plugin can be made to work with files that have been installed using Daz Connect and are not encrypted (provided the product page states that it is compatible with the plugin), though the conviences typically provided by the supplimental PoserCF packages in Daz Install Manager or the Product Library are likely to be missing.

The DSON Importer for Poser plugin will continue to work with products installed through Daz Install Manager (provided the product page states that it is compatible).

    • Will this update keep zip packages on my computer like Daz Install Manager does?

No. Daz Studio only downloads the portion of products that have changed using Daz Connect, and it only stores that data on your computer. This improves the performance of downloading as well as the local footprint of products.

    • Is there a reason to upgrade to 4.9 if I do not plan to use Daz Connect?

Yes, Daz Studio 4.9 has a lot more to offer.  It includes updates to both native renderers (NVIDIA Iray and 3Delight), as well as many stability fixes, and a greatly enhanced Smart Content workflow.

How do I install Daz Connect products using Offline Packages?

On the computer that the Offline Package(s) will be downloaded to:

    1. Login to your Daz 3D account on the Daz 3D website.
    2. Choose a product in your Product Library that you want to download the Offline Package for.
    3. Download the Offline Package (*.sep) and the Offline Authorization (*.sea) files for the product
      • Both files are required for each product.

On the computer the Offline Package(s) will be installed to:

    1. Launch Daz Studio 4.9 and login to the same Daz 3D account used to manually download the Offline Packages.
      • This must happen only once for the destination machine; it is not required for each product.
    2. Using the OS file browser (e.g., Explorer/Finder), navigate to a content directory that is mapped as the "Daz Connect Data" directory or a "Daz Studio Formats" directory in the Content Directory Manager.
    3. Within the chosen mapped directory, navigate to the ./data/cloud/install sub-directory
      • If the sub-directory does not exist, you will need to create it.
    4. Copy the Offline Package (*.sep) and the Offline Authorization (*.sea) files, previously downloaded, to the ./data/cloud/install directory
    5. If Daz Studio 4.9.0.63 is not already running, launch it.
    6. In the pane option menu for the Smart Content or Contnet Library pane, click the "Install Offline Products" action.

*Note: The *.sep and *.sea files for a given product will be removed from the ./data/cloud/install directory as that product is installed.

    • How do I change where Daz Connect products are installed?

You can change the path where Daz Connect products are installed by changing the "Daz Connect Data" path in the Content Directory Manager. The Content Directory Manager can be accessed from the Content Library pane option menu (right-click on the label of the pane or click the option menu icon for the pane group while the pane is forward-most in the stack), or from the Preferences dialog (via Edit > Preferences... > Content Library > Directory Managament).

Note: Changing the "Daz Connect Data" path mentioned above does not move the information already downloaded and/or installed to it. To move previously installed Daz Connect products, move the entire "./data/cloud" directory in the old location to the new desired location before changing the path in the Content Directory Manager dialog.
