      <title>DAZ Stops Rendering Caustics If I add stuff to Scene</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>No idea how this is happening, but it is highly frustrating. I am rendering caustics with JM&#39;s Under Sea product, where caustics are made with a lgiht shining down on a plane with bump bamps to get caustics to show up. Everything works nicely at first--but for SOME reason, even though caustics are already showing up and working fine, if I add more props to the scene, the caustics stop rendering. The props are NOT blocking the light or the thing making the caustics. I&#39;ve had this happen multiple times over the course of many different scenes. Please advise? IT&#39;s frustrating spending hours getting caustics and lighting perfect only to have it ruined because I added a random prop to the scene.</p>

<p>Also, caustics stops if I add a light to the BACK of the scene, like for godrays. It also stops if I try using an atmosphere, but I think I can understand that one. Somewhat. Makes ocean scenes very difficult, though.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>[Failed to download (Install manager)] </span>I seriously don&#39;t know what is wrong. Of course it&#39;s on Windows 10. (Of course) So, anyone else ran into this problem? I can after awhile when I hit the download several time get it or if i download one item at the time.</p>

<p>No, it&#39;s not Windows Defender, I turned it off (Everything it have) while I try this stupid download maraton.</p>

<p>My other computer with windows 7 has 0 problem. So, is it server problem on Daz side or what it is it?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Occationally I need to shift the pivot point of a Genesis 3 figure for certain poses I create. (just using Gen 3 as example).&nbsp; I know how to shift the pivot point in the joint editor but I can&#39;t seem to add it to the parameter list for use on the generic Genesis 3 figure.&nbsp; I&#39;ve gone into the parameter editor and added a new parameter for it but it only seems to work with the current figure.&nbsp; I know I could save the figure as a new My Genesis 3 base or something like that but I really want to have the ability to change it through parameters.&nbsp; I&#39;d like to do it this way so I don&#39;t need to plan ahead what pose I&#39;m going to use.&nbsp; Initially a simple boolean choice would be fine.&nbsp; Ultimately it might be nice to have a continuous control i.e., move the pivot point directly up from foot to top of head with 0 at genital area which is the exact center point.</p>

<p>I&#39;m sure this can be done but I haven&#39;t found an explination how.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>For some reason, my lighting with Texture Shaded&nbsp;mode is suddenly too bright, and the figure I&#39;m working on is blown out. &nbsp;Wire Texture Shaded&nbsp;mode looks normal, and I don&#39;t remember changing any settings that could do this. &nbsp; This doesn&#39;t appear to be related to my lighting setup, as the render looks normal.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Anyone have any ideas? I&#39;m still pretty new to Daz Studio, and am just learning the program. &nbsp;I&#39;m a Linux user, and after giving up on trying to get DS to work under Wine, I installed Win7 to run it.</p>

<p>Edit: This problem doesn&#39;t show when I start a new scene. &nbsp;Some setting is changed in the scene for the character I&#39;m working on, apparently.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have downloaded and had the asset manager install my product but I get the error message..cannot open file.&nbsp; File does not exist.&nbsp; &nbsp;The change I made earlier was having my products downloaded to a different drive.&nbsp; &nbsp;The files are there in that drive so how do I get it to link to that drive and see my new products as well as not have to download all my old products.&nbsp; I want to keep my new information on the K; drive and not the c:drive</p>

<p>Please help.&nbsp; How can I get it to see the files in the new drive?</p>

<p>I am trying to figure out where I&#39;m going wrong with creating a geograft. I haven&#39;t even -done- the actual geograft yet, because I can&#39;t get the graft mechanics to work right. For reasons unknown to me, whenever I go through the Transfer Utility process and get to the &quot;Fit To&quot; step, the graft floats above the character&#39;s head rather than fitting. As a &quot;control test&quot; I decided to just try and graft a copy of the base character&#39;s head without even doing anything else to it. Here are the steps I followed -</p>

