Content Downloader for RDNA

TaozTaoz Posts: 10,232

I've rewritten the Content Downloader for RDNA so it now can download all products directly from the RDNA store (not just products in key files, as before). So if anyone have a lot of stuff they need to download there and wants to try it (it's free now) I'll suggest waiting until I got the last few bugs fixed. Should be within a couple of days I think. There is a tutorial in progress here:

Thanks for the tool. I have one more page of content to download and I'll try it out.

Thanks!  A lot of my RDNA purchases are for the gen 3 figures, and I suspect a lot of those won't make the transition.

Er... there's no active link to the software so folks will kind of HAVE to wait. ;P.

Well I meant waiting to start downloading their stuff if they were about to do so. wink

It's been delayed a bit because when I thought it was done I discovered a bug that takes some rewriting to fix, but I hope to have it all done and tested in a day or two. Will post here when it's been released.

It does, I've already downloaded several pages, just need to fix some problems with status reporting.

    Thanks for the tool,

Is working great, also on windows 10, just had to install .net 3.5 before.

The installer told me what was missing on my rig, w10 started the download and installation of .net3.5.

Since then I´m loading all my stuff (page 3 at the moment) without any flaws.

It crashes with double quotation marks being part of product name.

Yes, someone else has reported that too, but haven't reponded to my questions so I'm not sure what's going on here. Do you see the double quotes in the product name in the list view (left pane)?

Is a higher version of NET Framework (specifically 4.5.2) OK?

  • CybersoxCybersox Posts: 9,263

Worked fine for me.  I just wish RDNA hadn't deleted the product images for some of the older, discontinued stuff, as well as those for items from Vendors who've moved on.  After all this time, I'm having trouble remembering what some of it even is. blush

No, you'll need NET 3.5, but it's OK if you have higher versions installed also, they're designed to co-exist. Win 7 and later will normally offer to download and install any NET version you need (at least if they're older than the Windows version I think, not sure about newer versions) if you run a program that requires it and it's not installed.

OK, update is finished, just run the program or select "Check for Updates" under Help and it will download the new version. Just overwrite the old exe with the new one.

Oops, minor bug in 0.531, updated to version 0.532.

Me too. Looks like many products pages have been removed or disabled recently, and the program gets the product images via links from them. The pics may still be there, but if I don't know how to get them.

I have about 435 older product images though (2011-2015), downloaded with earlier versions of the program, and I know others that have some too, but I don't know if it's legal to share/exchange them.

Thanks!  A lot of my RDNA purchases are for the gen 3 figures, and I suspect a lot of those won't make the transition.

It's my understanding that our full purchase history will come over to our Daz accounts, the only things that may not make the transition will be active for sale products.  But our purchases should be intact :)

    No.  They probably won't.  You may get lucky and end up with everything, but this is from the very first post by DAZ_Steve in http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/72534/runtime-dna-content-migration-and-download/p1 ;

Some have asked how long items will be available for download at Runtime DNA, and what will happen with items not migrated to Daz for purchase.

    • As to if non-migrated content will be available to download through Daz3D.com, we don't know the answer to that for sure yet, but in all likelihood, no, they won't.

In order to avoid this becoming a problem for those that may own content that does not migrate (which should be a very small list, but we'll have clearer insight on that exact list soon), We're pleased to let you know that downloads of previously purchased items at Runtime DNA, however, will continue to be downloadable from there until the end of 2016.

Remember, non-migrated items are going to include things from Vendors who have left RDNA, so if you bought something from Bad Kitteh or discontinued items by Aeon Soul, you may be out of luck.

Yes, but it must be accessible when you run the program. I'm working on an update, I'll include a "does Root Folder exist" check.

I'm having a marathon laugh and got through 55 pages! then it crashed on page 56 after saving IGD Stasis and said it was looking for the image. It just died and Windows ended up closing it.

I'll try again, skip that file, and see what happens from there but I have a question.

Does the program know what page I left off on? It will take a few clicks before I can get number 56 to show on the downloads page. I wouldn't mind except that as soon as I click a page number the program starts downloading the page, then I click another number and I guess it quits what it's doing and starts downloading the next number I clicked on?

I've added more code for error checking, so if you get that error again you should get some details about what caused it.

There is actually some code that will reload the last page you were on but I disabled it as some other changes broke it. I'll try to fix it in next version (should be out later today). I could add a lot of nice features to this program but since it's a "use once and throw away" program I'll only add the most necessary things. I might convert it into a file browser later so you can browse the files and see the promo pics in the browser to easily find what you're looking for but that's a different story...

BTW, it you want to retry downloading a promo picture for an already downloaded file (file exists) you must click twice on the Promo Picture box, so you see a black square instead of a checkmark. Clicking only once it will skip trying to get the promo pic for product files that already exists (assuming promo pic downlad has already been tried here), if these are checked for download. Forgot to get that into the tutorial, it will be updated later with more details.

I've discovered a bug in the promo pic download btw, but it will not have any affect if you download both the file and the promo pic at the same time (both boxes checked), only if you check the promo pic box alone. Will be fixed in next version. In any case, if you use the Retry option (black square) it will try getting the promo pic for any file that's checked, no matter its status (except Red (Inaccessible/Max DL Exceeded) I think).

Will post here when next version is out...

Thanks for the info and the response.

As it turned out, I only needed three clicks to get to the page. Just had to wait for the full page load between. So it turned out not to be a problem. And I had checked both the file and the pic so all is fine. Have no idea what the problem was but it didn't happen again and......

I'm ALL DONE! laugh 71 pages of DNA love all the way back thru 2002!

    And THANK YOU, TAOZEN.

New version has been released and tutorial updated. If you have "Check for updates on startup" checked you should get an update window on startup, otherwise you can check manually under Help.

    For new downloads, it's here:

This looks great so thanks!  Is there a way to add everything to the download list?
