<p>Can you please help me with this issue? My characters and all&nbsp; objects in the scene appear gray all the time. In texture view is a dark gray, when I go into NVIDIA Iray view, is a lighter gray, but can&#39;t see the skin color in any case.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;m running Daz studio 4.22 in a macbook m1 pro with ventura 13.6</p>

I have used it in the past without issue, but I recently changed my install location, and now when I try to run the script it locks the Daz3d app. I checked my log and it seems to be building the UI and just get stuck after successfully loading some of the UI assets. Not sure what to try (aside from reinstalling, which I&#39;ve done a couple of times).</p>

<p>I opened up every file in one of the prop downloads I distribute and found no table of ordered triplets defining where vertices should go - no mesh data.</p>

<p>If there&#39;s no mesh data in the downlowd, how can users load the prop and see a prop defined by a mesh?</p>

<p>Open up an .obj and you can see the mesh data.</p>

<p>Open up a .duf file and you can&#39;t find any mesh data.</p>

<p>Whre is it?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hopefully, someone else has run across a similar&nbsp;issue and can&nbsp;suggest some possible other&nbsp;things to try.&nbsp; I have read several threads here about OmniHair issues, but my issue seems unusual.</p>

<p>On my&nbsp;Alienware Aurora R15 Win 11&nbsp;RTX 4090 desktop, my hair products with OmniHair shaders always render black no matter which color&nbsp;materials&nbsp;I apply.&nbsp; (e.g. products &quot;dForce Nordic Knots Hair&quot;, &quot;dForce Holo Hair&quot;, &quot;dForce HS Ursula Ponytail&quot;)</p>

<p>I updated my old Dell&nbsp;RTX 3060 Laptop&nbsp;with the matching Daz&nbsp;&amp; Nvidia driver versions, copied the same&nbsp;scene files to it, and the hair colors render&nbsp;correctly.</p>

<p>I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Daz app, resources, &amp; NVidia drivers:&nbsp;</p>

<ul>
	<li>Daz 4.22.0.16 Pro Edition (64-bit) [on Win 11]</li>
	<li>deleted &amp; reinstalled Default Resources for DAZ Studio 4.22+ via DIM</li>
	<li>installed and rendered with both&nbsp;the NVidia version 555.99 (06/04/2024) GeForce Game Ready Driver and Studio Driver</li>
	<li>verified the &quot;OmniHair Root-Tip Blend&quot; shader and its .duf file are available (Ursula Pontail uses this shader)</li>
</ul>

<p>I&#39;ve cleared the Daz logs and looked at every line after loading the hair onto the figure and after rendering.&nbsp; The logs show no errors or unusual messages.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve included a screenshot which shows the Nordic Knots hair on a stock G9 figure</p>

<ul>
	<li>with the Acquatic Blue material applied</li>
	<li>and Surface panel open showing&nbsp;the root/tip/glaze with the blue colors</li>
	<li>the hair still renders&nbsp;black in the spot render (same was true in the viewport w/ Nvidia Iray Draw Style&nbsp;and a full render)</li>
</ul>

<p>Any suggestions would be appreciated.&nbsp; Thanks.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I think this falls under technical help for content, but please let me know if there is a better place for this discussion. I recently bought a set of hair from Daz (<a href="https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-fringe-benefits-hair-for-genesis-3-and-81-female" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-fringe-benefits-hair-for-genesis-3-and-81-female</a>) and for the life of me I can&#39;t get it to work properly. I should have guessed something was off when the title said &quot;Genesis 3 and 8.1 Female&quot; (though the site lists Compatible Figures: Genesis 3 Female, Genesis 8 Female, Genesis 8.1 Female). The issue, however arises that the hair doesn&#39;t really fit properly or act how I would expect for any of those figures. For G8F and G8.1F the hair comes off as uncannily wispy and doesn&#39;t move floodly with the bodies as other dforce hair does, for G3F the hair doesn&#39;t move with the figure at all unless manuall moved. When I tried to auto-fit the G3F hair to G8F to see if somehow that would magically do anything, it just set without asking to adjust to the figure as G3F hair typically does.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve attached an image of the hair on the default G8F figure and the promo of the hair--the results are relatively the same for G8.1F. There are certainly some dials to manipulate but none led to the fringe being any fuller</p>