<ul>
	<li>Mouth HD and Navel HD to Zero</li>
	<li>Resolution to Base</li>
	<li>SubD to Zero</li>
	<li>Export using DAZ settings</li>
	<li>Import to Zbrush</li>
	<li>Chop off the head</li>
	<li>Export from Zbrush</li>
	<li>Import to DAZ using DAZ settings - matches G3M character still open in DAZ perfectly</li>
	<li>Transfer Utility - this is where things go awry - please see screenshots for example</li>
</ul>

<p>Can anybody please tell me where I&#39;m going wrong here? I didn&#39;t change -anything- with the model in Zbrush. I just chopped off the head and exported right back to DAZ. Things matched perfectly...and then it won&#39;t fit after the Transfer Utility does its thing.</p>

<p>It should be said that yes, I am trying to make a geograft of a character&#39;s face/head. I need to add topology that I just can&#39;t create properly with morphs. I won&#39;t be altering the G3M&#39;s facial features that much (just adding some spine-like features), so he -should- still be able to emote the same way as before. However, I can&#39;t get far enough into the geograft process to even test that theory.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I purchased the <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/ancient-arena">Ancient Arena</a>&nbsp;on April 22, 2017. Since then, I haven&#39;t experienced any problems with this great set. Yet several&nbsp;minutes ago&nbsp;I&nbsp;installed the Ancient Arena with&nbsp;Daz Connect and clicked on the product.&nbsp;Instead of seeing the usual&nbsp;images of arena props, I got images of white exclamation points. When I attempted to load the props into the viewport, a pop-up window appeared that said &quot;An error occured while reading the file, see the log file for more details&quot;. Perplexed, I installed the Ancient Arena&nbsp;through the Install Manager and nothing changed.&nbsp;When I installed&nbsp;the Ancient Arena in manually and attempted to load it into the viewport, I got the same error message. When I attempted to merge the props into the scene, the arena props appeared the way they would appear in the Solid Bounding Box view.&nbsp;This is very strange. I&#39;m thinking about doing renders with this set, and I would like to know if someone can help me solve this problem.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Is there any way to export Genesis 8 female with eyelashes &amp; body as a single mesh?&nbsp; If G8F genitalia are attached to the body in DS, then FBX export gives me a mesh with the genitalia as part of the body (&quot;welded&quot; to the body).&nbsp; How can we get the same thing to happen with the eyelashes?</p>

<p>I&#39;ve tried exporting with &quot;Merge clothing into figure skeleton&quot; enabled, but it doesn&#39;t change the eyelashes - it&#39;s still a separate mesh.</p>

<p>I am experiencing a whole lot of lag when previewing any animation that I can do, both using Timeline or aniMate.</p>

<p>Basically, once I&#39;m done (or I think I am), I want to hit play and look at how the animation is looking but what I get are jumps between frames, not a smooth playback.</p>

<p>Can anybody please help with this and perhaps suggest something to get it smoother?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>This morming, in Install Manager, I noticed in the Installed Tab, it states I have&nbsp;0 files installed.&nbsp; I looked up several items I know I have installed in the Ready to Download tab, and they were there. So my account is working, and it knows what I have purchased.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>I downloaded one item, it&nbsp;appeared in the&nbsp;&quot;Ready to Install&quot; tab, and then I installed it.&nbsp; DIM now states I have one item installed. I would much rather fix this than download and install&nbsp;year&#39;s worth of library content.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In July, I posted a thread here requesting help moving my DIM Downloads and ManaifestFiles Directory. I followed the instructions given and it worked. I am not sure this is related, but I am pretty sure everything was working normal after that.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/265586/dim-manifest-file-location-question#latest" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/265586/dim-manifest-file-location-question#latest</a></p>

<p>SUMMARY:&nbsp; DIM&nbsp;is not finding the information on what is installed. DIM is connecting to my account.&nbsp;All content is present in DAZ Studio.&nbsp; My Library has not been moved.</p>

