What's the little red triangle just at the base of Aiko's left-side strap, in the very lower-right there? I hope it's not blood... (o.o).

(everything is so perfect that blemishes really stand out <(^_^)).

Will the strap around her waist still have hems too? I really really love modelled hems (^/\^) - they look so much more professional than just a simple "tube" or "flat sheet" of material (like a certain other recent release #27 in a certain otheR Market Place - which, while textured nicely... just looks soooo... hasty, in the non-textured promo shot >_<).

btw I was thinking about how she might go about putting it on -- if there was a vertical hem down the middle of the piece around her waist, perhaps for buttons (or a zipper, or laces?) that would make life a lot easier for her ;-).

All $0.02c of course -- do as you feel inspired to <(^_^).

it's an issue with the way the hem generator turns the corner
i have to make it build 2 more loops. One of the ideas is that
one could make the hems invisible, and the paper-thin shell
could have custom hems done using bump/displacement/normal maps

yes the waist will have 2 hems larger and thicker

i think i'll make 1 material per hem so you can turn off the ones you dont like

don't know if you saw it but the real life inspiration for the crop top is

figure 1 : the hem generator is complete < sent from my Vic-20 >

figure 2 - BreastSize4

unfortunately, when i fixed problems with this morph i lost some tension

6134 quads for the hems
3072 quads for the crop top

that's very light i'd say yet very curvy

( ok i didn't really send it from my vic-20 t'would be possible though )

the hems about to go through UV-beautification

Figure 2

a script goes through the hem's rings,

for each ring, the vertices are projected on the plane passing through the green and red vectors

then the vertex is projected on the red and green vectors

this gives us x and y coordinates which are used to rebuild the UV map

---

Figure 3

later that day .... mostly done ! i have to improve corners but that will help improve the look

as we'll see in figure 4 ...

i'll probably add some morphs to tweak the hems ( width thickness roundness )

i'm sure everyone is as elated as i am to find out the crop top hem's UV map has been transferred to the crop top hem's 18 shapes -- also, Amy in Akihabara demonstrating the hand trick that lets you figure the direction of the vector resulting from the cross-product of two vectors

C r o p - T o p N e w s

minor change ( but hey )

the hems for the top part now have an un-wrapped UV map instead of a projected-through UV map

almost ready for the rigging phase and the collar-bend morph creation

so hopes are now for a weekend release

I'll almost be sorry to see this released - I've enjoyed watching the creation process. (I did say "almost"!)

I'm assuming that a transmap for the Bodycon was used to assemble the dress in the vector demonstration images? I might not use this as a crop-top very much, but the combination makes a great party dress.

i used the soon to be released second version of mcjShrinkWrap [http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24707/] to shrink wrap Aiko3-Stylized's body using a tube.

it's basically the way i built the bodycon,

indeed the bodycon coul've been used, i did use it with a transmap as a miniskirt in ...

Thanks, I saw the mini-skirt transmap and, indeed, downloaded it. That's what made me suppose you'd done the same to make the dress.

I can soon put together something of my own to make a crop-top-party-dress, probably using Poser dynamic cloth for simplicity's sake.

crop top news

so today may be the day i'll publish the crop top

here you see the mesh has been turned into a figure

i have to create the collarBend morph, re-apply the 17 morph shapes we saw so far

and i guess that will be it :)

--------------

Figure 2 -- as previously stated, i wont put much work in the creation of the collarBend morphs ( i used simple dForms in DS3 )
personally i often zero and lock the collar nodes on Aiko and sometimes transfer the rotations
from the collar joints to the shoulder joints

-----

figure 3, the 2 DForms (collarBend ) were exported then embedded in the CR2 figure

figure 4 when it's part of an animation it doesn't look too bad even at extreme collar-bend angles

figure 5 ( later that day ) the 17 morph shapes were converted into 68 morphs since figures are composed of 4 bone-meshes ( i work in DS3 you see )

Well, I went about things the other way around - I loaded Aiko 3, put a top on her, and so of course I had to add a skirt. You might recognise the boots though!

Thanks again for this, it works very well.

hems so they don't look paper-thin and maybe some morphs, they only fit the default Aiko3/Aiko3LE body

i also wanted an open-toe version

Thanks for the freebie Casual.
It's been interesting to read through this post and your shrinkwrap post, to see how the modeling process evolved.
I've seen many products with deformed textures, but yours look perfect.

Time to dig out Aiko3.

If you have problems with old Generation 3 clothes ( like my free mcjA3CropTop ) with Daz Studio 4.9, try fitting them with the wearer figure zero-posed - more work but better than never using that item ever!
