decided to post a question in the Poser forum but they are all DSONing madly I am not holding my breath on a response %-P

so many things I do not know how to do in Poser with surfaces that I do in Carrara,
trying to get the ground to shadowcatch, ticked it in the wacros room, think I need a raytraced spotlight, Carrara any old light will do.
Figured out how to do simple stuff like mix two textures on a face for example, that is much like Carrara except you connect nodes with little cordy things instead of creating subsets, I still cannot successfully do THAT in Studio!! even with layered image editor!
at least the wacros room works much like Carrara's texture room
DS shadermixer confuses the crap out of me!

Aha, now that's a first, I've lured David into the stupid thread.

    Welcome to the fun.

but be warned, stupidity can be catching. Some of us spend far too much time in this thread.

Are you really trying to tell me that the threads I've been in before are the sensible ones? Really? You can say that Pam, and keep a straight face? OK...

Ah well, what can I say. This is the only thread that admits it is a stupid thread, that's the difference.

Wendy in regards to multiple texture blending and mixing über surface shader 2 is just brilliant for that. I'm new to it but already I could invision making mixed shaders n textures for eg a terminator! Be pretty mad for blood and mud and wet texturing too. I don't use poser so sorry I can't answer ur questions.

Complaint. Auto type is really annoying sometimes! When I type a word I expect the word I typed to be there! Not some silly word auto type wants it to be

Oh man I posted this in the wrong thread again ! Stupid and complaint threads are subconsciously the same thread in one. Both my online home threads lol! I accidently posted stupid in the complaints earlier today as well :s

My Stupid: I got up and went to the clinic. It's pretty stupid when you let people ruin a perfectly good day.

There's got to be some music that would suit Wendy's bald belly-dancing fatty on page 35 of this thread. Maybe Donna Lewis' 'I Could Be the One'.

I'm sure the nice fatty could be improved upon by removing the 'bra' and drawing two eyes on the nipples, too. Plus a nice little rosebud mouth where the navel is.

I now know why my Virginbroadband got disconected the other day :red:
    STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPIIIIIIDDDD!
my credit card expired and the bank declined the payment!
it WAS just after midnight on my due date!!!
they must have decided to let me have it back and email me instead so I could pay it!!
must get around to activating that new card I got a month ago %-P someday ;-P
(did double Bpay on broadband with my main debit account so that covered, might just do that in future instead)
I only use the credit card for emergencies but my BB was direct debited from it.

    Hmm?

Actually someone did try running a contest like that once and we had to block it - it's a sweepstake, and those are absolutely verboten in Utah so we can't allow them aside from any practical difficulties.

...such things used to be prohibited in Wisconsin as well when I was growing up. "Mail in" contests (like those found on cereal boxes back in the day) were also void even though they were administered in another state where it was legal. I remember seeing such offers with the word "void" printed in large letters across the coupon. Basically purchasing an item with such a coupon offer was considered laying down a wager.

Strangely, for some reason, the only contest that was allowed was the old Reader's Digest sweepstakes which my mum always entered.

Even pinball wasn't sacred as could only be awarded free balls, not free games, for high score as the latter was considered gambling and the state had very strict laws governing such activity. Admittedly this was great for establishing all time high scores as you started with five instead of three balls per play. As long as you could keep getting free balls, you could conceivably play all day on a single quarter (or when I was younger, a dime).

Then the legislature saw the cash cow that state run lotteries were, as well as a lot of potential revenue heading to neighbouring Illinois with residents of the two largest cities (Milwaukee and Madison) taking the one hour or so drive south to purchase tickets for a chance to win a million.

Now not only does Wisconsin have it's own lottery but is also involved in the Powerball and I believe, Mega Millions national draws. There are also a number of casinos that have sprung up on native lands, one surprisingly, In the old Menominee Valley just west of Downtown Milwaukee.

...hmmm, hope my Megabucks ticket comes through for me tonight, account balance is pretty low and payday isn't until Monday.

they don't like my stooooooopid art in the members choice thread, so will not be posting pretty renders of the other things I bought :long:
might have to stick with the stupid thread for my stupid art. %-P
and leave the highbrow to their own devices! ;-P

Wendy, this just frosts my b*lls. His, not mine. Last time I checked I didn't have any.

I cannot get that mouse trap out of my head. Was that modelled? By whom and with what?

My 7 yr old grandson loves the game, but seldom gets to play. It takes hours, flung items, lots of cussing, and hissy fits for his mother and me to get it put together.

    ...:cheese:

Something that moron in the little blue econobox which pulled out right in front of the bus I was on last week should have been thinking. We missed turning said car (with it's occupants) into a crushed soda can by mere inches. Apparently unruffled by the near crunch experience, he/she had (which might easily have been fatal as the car could have been crushed against the end of a concrete barrier), this imbecile drove merrily on as if nothing happened.

...never mind the 18 tonnes of transit bus in a panic skid, with tyres screeching and horn blaring, bearing down on their little 2,500# tinfoil cocoon.

...and of course, no concern for those riding on the bus.

My punishment for fools like this one would be to take them to one of the bus yards, put them on a bus, then have the driver speed up to about 30 mph and suddenly slam on the brakes several times so they can experience the absolute thrill of Newton's First Law of Motion without the benefit of seatbelts or airbags.

my Goth Nun, frame 835 of 3000, I made her clothes reflective, but does not look like stiff metal animated with dynamics
hopefully all rendered when I get home from work, going quite quick now I have a still background only with shadowcatch, at least Poser also does animated backgrounds so might do a bit more rendering in it in future, studio I always have to render transparent png's and composite them on planes in Carrara for backgrounds.

More seriously, I'm impressed by how the dress drapes from her legs. Still have a lot to learn about DAZ Studio, I guess.

that is Poser7, not Daz studio!
I usually only render in Carrara, studio even 64bit is just too slow for animation.
was forced to use Poser to render as the dyntomorph script will not work on a figure rigged with bits made dynamic
still heaps quicker than studio and only 32bit, my RAM needle is not even on 2 & CPU at 26% imagine how quick 64 would be
(oneday will have to get a new Poser!!)

    ...this definitely belongs here.

I think I just hosed my 4.5 trying to get GenerationX to work

Seems I lost a critical path in the directory mapping that is needed for the app to find Genesis and all it's morph sets. I looked everywhere and even mapped any and every folder with the title "Daz" in it but nothing seems to have fixed it.

Too tired to deal with it anymore tonight so heading off to bed. Hopefully one of my "help!" posts will get a response that will help me restore the correct path. This is one thing I never had to worry about with earlier versions. Not very good at this kind of stuff.

Have you tried re-installing it with default paths? I never had any probs with genx before.

Genesis data files are in a place like this:

    C:\Users\Skiriki\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis

Try to reinstall both Genesis Essentials and GenX -- that usually helps in case of acute Windows derp.