<p>I thought this was the manifest files.&nbsp; I double&nbsp;checked the account.ini (and dlm4001.ini) in DIM&#39;s User Accounts folder&nbsp;to make sure the OverRideManifestFiles&nbsp;was set to the correct location. I need some help troubleshooting.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all I&#39;m new the forums but not new to daz. I&#39;m currently having issues exporting my animated face morphs from daz to c4d. All the morphs export correctly with my G2 male &nbsp;but when I open in c4d the results are less acurate than they are in Daz.&nbsp;When i open the FBX 2010 file in c4d I find it has duplicated all the morphs so there are 2 sets of the same things.&nbsp;This means that when I play it out in the time line in c4d the face over contorts and looks. Is there a 3rd party plug in to get make the export more accurate or am I doing something wrong.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Its a tricky one to explain so I&#39;ll try and break down my pipeline. I create a G2M character in Daz and apply mimic lip sync which in daz looks great. I then export it as 2010 fbx,exporting both head_CTRL and head_PHM &nbsp;tick the morph box, animation box (just to be safe) then export the full thing to c4d. Here&#39;s where the issue starts, when i open it the face morphs from mimic lip sync distort and when I check the exported morph sliders in c4d they go into the negative ie) as opposed from going from a value of 0 to&nbsp;100 thego from -180 in some cases to 100 which completely distorts the lip sync animation so its unrecognisable.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Is this a common issue with Daz to C4D compatability or am i doing something wrong?Any help would be mucho apprecated</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am trying to list a product for Smart Content and it seems the changes to the Content DB Editor have made this more difficult. Almost ready to uninstall 4,9.4 for the time I&#39;ve wasted this morning. Was this update done so that only content sold at DAZ3D can now use Smart Content? Store options are now Local User or DAZ. Why not an Other for store? Also I can&#39;t get it to place the material files (3Delight and&nbsp;Iray) in the product library or Smart Content. I&#39;m doing it the same way I did it before the update. So if anyone knows how to do this since the upgrade can they let me know please? I have a deadline and will just go back to the older version (which I fortunately have saved) if I have to to get this done.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a character, equipped with clothing and hair and saved as a scene/scene subset. This exact character with the exact same outfit is in numerous scenes. How do I make it so any change to the original scene/character&nbsp;is applied to each scene when said scene is loaded.</p>

<p>Right now I have to manually go through a gigantic number of scenes to manually update each, or&nbsp;pray that I recognize what scenes needs updating when I get to them.</p>

<p>Yes, I&#39;m aware I could save poses, hairstyles, props, clothing, render settings, environments,&nbsp;custom sculpted morphs, custom cameras,&nbsp;custom render settings, and custom matte settings individually and load every single one each time I want to change anything. That&#39;s what I&#39;m doing now and it&#39;s horrendous. Not to mention no batch renderer will do this for me so scenes have to be constructed regardless.</p>

<p>I&#39;m trying to recreate a game character who has a very distinct face topology (picture attatched). I&#39;m not sure what the best approach would be - geograft(s) or morphs? I have been able to sculpt some semblance of the brows and chin in Zbrush, however the details needed to sculpt something that resembles what I&#39;m trying to do requires subdividing, and then of course when I bring it back to DAZ as a morph, all of that pretty detail is gone (even if I have the figure&#39;s subdivision levels set to 3 or 4 - and then the irises get wonky even though I didn&#39;t touch them, which is a whole other can of I dunno). If I try to sculpt without subdividing (even using dynamic subdivision), I just can&#39;t get that detail because there isn&#39;t enough to grab onto and move.&nbsp;</p>

<p>My next thought was geografts. I&#39;m able to take apart the actual game model (this is for my own fanart use) and sclupt them right into the model in Zbrush...and it looks great. Awesomesauce. However, when I tried to create a geograft of the jaw area (wrapping from ear to ear), DAZ either crashes when I run the Transfer Utility, or...if it doesn&#39;t crash, when I get to the &quot;Fit To&quot; part, the graft just -will not- fit. It floats above the head. This leads me to a couple questions - what am I doing wrong here, for when I import the piece, it matches perfectly. Secondly, can I do an actual geograft of his whole face? Which would save me sanity since I can just put everything into a single piece? His facial geometry should still match G3 for the most part...all I&#39;m pulling out of the in-game mesh are the bone spur details (each separately)&nbsp;and building them right onto the G3 cheeks/jaw/chin/brows. If this is a possibility, will it still animate properly?&nbsp;</p>

