Studio 4.10.0.123, 64 bit, dforce clothing item in the scene. I have done a number of successful simulations, so dForce is working.

Right clicking in the surfaces tab for the clothing only shows Expand Collapse Lock and Hidden as options. I understand that dForce Surface Adjuster is also suposed to show up, and saw a screenshot showing that, but it doesn't show up for some reason.

Is there some additional step required to get dForce Surface Adjuster option to show up when right clicking in the Surfaces tab?

Edit: I found the adjuster. In the screenshots I saw the option showed up with a right click on surfaces, but I did find it, in Surfaces Tab, but at the top in Pane options, the little square with the lines in it.

Works. Wonder why it doesn't show on right click, though.

Hi. I've noticed this on occasion but in my current project it's a big problem. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but this time I'm using a set designed for 3Delight, with all surfaces converted for Iray using the DAZ Uber Shader Preset. I render in Iray. The set is House of Barlow by The Management. There are a variety of wall textures in this set, but only one without doors or windows. But this wall also has a material zone for "details" which covers the wall in picture frames and light fixtures. Normally I just set the Coutout Opacity of this material zone to 0. The unwanted details disappear and it's good to go.

But sometimes I get this strange ghost effect and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. The first image shows a spot render revealing the "shadow" of the hidden details; the second is the viewport view with the problem surface highlighted. I tried removing all maps from the channels (bump, normal, etc.) but that had no effect. Any ideas?

Hi everyone :D

I've just changed my Daz Connect folder, and I had no problems since I can use every file.

But now I'm trying to install the products I've bought today, the installation is super fast, but no files appear: I've tried "Install Update" but nothing changes. The same if I uninstall and reinstall, update metadata, close and open Daz etc.

It's not just happening with this product, but with all the products I've bought today.

I'm using the 4.11 Public Build.

Had this ever happened to you? Do you know how to solve this? Thanks! :D

I have a basic question but I'm not sure how much sense what I'm about to say will make, so bare with me please!

I own these products and I'm planning on obtaining more such as these......

https://www.daz3d.com/the-boys-room

https://www.daz3d.com/selfie-stick-and-smart-phone

Here's the question. I know each of these products contains default surface materials for the screen of the phone/computer. In the case of "selfie-stick-and-smart-phone" I believe it can be customized but I haven't yet looked into the details of how to do it. My question is this, how diffificut or what would be involved if say I rendered a scene, then I reduced it down in Photo Elements because I don't own Photoshop and then somehow swapped out the default material with my render so it looked as though what they were seeing on their device was actually my render? Is that sounding too confusing?? Basically, I'd just like to replace the default materials with ones I created. I figure there must be a way to do this on the surfaces tab.

Thanks!

In view of the fact that DAZ Studio (pretty much all versions) is relatively unstable and crashes without warning, it would be useful to have the program autosave, so that when it does crash we don't lose all the work over the last hour or so. Yes I know I can also manually save every two minutes, but really in modern software we should not have to be bothered with details like this. Take cars as an example; how many modern cars have a manual choke for cold starts? None! Why? Because modern cars have an auto-choke. Likewise, modern software should have autosave.

So the question - if I increase the memory from 8 to 16 GB will this increase noticeably the rendering speed (IRay obviously)?

I'd like to re-install Daz to the faster drive, but was wondering what the best way to help myself make this easy would be. Install Daz to the SSD, but somehow tell it about all the products on the HDD? I seem to vaguely remember a way to add a content library once Daz is installed. I did it once but I don't remember what I did. Or just delete all and start fresh with a total re-download?

I noticed DIM recognized the old install ... do I need to remove that from DIM before re-installing?

Using Blender, I've constructed a model for use in a Daz scene. Typical workflow -- get the scaling right in Blender, assign materials to different zones, export as a Wavefront object. I import it into Daz wear I attach materials for rendering in Iray. I save the material preset so as I refine the model in Blender and re-import it, I can apply the material preset and instantly recover the material settings. It all works brilliantly.

Then I decide to add a decal to the object. Thinking about it, I figure I need to add it in Daz using the Iray decal node, just like I'm doing the materials. The decal node is parented to the object, but when I try to save the wearable preset, I get a message that says the object has to be a figure. OK, so I convert the object to a figure using Edit-->Object-->Rigging-->Convert Prop to Figure. A hip bone is added, but now I can save the wearable preset.