<p>In all fairness, I got this free with a coupon, so I think I&#39;ve gotten my money&#39;s worth, but I just wanted to see if anyone had suggestions for how to make this hair more in line with how the promo looks? Any help is appreciated.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I was trying to use some poses today that use the hip section coordiantes to move a G8.1 to a sitting pose away from the center of the scene. When the figure is at raw value, it works fine. However, if I resize her to a smaller size or use Zev0&#39;s GrowingUp system, her location will be off when using the pose. Is there an explanation and/or a fix for that?</p>

Online others have reported this (the third photo), but no resolution. I had to create the foot pose around which to model, and this is usually suggested by all of these tutorials, so that can&#39;t be the culprit?</p>

<p>If I save it as a Figure/Prop Asset, I can have &ldquo;Smart Parenting&rdquo;.</p>

<p>But if I want to add a rigid follow node, I can&rsquo;t save it as a Figure/Prop Asset (but instead a Scene Subset), and therefore cannot have Smart Parenting.</p>

<p>Bummer.</p>

<p>But is there a way I really can have both?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So, I found an old thread from two years ago with this same issue and it doesn&#39;t appear that it has ever been solved.&nbsp; I replied to that thread, but my reply was deleted.&nbsp; So, here goes.<br />

I want a transparent surface that catches shadows. ShadowCatcher plus and the Draw Ground ON function under environments accomplish this quite well for HDRI Domes and &quot;Distant Light,&quot; but they don&#39;t catch the shadows from the Point Light, Linear Point Light, Spotlight, or Emmissive objects, so they don&#39;t work for what I currently need. Does anyone know why this doesn&#39;t work, or better yet, have a fix for it?<br />
<br />
If you want to re-create what I am talking about, turn Draw Ground on, load an object, and set the lighting to scene only.&nbsp; Put in any of the aforementioned lighting solutions (Point, Linear Point, Spot, Emissive), and you can see, no shadow cast to the ground.&nbsp; Remove that light, and add a distant light, you will see a shadow.&nbsp; Remove that distant light, and toss in an HDRI Dome, you will see a shadow.&nbsp; I have fiddled with every setting in the lights themselves, no dice.&nbsp; Shadows are cast onto regular surfaces, just not on the transparent shadow catcher type surfaces...&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I remember having seen in the forums a script someone kindly provided, which readjusted the center of the whole scene to bewherever the selected figure/object was. For example, if you had a G8 standing in a room on the edge of the scene, the center value of the scene would shift to that spot. It was very useful when wanting to apply poses to the figure without it flying back to the &quot;default&quot; center of the scene. Or maybe it was the stuff in the scene and the character being moved to the default center, I don&#39;t remember how it worked.</p>

<p>I thought I had it saved somewhere and I can&#39;t find it anymore. Does anyone else remember it and can point me to it?</p>

<p>If it&#39;s useful, I did my test on Daz 4.21.0.5 on my Mac, so everything is done with the CPU.</p>

<p>I loaded the various VDBs props, who are supposed to be on fire, but I&#39;m likely missing something because instead of a cool looking fire portal, I have a brown sand storm:</p>

<p>Shows an icon of DS Default Resources</p>

<p>Sure enough, the hair looks wrong. Applying a color to the hair produces the same warning, and the hair looks different, but still wrong.</p>

<p>When checking DIM, Default Resources for DAZ Studio 4.22+ are installed, though I never installed DS 4.22. I&#39;m still using DS 4.21</p>

<p>Is there a way to revert to Default Resources for DAZ Studio 4.21 and stop the problem above?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Being vexed by something I have never noticed i had problems with even after over a decade of rendering but do have a problem with now. When I am setting up&nbsp;a render of a scene, I sometimes have to zoom out and adjust the aspect ratio to include everything in the scene that I want. However, widening the aspect ratio (say from 1:1 to 5:3) always seems to include more of the scenery from side to side but often at the expense of what is at the top and bottom. This can be annoying when i want to make a picture with a 1:1 aspect ratio but causes me to zoom into the scene in question too closely to get to the sides, or so far away I get blocked by a wall or some other object in the way. I can&#39;t seem to figure out how to change this. I hope I&#39;m explaining this correctly, but does anyone know how to adjust the aspect raio of a scene *without* having to change the POV at the same time to force me to see that scene from a different distance? There *must* be a way, but stupid me cannot seem to find it!</p>