<p>I will at some point need to add bones to some of the protrusions (the longer tendrils on either cheek) - which I figured the first tutorial would definitely apply. I haven&#39;t even gotten to that point yet - right now I&#39;m just trying to get a handle on the other bone spurs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It should be said - I&#39;m new to sculpting in Zbrush...but I think I got some bit of a handle on it. I just don&#39;t know if I&#39;m missing something on being able to get detail into sculpting at lower poly levels. The brushes only seem to really shine when I take the Gen 3 figure up over 1mil or higher. If morphs are the answer (and not geografts), would I find a better time in Blender? I tried Blender, and started taking tutorial classes, but I figured Zbrush was the answer in the sculpting departement (though I would -love- to not shell out $900 as my trial ends soon). Right now my absolute favorite thing about zBrush is the GoZ button. Love it. Love it. Whenever I try to use the Morph Loader Pro tool things just...explode. Like literally. My mesh explodes when the morph gets added. The same morph. *shrugs*</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>My goal was to hide the legs from the mid shin down on G3F and G8F. I created a simple .jpg to apply to the cutout opacity channel. White above and black below the line that I wanted the shin to go transparent.</p>

<p>It works perfectly in IRay render. But, the <em>previews </em>are messed up. It occurs with G3F and G8F. There appears to be a problem with the normals. The right leg shows through the parts of the left leg that should be opaque.</p>

<p>Again, this is only a problem in preview. Texture shaded, Cartoon shaded, lit wireframe all have the same problem. IRay preview does not. Here is a picture with the cutout opacity image file set to all white. You can see the right leg shows through the left. Since the image file is all white with Cutout Opacity set to 1.0, the preview should be solidly opaque.</p>

<p>See the first image. The second image is a screen grab with no cutout opacity image and cutout opacity set to 1.0</p>

<p>This is not a huge problem since the renders come out fine. But posing becomes a bit more difficult. Is there a preview setting that I have messed up. The problem happens with G3F, G8F, any prop I tried. The problem occurs with IRay as well as 3Delight shaders.</p>

<p>I recently met some serious problems when I try to use the dForce simulation on the Eastern Elegance content. Usually I receive the error messages &quot;Error during simulation&quot; or &quot;Can&#39;t prepare simulation&quot; (or something like that).</p>

<p>I also restarted DS and tried anew, but to no success. I also saved the figure as a scene subset and tried to simulate in an completely empty envorinment, but that also failed. I reinstalled the Eastern Elegance files, but the error is still persistent.</p>

<p>What can I do or what am I doing wrong?</p>

<p>I exported base G3 as obj. Imported in Blender. Modified&nbsp;shape in Blender by adding a little more meat in the hip area (No, I did not add or substract any nodes or vertices). Exported obj. Used Morph Loader pro to load new morphed&nbsp;figure. Loading went well, but results were unexpected. It&#39;s like if my character melts when I activate the morph slider...</p>

<p>Do you think I did something wrong with DAZ or Blender???</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m using Affinity Photo to handle the rendered png pics from DAZ. I have to&nbsp;convert them into sRGB to have it worked or else when I import DAZ pics into new CMYK doc, the overall colours will be changed dramatically. Is there anyway to assign sRGB or Adobe RGB to rendered file in DAZ environment?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello - did Smart Content change in one of the recent Daz upgrades? In previous verisons, Wwhen I had for example G3F highiighted in my scene tab, it used to show only&nbsp;the compatible products or materials and same if I had a particular product highlighted in the scene tab. Now everything seems to show up. Is there some setting I am supposed to change on the Smart Content so that only things that are for the product highlighted show up? I&#39;ve been having to go to my content library.tab but it was so much easier when smart content was working. I am still a relative newbie so this could of course be user error in something that I accidently changed...&nbsp;</p>

