I am not sure if title is clear or not, but I want to basically make a scene as though the viewer was the character, able to see the arms and chest and legs of the character like their own. I have played with frame widths, only to achieve that faraway fisheye effect that I don't want. Dimensions don't seem to do anything. I'm hoping to achieve a similar feel to one of the FPS games where you can see your character a bit.

Does anyone know how to achieve this? Thank you

This morning, I logged into Daz as usual. I changed no settings. I imported an OBJ file as usual. This is a file I have used in Daz in the past. I attempted to apply a texture to the file as I have in the past and found that the texture is not being applied as before. Instead, I'm getting a gaussian-blur level solid color for the whole object, without shading or reflection.

I tried multiple other OBJ files, including an OBJ cube made for the occasion, and all OBJ files seem to suffer from the same problem.

I tried an FBX version of a blender file. Same issue -- milky gaussian color remotely similar to texture.

I tried starting a new file with nothing else in it; same issue.

If I attempt to change the textures on a previously imported OBJ, the textures change as expected.

All other textures currently loaded change as expected.

If I create a new primitive (cube or plane) and change it's texture in the exact same way, the textures apply correctly as expected.

This is not a UV issue and none of the normals were changed from one object to another.

All textures apply appropriately to OBJ/FBX/BLEND files in Blender

Is this a corrupt DLL issue? Is there a shortcut key that blurs only some of the textures that I may have hit by accident? Any other thoughts?

I got this program the other day and have an issue I can't figure out or find discussed in the help manual. I pick several frames or scenes in a timeline in one file to render, but the program simply ignores those and just renders the same frame over and over again. It appears to choose the frame I was on when I closed the file last time. It also seems to ignore the cancel buttons built into it to stop the program. I actually killed it in Task Manager, rebooted the PC, opened DAZ Studio and the thing kicked off again.

Thanks

Hi, so my situation is that all my renders seem to be using my CPU only.

My card is a GTX 1080, I have the most recent driver - specifically version 430.39. Although I will note that I have the same issue with the previous version, 419.xx

I have tried both Daz Studio 4.10, as well as the beta, 4.11.

I have checked the Compute_0 graph in my task manager, it has 0 activity during a render.

I have the devices selected within the render settings in DAZ studio - the cpu and the gpu are checked.

I have tried rendering both complex and simple scenes to see if that makes any difference, it does not. I have 8GB VRAM.

I believe I have tried much of what is recommended in other threads, and am not sure where to proceed further. Is my card simply incompattible?

edit:

the CUDA graph shows activity, so it is working maybe?

Switched off GPU in Daz studio, cuda graph no longer shows activity. I suppose it is using the gpu after all. Seems to have no appreciable impact on render time though. Not sure what I expected I guess.

Has anyone figured out how to get DreamLight Movie Maker to work with iRay? With a few tweeks you can adjust the opacity setting and ambient light of the domes surface to see the background image but not the best settings.

I can get movie maker to work with Octane since the way octane modifies the material so that would be the key towards a solution for the environment that is being used for the product.

Just curious if anyone else tried any other solutions.

I have recently run into a specific problem in my latest scene that I wish to render. Whenever I click to render the scene, the faces of the figures/characters in my scene appear much darker than the rest of their bodies. Everything else is rendered just fine, but for some reason the faces of any figure/character I put into the scene turns several shades darker than the rest of their body. None of my other scenes have had this problem, and I am not sure why this is happening to this one in particular. I also don't recall using any particularly different assets in this scene that might cause this compared to my other renders. If anyone has any idea why this may be happening, I would greatly appreciate it!

I have some clothing items for my characters in DAZ that the smoothing slider is there, but it is always Default OFF. No big deal, I just click it ON before I render.

BUT now I have a render queue and it resets DAZ after each render. Didn't even think about that resetting all those smoothing modifiers to OFF again. Result: Render queue won't work with all these clothing items that default to OFF smoothing.

I have a similar problem with older clothing items. Some of them default to smoothing ON, level 20. Level 20 is way too much smoothing and results in weird spikes coming out of the clothing layers. I used to just set the level to 2 right before a render and problem solved. But if my Render queue resets DAZ those items will reset to default level 20, as well.

I purchased clothing assets for Genesis 8 female - dForce Multi Dress System - and was able to use one of the dresses for some test poses (prntscrns included). I then tried both exporting as OBJ for import and the direct ZBrush integration to move the posed figure with dress to Zbrush for some addtional work.

As you can see from the screen shots, what I got in Zbrush wa not what I see in Daz3D. It actually looks like it exported the figure with the stock dress for the Dress System, (which you see in Daz before you select a particular dress style in the system).

Being new to Daz3D I'm at a loss on what to try next. I'm figuring there must be some option that 'bakes' the current state of the visible objects together that I'm not doing before the export, so it's reverting to the stock dress model? That's a newbie's guess from me, but appreciate any help from the experts here on what to try next.

Also, would it be easier to use Blender as an intermediary between Daz and Zbrush to faciliate this? Didn't think so, asking anyway.

Thank you!

Russell

Hi everyone :D

I've noticed that some products give you decals, like this pack of tattoos: https://www.daz3d.com/tatts-all-folks

The problem with decals is that they move when you pose your character.

Right now, I'm "fixing" this with Rigid Follow Nodes, but that's quite boring and the result is not always perfect.

Do you know any faster way to fix a decal on a surface?

Thanks!

I am trying to make a new scene but DAZ bugs are causing troubles & I still have 5 - 7 characters to add to the scene but can't even pose the 1st one as required for my scene.

Some Poses completely ruin the shape of DAZ Genesis 8 Models

Example CDIG8M KneelA from the Capses Poses and Expressions for Lucas 8 & Genesis 8 Male. You can see the shape morphs that I have dialed in. It should be known dialing them to 0 does not fix the warped knees (although I left a couple of RareStone morphs dialed in on the head/face).

I attach the same morph dialed character in the kneel pose & the standard A pose - look at the knees, lower thighs, and upper calves - a total mess in the kneeling pose and it's been a problem for over one year.

What can I do to fix this if anything? No sitting, kneeling, and other poses with a lot of bends in the joints isn't really acceptable given DAZ 3D has one area of expertise and one only and I can't use it like that.

I exported Roughness, Base color, height, Metallic, normal maps.

In DS, I used Metallic/roughness

Metallic Map to Metalicity Parameter. Value set to 1.

Added base color image to Base color parameter. Color set to white.

Roughness map to Glossy roughness parameter. value to 1

Normal map to Normal parameter. Value to 1

Height map to Displacement parameter. Value to 1

Minimum displacement 0

Maximum displacement 0.5

Is there anything I'm missing here?

*Edit* Ignore the rivets. I was playing around with the roughness.

I also tried multiple environments in both Substance and Daz. The painter results were consistently better.