<p>I have a point light shining up from below and notice the black man&#39;s hair truns gray instead of staying black?</p>

<p>I am using omni shaders on both&nbsp;of these figures&#39; hair.</p>

<p>The black man&#39;s beard and hair have the same omni shader.</p>

<p>The longer I render the worse the effect gets.</p>

<p>This does not appear this way in the iray view only in the final render.</p>

<p>What omni shader parameter is making the hair respond to the light in this way?</p>

<p>I know how to fix shine with roughness in the old iray shaders but not omni.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I recently started running into storage space issues with my ever growing DAZ content library (we have all been there). To solve this issue, I purchased a 2nd SSD Hard Drive, dedicated to DAZ content. Before installing the new drive, I wiped my computer and reinstalled my computers Windows 10 Operating System (OS). Since then, I installed DIM and DAZ Studio, and successfully configured them to install the DAZ Content into the 2nd Hard Drive (Changed Directory of &#39;My Library&#39;(located under my systems username), &#39;DAZ 3D&#39; (located under &#39;Public&#39; user), and &#39;My DAZ 3D Library&#39;&nbsp;(located under &#39;Public&#39; user) to the 2nd Hard Drive).<br />
&nbsp;</p>

<p>A couple of days ago, I noticed that a significant amount of storage space on my primary hard drive (where the OS was reinstalled) was being taken up. After investigating, I discovered that the &#39;My Daz Connect Library&#39; folder under my system username (on the primary hard drive) had +200GB worth of files in it (sort of defeats the purpose of getting a 2nd drive dedicated to DAZ Content).<br />
&nbsp;</p>

<p>While there are several tutorials out there that talk about moving DAZ Content onto a 2nd hard drive, none of them talk about the&nbsp;&#39;My DAZ Connect Library&#39; folder. Plus, the information on the internet about the &#39;My Daz Connect Library&#39; folder is scarce.<br />
&nbsp;</p>

<p>Would someone be able to provide or direct me to a tutorial for:</p>

<ul>
	<li>moving the &#39;My DAZ Connect Library&#39; folder to a 2nd hard drive?</li>
	<li>configuring (changing the path) DAZ Studio and DIM to use the new path for the &#39;My DAZ Connect Library&#39; folder on the 2nd hard drive?</li>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a very old hair model for G2F(<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/elite-ponytail-for-genesis-2-female-s">https://www.daz3d.com/elite-ponytail-for-genesis-2-female-s</a>) that I would like to use on a G8.1F figure. Her head is a little bit too big, but I can fix that with the hairs &quot;Expand all&quot; adjustment morph, which I can find under Hair-&gt;<strong>Actor</strong> in the parameters, so everything is fine so far.</p>

<p>But then I recognized that the hair&#39;s tailmorphs aren&#39;t working, and I recognized they stop working as soon as I fit the hair to the figure. I can load the hair without fitting and the movement morphs work, so I thought I just load it unfitted and parent it to the head. But then the &quot;Expand all&quot; adjustment morph isn&#39;t there and I can&#39;t expand the hair to fit the head shape. The &quot;Actor&quot; parameter is only in the hairs parameters, if I fit the hair.</p>

<p>So is there some way I get both to work, like transfering the movement morphs to the fitted hair or the adjustment morph to the unfitted? I already tried DS&#39;s &quot;Transfer Utility&quot;&nbsp;tool under Edit-&gt;Object-&gt;Transfer Utility to transfer the movement morphs, but that didnt work out. It seems to be the right tool, but maybe I&#39;m missing an option, I never used it before.</p>

<p>Or is there a way to just show the hairs hidden &quot;Actor-&gt;Expand all&quot; parameter when the hair isnt fit to a figure?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Running 4.22 on M1 Mac</p>

<p>The new upgrade will not allow me to use the upper menu &quot;EDIT&quot; and scroll down past &quot;DUPLICATE&quot; without the menu vanishing or flickering. If I attempt too often, the software crashes. This is the primary reason I use DAZ is to get to EDIT/OBJECT/MORPH LOADER PRO or EDIT/FIGURE/MORPH LOADER PRO to finish building in Blender. But now these functions are not accessible to me. There is no way to mouse over these selections.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I get that DAZ does not really support MACOS, but at least the last version was workable.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hiya guys!</p>