I am currently using a method of attaching a null controller to the Genesis 3 rig (Upper Neck) in order to have the head &quot;Look At&quot; a focus Null for animating. I got this technique fom a Daz 3D tutorial found here:<br />

<p>When I import the animation from DAZ as an FBX and import it into UE4 (Just the animation, the skelleton and physics assets are already in place in the engine), everything in the animation works correctly except that the face is completely contorted.</p>

WHAT I HAVE TRIED:</p>

When I troubeshot this, I found that it was due to the exported animation rig (FBX file) having a parented null, and the righ in UE4 is using a stock DAZ rig. Since the null is missing on the rig in UE4 it causes the animation&#39;s head to become completely contorted. When I export the animation without the controlled head movement, and with the Null controller removed, the animation works perfectly, no head contortion.<br />
<br />
I have found a temperary solution for this is to import a rig with the null controller for the head into UE4, however, this causes other issues such as other sections in UE4 have the face contortion due to the focus null not being present, i.e. the physics manager.<br />
<br />
WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR:<br />
<br />
I am looking for a solution that allows me use nulls in Daz for animation OR the ability to focus the head without parenting nulls to the rig and allows me to export the animation as a standard DAZ rig for import into UE4. Something as simple as &quot;baking&quot; the head movement generated by the null into the animation would be good, or being able to have the head focus on a point without modifying or having to parent a null to the exported rig would be ideal!<br />

I am aware that DAZ characters are not optimized for UE4 due to the high poly count and the added bones for better &quot;twist&quot;, however, I am looking for a simple solution for some small projects. I am looking to just use the DAZ rigging. I am not looking for a solution that involves me replacing / modifying the stock DAZ rig.<br />

I have licenes for &quot;Graphmate&quot;, &quot;Keymate&quot;, and &quot;Animate&quot; tools if needed for the solution.<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi, I am in the process of creating a scifi room, however when I apply a text texture from with in photoshop onto my generated texures, I always get a very bad render. As you can see in these two renders, the font is very pixelated and has some strange black muck around it and on it. In my 3D modeling application, 3DS Max everything looks perfect, even when rendering. but when I bring in into Daz3d I get this.</p>

<p>Any help would be most apriciated, as I am at my wits end on this one.</p>

<p>I read somewhere that you can copy/transfer morphs from one clothing to another using transfer utility. Is it true?</p>

<p>If yes, since I don&#39;t know how to use the transfer utility, can someone describe it step by step please? I have 2 similar dresses, one with morphs and a second with no morphs and I want to transfer the morphs from the 1st dress to the 2nd one. I also want to do this with 2 undewears.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Installing DSON in my Poser Pro 2014 wasn&#39;t too hard.&nbsp; But I can&#39;t figure out where to install the content that came with it.&nbsp; (And the manual doesn&#39;t seem to cover that.)</p>

<p>The GENESIS STARTER ESSENTIALS POSER CF clearly seems like it should go in the Poser Pro 14 runtime.</p>

<p>But where is GENESIS STARTER ESSENTIALS and all the stuff in GENESIS 2 STARTER ESSENTIALS supposed to go?</p>

<p>Am I supposed to create a new DAZ STUDIO runtime folder for it in Documents (that seems sensible, all my other Poser content folders are there)&nbsp;-- or in the Poser Pro 14 folder somewhere, or what?</p>

<p>The DAZ content tree is so different than the Poser one, that I don&#39;t want to just drop them in above the runtime in Pro 14 -- and clutter that up.</p>

<p>What are my options?&nbsp; What&#39;s the best solution?</p>

<p>And I guess this same question will apply to the DAZ content for Man Wolf and that ogre guy, and other similar DSON figures.</p>

<p>How&#39;s it suppose to work for us Poser users?</p>

What happens is that i&#39;ll leave DAZ rendering in the background, then sometimes when I decide to check on the render the whole application crashes, not even giving a &quot;woops there was a crash&quot; pop up.</p>
