      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello all,&nbsp;</p>

<p>I am a new user and may be missing something pretty obvious. I created some custom characters based off miki2 in poser 7 years ago. I am trying to import them into Daz, but when I do, they are not there. The bones are there, but not the body. Everything shows up in the scene palette, and puts a box there when I select them, but they are not visible.&nbsp;It worked fine with Sydneyg2 and simonG2, but not with Miki2, JamesG2, KelvinG2, and KojiG2. Is there something different about these?&nbsp;Are they not compatible?</p>

<p>I have a question about products with Smart Content.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Many times that I use a product there are multiple duplicate choices for something. For instance, in the picture attached, you will see that for the Lash Utilities product, there are types of eyelashes you can choose from in the Shaping menu. However, many of these eyelashes are all given the same exact title, and they do the same exact thing. The &quot;Lashes Utilities 06 Pin-Up&quot; is listed 6 times, and they all add the exact same eyelashes to the figure. No difference at all in the name, the picture, or what shape they are.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>I have noticed this with a lot of DAZ content, where items are duplicated&nbsp;twice, sometimes more.&nbsp;Is there a reason to list the same choice multiple times as duplicates? In the case of the eyelashes, the lashes are grouped into types of lashes, and each one is listed exactly 6 times in the selection area. So I just pick one at random within the set. They are all Iray, and they are all the same exact shape.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Just curious. It&#39;s something I&#39;ve been confused about with DAZ Studio for a while now. It appears in many different products this way, where you have duplicate selections that have the same exact functionality.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi, been using daz for a long time but this is the first time I have had an error like this.</p>

<p>When I launch daz after it loads no window opens and when I try and click the task bar nothing happens. When I mouse over to see a preview of the app it shows what the attached image shows. No idea what has happened.</p>

<p>I have deleted roaming/daz and I have deleted daz and reinstalled to no avail.</p>

<p>Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!</p>

<p>I am new to Daz Studio and trying to create some characters that will be compatible with Anima from AXYZ design. One warning I am constantly coming up agianst&nbsp; whilst importing the FBX into Anima is that there are &quot;too many verts are weighted to 2 or more bones&quot;. It will then ask if I would like to continue and it will invoke quite a lengthy optimisation process.</p>

<p>Is there a way within Daz Studio to restrict the number of bones a vert can be weighted to without manually painting per bone? Thanks for any input</p>

When rendered in iRay, they will come out very saturated unless I place an actual light in the scene. Using emissive surfaces doesn&#39;t work. I have tried converting the surfaces in Uber iray but to no avail.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Daz3d refuses to use my RTX 2070 when it renders in Iray. At first I thought it was because of a lack of a sufficient amount of VRam, but when I attempted to render a volleyball and nothing else at all in Iray, it still used 100% of my CPU, which is a Ryzen 5 2600x, and not my RTX 2070. GPU-Z indicates that my GPU is not being used as well so any help on what my problem is would be much appreciated. FYI, I have my GPU selected in the render settings and also my CPU. If I just leave my GPU selected, the rendering will not work at all. I also tried rendering no objects at all and it still used 100% of my cpu.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m creating an architectural set for DAZ Studio. I watched a training video from Dark Edge Design, and one of the first steps demonstrated was to create a new base library folder for development, to keep packages being developed out of the normal DS library and help ensure the items you create are not unexpectedly dependent on other content.</p>

<p>Of course I did this, and now as I save my props into the proper product folder in my development library directory, support files get written out to the proper places under the development library&#39;s Data folder. All this is really convenient, because if I make a typo when filling in the Save As Prop/Figure Asset dialog, new folders or unexpected files will pop up in this directory tree, and I can immediately see what I need to go fix.</p>

<p>Anyway, now it&#39;s time to apply some texture maps, but the new directory structure doesn&#39;t contain a Runtime folder. So this is a question for experienced PA&#39;s: where do you put your texture maps during content creation so the product packages can be built correctly? Do you use the existing Runtime directory or is there a procedure to create another one somewhere else?</p>

Is there a way to do that and could anyone explain step by step of how to do it?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>This morning, DAZ Install Manager (DIM 1.2.0.6-64bit) reports that I have zero products installed. All of my products are on the Ready to Install tab, except for a few that should be (and are) on the Ready to Download tab.</p>

<p>When I start DS, all my products are where I expect them to be. That is, they are all installed in their various respective directories.</p>

<p>My DIM log doesn&#39;t report a crash, or a limit hit. It does show I&#39;ve got&nbsp;a few duplicates, and a lot of content purchased elsewhere that lacks tags. I have a LOT of products installed in DIM, almost 16K.</p>

<p>Does DIM have a limit? Is there a way to force DIM to check the disk for what&#39;s actually installed, in case I&#39;ve got something bad in DIM&#39;s cache or whatever? Is this a Postgres problem? Is there a way to check if that crashed building a LARGE table for DIM?</p>

<p>I&#39;ve recently moved all my DAZ content from disc C to disc D. I uninstalled all content, then changed the path in DIM and installed again. I&#39;ve changed the path in DAZ preferences too. But not all content seem to work now. For some items I get this error<img alt="" src="https://ibb.co/ZfYVdSk" />: Could not open file ... File does not exist. I do see it in my smart content tab, but I cannot load it.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Okay, here&#39;s the thing. I recently completed a Spider-Woman cosplay costume as part of a commission. And part of that costume includes a set of web wings that are beneath the arms, as seen in the included image.</p>

