I want to create my own base model to rig, pose and apply morphs to, like Genesis. How do I go about doing this? Is there a tutorial on this topic?

And here's a DAZStudio rigging tutorial, which details the same methodology used to rig Genesis and comes with it's own practice figure:

Thanks! This gives me a place to start. Has anyone used Blondie's tutorial? Did you find it helpful?

I disagree -- with the "make some models first" part, not the "lot of people like it" part. :smirk: Doing the rigging tutorial first can give a better idea of how to make the model with an eye to later rigging. However I've barely dabbled, so I'm probably not the best person to get advise from.

if you really would like to model, these are great tutorials.
http://www.digitaltutors.com or search for gnomon on google

buy zbrush and use modeler you like (some cheap examples, blender or silo, or...)

Blondie's tutorial was SO helpful! Thanks for the suggestion. My modeler of choice is Sculptris, and 3d-Coat maybe, once I learn how to use it properly. I don't have the cash to drop on Zbrush and I couldn't figure out Blender in a million years!

    You're welcome!

Nobody could figure out Blender in a million years: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Books/An_introduction_to_BLENDER_3D_a_book_for_beginners  There's other documentation out there (the manual, for example), but that's in a pdf so you don't need web access just to read it.
