I know nothing about the different models from the different eras, but if they're passable, TheSchell has quite a few models, but they're listed as WW1.

Sailed into the turbulent waters of the Commons as it is a request for, not an offer of, a freebie.

Thank you for all your replies. Can Sketchup models be used in Poser and DAZ? I already have the Liberty ship,USS Vestal,Clyde Puffer and Tramp steamer. I am after Oil tankers and troop carriers and early 20s,30s and 40's passenger liners. They do not need to be hi poly and most of these would be in the backgroubd of a convoy.Cheers

If you find any, please post, I've been searching for a while. All I found was Titanic (from Vanishing Point).
Or some utterly expensive ugly looking models at TurboSquid.

Sketchup Pro exports OBJ files. I've successfully exported OBJs from the free Sketchup 8 using this plugin:
OBJ Export plugin. I did have some trouble downloading the plugin in IE (Windows 7) but no trouble in Firefox.

Thanks for the link. However it leads me to an import plugin which I have installed into the free Sketchup. Is there an export plugin as well as I cannot seem to find one only the pro version! Cheers

I have managed to export Sketchup models as OBJ's and 3ds files to Poser. I have also imported them into Vue 11 Infinite as OBJ's. There are some great models in Sketchup if you just want lo poly's in the background or not to close to the camera.I haven't tested them in DAZ Studio as yet,but I would imagine there would not be any problems. Many Many thanks to all you great people here in the forum for your assistance and advice.Cheers

Sorry. I was going too quickly and didn't read the link, however it looks like you found the correct plugin. For others who are interested, the exporter is here: Correct OBJ exporter link

For Poser try these, you may find something in either .obj, .lwo, .3ds format to import into your scene, you can then also convert to prop if you so wish. These are all free.

I just did you a lazy 3d model search in google, there were more sites that came up but these did not require registration, they may impose a download limit, and they may redirect to download, but none offered to dupe me into downloading adware etc.

    I hope you find something.