<p>So, usually, I don&#39;t bother posting in any forums but I am at wits end with this issue. I seem to be having this huge problem for the past two days where all of my Iray renders are coming out black or completely crashing Daz Studio. Currently, I&#39;m trying to un/reinstall Daz, but after trying this on the Install Manager, Daz Studio does not return to my list. I need to reinstall Daz Studio, so is there some sort of exe I can get somewhere?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here are the other steps I&#39;ve tried so far to fix this crashing and black renders issue:</p>

<ul>
	<li>Rebuilt scene from scratch</li>
	<li>Retexturize from scratch</li>
	<li>Reset render settings</li>
	<li>Check CPU box&mdash;<strong>renders will finish as black&nbsp;</strong></li>
	<li>Check/Uncheck CPU fall off box</li>
	<li>Create new cameras</li>
	<li>Check only CPU box</li>
	<li>Check only 2 video cards</li>
	<li>Check CPU box and 2 video cards box</li>
	<li>Check CPU and 1 video card</li>
	<li>Deleting temp files in Daz</li>
	<li>Deleting cache in Daz&nbsp;</li>
	<li>Updating graphics card driver</li>
	<li>Hiding/Removing certain objects from the scene</li>
	<li>Test render with just a figure and camera&mdash;<strong>sometimes crash, sometimes black, it worked normally TWICE</strong></li>
	<li>Save parts as scene subset and put into a blank scene</li>
</ul>

<p>I am only running Daz, or whatever program I am using at the time. My renders are working fine in Poser and Blender, strangely. I have no problems in any of my games with the textures on Ultra. I have not recently added any components or hardware to my existing set up. I have only installed two games in Steam recently, and haven&#39;t uninstalled anything other than Install Manager.</p>

<p>My system is:&nbsp;</p>

<ul>
	<li>Windows 11 Pro 64 bit</li>
	<li>Intel 10-Core i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz&nbsp;</li>
	<li>2 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 video cards</li>
	<li>32 GB DDR4 memory</li>
	<li>2 TB Hard Drive</li>
</ul>

<p>I have 3 of these computers and have tried Daz on the others. It seems to be the same issue to varying degrees. Is there a way to reinstall Daz Studio via zip file or some other exe, as it is not coming up in my Install Manager when I un/reinstall it. The crash message will usually say: DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module blah-blah-blah, a very long code that I can&#39;t recreate currently because I do not have Daz installed. Any assistance or advice while I wait on Tech Support would be great! Thanks, and have a wonderful day.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hoping someone can help me solve an issue that I experience on and off.</p>

<p>I import an OBJ into DAZ Studio, and accept the default PBR Metal Roughness shader that gets applied. I assign diffuse, metal, roughness, and normal textures created in Substance Painter. Roughness gets put into Glossy Roughness, not Diffise Roughness.</p>

<p>Anyway, more often than not, the textures appear blown out as shown in the figure below, which compares appearance in DAZ Studio, and in Substance Painter. I&#39;m not sure if there is something I&#39;m doing wrong in the SP export, or if there is some other scene setting in DAZ Studio that is blowing the textures out.</p>

<p>Any ideas?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>This is something that I have found annoying for years and I do not know how to fix it. If I import an object and move with it the local attached (object frame) coordinate axis set it moves in the direction I pull it and rotates it around the correct axis. (What is the proper name for that gadget, anyway?) But when I move the object using its parameters-pane sliders or by typing numbers directly into the number fields, It moves in a completely unexpected and, frankly, wrong direction. It matters not whether I use local coordinates or world coordinates.</p>

<p>Why does this happen? How can I align the parameters-pane axes with the object&#39;s attached object-frame axes? E.g. so that when I adjust the y-axis slider, it moves in the same direction as when I pull on the attached object-frame y-axis. In nearly 20 years of using this program, I have not figured that out (rather dense I am sometimes). I&#39;ve tied some of mcasual&#39;s scripts, like mcjChangeOrientation and mcjZeroOrigin orientation but they do not change the behavior I am describing.</p>

<p>After all this time, I&#39;d really like to understand what is happening and how I can fix it.</p>
