Please - how can I join a prop to an actor?

To be specific: I have a carkey prop and I want to create pictures of different actors holding them in different poses. Is there any way of locking the keys to an actor's hand rather than go through the painful task of positioning them in the hand every time I change or move the actor?

What you want to do is called 'Parenting' an item.

Position your car key, or any other object, exactly where you want it to be positioned in relation to the hand, and then right click on the car key, and select 'Change Parent' in either the Scene pane or the main Viewport. The object will remain in the same position in realtion to the hand no matter what the pose.

The prop will still need tweeking to match each pose applied to the hand.