I start a new scene in Daz and re-import the Wavefront object, but I don't convert it to a figure. I apply the material preset like before, and I apply the wearable preset...and it works!

I create duplicates of the object, and I can mass select them to apply the material preset, but not the wearable preset. That has to be applied one at a time. But it works fine otherwise.

So my question to the smart people in the room is this: Am I doing something wrong here? The asymmetry has me vaguely worried. I can't save a wearable preset until I convert the object into a figure, but I can apply the wearable preset to the unconverted object. Am I corrupting something in my scene by using wearables this way? It seems like it's ok -- just a quirk in the UI that prevents saving it in the first place.

Not that it adds any clarity to the question, but here's a test render of the objects. The "Gravity Plating" text is the Iray decal being applied using the Wearable preset to the unconverted Wavefront objects.

I have a large scene with furniture in Blender. Now I'm trying to export the pieces one-by-one to DS.

In this case I have used the File > Import process to load a table into DS. As expected, it does not appear at world center (0,0,0) because it wasn't located there in the Blender scene I exported from. I can "find" it in DS by using the Frame button, and when I do I see the widget sitting at the object's origin, which is on the floor between the table legs.

The thing I didn't expect, though, is that the Parameters tab indicates that the object is at 0,0,0. If the object is at 0,0,0, why is the transformation widget somewhere else?

I thought I understood you could change an object's origin in DS by moving one of the control points that shows up in the Joint Editor, but again, the control point shows up between the table's legs. There seems to be nothing at 0,0,0 for me to move or adjust.

I've attached some screenshots showing what my screen looks like when the object has been framed and when zoomed out to show the world center, and showing what I see when I activate the Joint Editor.

What I want to know is: Is there any way to fix this situation inside of DS, so I don't have to break my Blender scene up into many separate BLEND files with each object moved to 0,0,0 before export?

Hi there,

I'm trying to use AtmoCam in a space scene where one of the walls is pretty much one giant window. I have a background loaded in and the whole scene looks and renders great, until I add in the AtmoCam volume (or any atmosphere dome product, such as Iray Dawn to Dusk 2). I've made sure the AtmoCam's volume is located inside the walls (as pictured), but for whatever reason, the glass is rendering as opaque. I've tried any number of IRAY glass shaders at my disposal, even a couple water ones. And it's not just this scene. I've had this same issue with other scenes where there is a window I want to see out of - I just can't seem to use any sort of atmospheric product with it. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or maybe the glass isn't the problem and the background environment map is?

I've attached screenshots of the scene, both with and without the volume sphere.

Thanks!

Hello everyone. I want tattoos I made in Photoshop to show really clearly on my character's skin.

Originally I opened the UV map and put them on there, but they blend with the skin and it's very hard to see them.

Then I read this thread

https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/66660/how-do-i-do-this-in-iray-solved

I made the Geo Shell, but I'm failing to understand past that.

I have torso tattoos, so that area is on. And it either looks different in the render (i.e. the shell is obviously lighter than the rest of the skin)

Or I match the shell to the skin settings, but that makes it worthless, and there is no change.

I'd like to make my tattoos look clearer and with more definition like when they were in Photoshop. Any advice? Thank you!

Hi, I recently got a new PC and installed Daz Studio 4.10 on it. Everything works fine, but there's a strange issue with the surface display in the viewport asea. Some meshes of the surfaces are missing/invisible. It appears on almost every object (figures, clothes, props, etc...) so I assume it's a program error. Does anyone Know how to solve it?

Hello,

I have just recently started using DAZStudio Pro 4.10 and have purchased a few items from the store one of which is Measure Metrics. I have installed my purchased content using the Download Install Manger and to the best of my knowledge everything is installed properly. However, I have noticed that when I try to use the Measure Metrics sub-product called Figure Metrics it doesn't work quite like the description and example video says it should. When I load a figure, select the the figure to be measured from the list and then double click on the Figure Metrics icon, the window opens as expected and gives me measurements, but it doesn't actually allow me to change them in the Figure Metrics window. If I make changes using the figure's shaping dials and then update Figure Metrics the values are achanged accordingly. However, based on what the product description says and the example video shows I think I am supposed to be able to enter values into the Figure Metrics window and have the character adjust accordingly. Am I misunderstanding what the product allows me to do, and if not, are there any ideas as to why it isn't working for me?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