<p>To maximize availability, I&#39;ve been making versions of this costume for multiple Genesis generations. I&#39;ve successfully created complete versions of this costume for G2F and G3F. But while I&#39;ve been able to convert the bulk of this costume to G8F, I have to admit to being stuck in regards to the wings.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have two video cards installed (not using SLI connection). They are a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and a GeForce GTX 1070.</p>

<p>Within DAZ, I do see both listed under Render Settings &gt; Advanced tab and do have both selected.</p>

<p>However, when I have Task Manager open during a render and watching the Performance tab, I do see both GPUs listed but only the GTX 1080i is showing any activity.</p>

<p>The GTX 1070 does work. I have had it in the 1080 Ti slot before.</p>

<p>Any thoughts as to why the 2nd card (GTX 1070) is not being utilized? I thought from reading the forums that you should not have the two cars connected via SLI.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Ok, so I have another question.&nbsp; How would I go about creating a pock mark onto a character?&nbsp; IS there some sort of a morphing device in studio that can simulate that?&nbsp; I am talking about the kind of mark you get when you have chicken pox and scratch it.&nbsp; I have wondered about this for along while also and figured I&#39;d ask if someone here knows how to accomplish that.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have this shed prop and it is standalone.</p>

<p>I got the TreeScapes Backdrop product which places the trees behind it.</p>

<p>I guess I can load an HDR for sky with clouds, but then what do I do for the ground?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Are there any products that create beleivable looking ground planes, like grass, gravel, etc? ... The HDR images create nice backdrops and skys, but don&#39;t always create nice ground areas I am finding.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So I was wondering if there is an all-around product to create a &quot;carpet&quot; of different nature effects.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Due to issues unrelated to DAZ, I have to reformat my C drive and re-install Windows. I will need to reinstall all my apps, including DAZ Studio 4.9 and related apps (like DAZ Install Manager, Bryce, Carrara, iClone, Poser, Headshop, Hexagon,&nbsp;etc). Part of what will also change is that some of these were installed to D:\Program Files, and after the re-format, all programs will be on C. Most of the serial numbers are up in the cloud in my DAZ Account, so getting the programs themselves back doesn&#39;t look too difficult.</p>

<p>I have multiple Content Directories, and I&#39;ve used robocopy to ensure I&#39;ll have backups of those directories. I also have backups of my InstallManager/Downloads directory will ALL the zip files and manifest files. Will merely putting these files back to where they were (and re-creating the Content Directories list) be sufficient? I&#39;m trying to avoid blundering into a situation where I have to use Install Manager to re-install everything.</p>

<p>The content manager database is in C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\Daz 3D\cms (settings) and the \Content Cluster subfolder (the actual database) by default.</p>

<p>DIM tracks its installations via the manifest .dsx files in (as I recall) Public Documents\Daz Install Manager\Manifests</p>

<p>Is there anything else from AppData that I need to preserve? Will Daz Connect data be preserved if I just robocopy the files from that directory?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am trying to create an anthtopomorphic character using Toon Generations 2 Bucky (from Rendo). If I load the character, it looks alright</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Why am I pestering you with this?  Because it's an awesome native feature of DS4.5 that Poser lacks (the add-ons that make ERC controls possible are expensive external programs), and that we should all be using!  Between the figure setup and how easy that makes it to create big bone chains and this, we could really have massive sleeves and trains, chain weapons, creature tails, and anything else your heart desires in the realm of big strings of bones.  Some of you obviously know how to use it already, of course.  But if you don't, please learn.  It's so tremendously freeing to be able to do this with 4.5 Pro (and so much easier than trying to setup EasyPose figures used to be!).</p>

I went over this in the Clothing thread, but in case people missed that: </p>

A pose control is made by posing the figure, then setting up an ERC control for just that pose, thus resulting in a dial that lets that pose be dialed in to any degree.  It is an incredibly powerful posing and animation tool.  </p>

I just checked it with my loincloth (which has a lot of extra bones) and a double-ended chain blade proof of concept, and here’s a workflow that seems functional:</p>

1. Load the figure.  Pose it in the position that you want to have as a pose control.<br />
2. Load Property Editor again and right-click in the right panel.  We’re still going to ERC Freeze.<br />
3. Choose the clothing piece as your figure and ALSO as the Node.<br />
4. For the Property, choose Create New.<br />
5. For the Path, type Pose Controls.  For the Name, create a name (MoveRightFolds, etc.) which should automatically copy to the Label.  I’m not sure if having spaces will break the Name but it won’t the Label.<br />
6. Leave everything else alone.  Click Create.  (N.B. With my weapon WIP I found I needed to uncheck the two options other than Create Controller.)<br />
7. It will go back to the ERC Freeze options showing your new property.  Click Accept.</p>

Now you have a new pose control.  The chain weapons in this pic were posed in about two minutes even though each has 79 bones (an anchor and two 39-bone chains).</p>]]></description>
