Can you have more than one Daz installed

I have 4.6 installed. I want to install 4.8 but don't want to un-install 4.6. Any advice?
Thanks

If you don't want to upgrade, don't...because you can only have one 'main' version installed. Yes, you can do DS2, 3 and 4 all together...but you can't do 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 and 4.8 installed at the same time.
wonder if one could install it on another drive ?
I had asked the same thing not long ago http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/58231/i-failed-in-my-search-how-to-have-2-versions-daz-4-6-4-8#latest
To elaborate on mjc1016's point a tad more. It is possible to install a 32bit version and a different 64bit version, however, it still has major problems.
Whenever I go from one version to another, the entire interface is messed up, and I have to load the 'theme' again to fix it. Also, I've forgotten I was testing something in an older (32 bit 4.6) Studio, and when I open the newer version (64 bit 4.7), they both instantly crashed, lol.
Unless you test stuff allot, it just is not worth the hassle.
So for the average user, never more then one (as mjc1016 described), and NEVER try opening it again if it is in the task bar already running (yes I did that once as well, lol).
It's not the drive that matters...it's the registry/configuration settings that do and they aren't done by drive,
You could also install the Public Build (Beta) for 4.8 -- the beta is designed not to confict with the general release.
Installing to a separate drive doesn't solve the problem, because they would still share settings.
This sucks. Daz should make it so you can run multiple. I have a plug-in that doesn't work in 4.8. Being able to go back and forth would be nice.
What plugin?
This is NOT a supported method
1. Uninstall DS 4.6 and ALL its plugins.
2. Install DS 4.8 and all the plugins for it that you need.
3. Copy the contents of your DS 4.8 install into a new folder (you can also make a zip file of the folder and its subfolders for later reuse)
4. Uninstall DS 4.8 and ALL its plugins
5. Reinstall DS 4.6 and all its plugins that you need.
NOTE:
By plugins I mean those that reside in the plugins folder in the install directory.
I have done the above and both seem to work but I dont run them at the same time. The installed version of DAZ Studio (4.6) will be the one that controls the tool bar layout and menus. And changes you make to the UI in the not-installed version of 4.8 will be ignored and the 4.6 layout will be used next time you load 4.8
This is NOT a supported method
I have 3 versions of DS installed for different plugins. 4.6, 4.7 and 4.8. Depending on your needs you may be able to just install, copy a new instance, then upgrade/overrite the inital install.
I never had any issues this way, never did any extensive testing. I have also run 2 versions at the same time :) But as Matty said, your UI and "recent" files will be shared.
Just cause it is not supported does not mean it doesn't work. Some people say they had issues, but I never did. So you will only know if you try.
Even though 4.7 introduced some new UI things not in 4.6, it never broke anything in 4.6.
4.6 is my legacy version which I sometimes need, 4.8 is my up to date primary version. You could just as easily have 3 instances of the same version if needed.
