    You got more than I did -- at least you got a black screen!  All I got was an alpha channel (transparency)!

    But I'll try eighty-sixing the skydome; I had forgotten that it was part of the pre-load, and Iray hates skydomes worse than..., worse than Donald Trump hates anyone who laughs at his hair!  (And, um, that would be me.)

    Well, it appears that the problem appears not to be the environment, or the lights, at all.

    I deleted all of the figures, leaving only the environment and lights; it rendered just fine.  Then I deleted the environment (keeping the lights), and rendered just the figures.  The render blew up.  So, I started rendering the scene, but without one of the six figures (deleted each from the scene, while leaving all the others), and after the third go-round, I found my culprit: Darius 6.  Actually, it doesn't even appear to be Darius 6, specifically, but the combination of Darius 6 and the Gentleman's Wardrobe outfit I dressed him in.  (I ran a test render of each, in the Via Serena environment, with lighting; both renders came out fine -- one of Darius without the Gentleman's Wardrobe (without any wardrobe at all, in point of fact), and one of the Gentleman's Wardrobe without Darius.)

    So, what is it about those two items combined that causes Iray to go completely spaz-o-tronic like that!?

    Interesting, Ken! I don't have the Gentleman's Wardrobe myself, so I can't test to see if I get the same problem. I do have Darius and have managed to render him dressed and undressed (blush) but not in anything  by Aave Nainen - I have a couple of AA dresses, but my Darius hasn't been a cross-dresser up to now. As that clothing isn't one of your pulls, do you have some other suitable clothes for him perhaps?

    I might raise this question on Novica's Art Studio thread - she has a lot of AA clothing, I wonder if she might be able to give it a try to see if it's something unique to you or a general problem.

    Well Ken, it's never nice to see someone having to deal with a Daz Moment, but I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm afraid I don't have any ideas at all, not even anything far fetched. I'll be really interested to know whats going on there if you can figure it out. That's just wierd!

    Purrkat - love that rendition of teen spirit and the render covers it so well!

    Ken, I have Darius 6 and A Gentleman's Wardrobe. I'll give it a try.

    Edit: Ken, what did you do for changing the textures for Iray? Anything?

    Here is Darius 6 in A Gentleman's Wardrobe. I applied the textures that came with the products. Neither Darius nor the wardrobe have Iray textures in their products. This is the default DAZ HDRI lighting with headlamp off. It rendered without any problem, but the non-Iray texures look poor.

    I did apply the Iray Uber Base shader to all of the surfaces in the scene.  That was pretty much the only modification I made, other than to turn on photometrics for all of my lights (and there were a crap-load of them, too!)

    I'm just going to yank Darius and the outfit, and try replacing him with another figure.  I'm getting tired of jacking with this thing!

    NOT an Entry

    I played around with Darius and A Gentleman's Wardrobe. I changed textures, added photometric lights, changed the HDRI to one from HDRIHaven.com, added hair and shoes, added the prop jacket, and rendered a larger image. Everything rendered fine in Iray. I'm using DS 4.9.2.70 and rendering with GPU only. I know Ken has moved on, so I'll stop experimenting now. Anyway, here is my final test, just for fun.

    Thank goodness you guys found my last render funny.  After I uploaded it to the thread, it occurred to me that some may consider it too violent, even though it's supposed to be cartoony and silly.

    Darius was always expendable.  If I had had a red Star Trek (TOS) shirt, I'd have put him in it!

    Thanks, kyoto kid, purrkat, MelanieL (I got the lyric from that humongous wbsite and the sharktrail came with the weasle launcher. Hehe) Thanks, Ken. She looks like Pat Benetar to me too. I didn't do anything special. Thanks, purrkat (he does look like a psycho; seems like there's always one lurking around.) Thanks, Kyoto kid. Kooky Cannons are pretty cool. I never used one before. 
    MelanieL, maybe Santo is abit pale because he is a sometimes vampire, or else he translated that way into Iray.

    Could somebody be so kind as to remind me what setting I have to turn on to get all the additional parameter dials to show up?  (Specifically for lights; I have some unwanted shadows, with no 'Off' switch!)
