      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>[Under performing GPU, could the solution be as simple as...] </span>A more powerful power supply?&nbsp; The renders are slow to start, and according to the benchmark software (Novabench) my GPU is seriously under performing, while the CPU is well within average so... here&#39;s my current setup:</p>

<p>Windows 10 64 bit</p>

<p>Daz Studio 4.12</p>

<p>Processor: Intel Core i7 2600S CPU @ 2.8 Ghz</p>

<p>Installed memory 16 Gb</p>

<p>GPU: PNY Gforce GTX 1070</p>

<p>Power Supply: 80Plus SMART 500W</p>

<p>I&#39;m already upgrading the memory to 32 Gb (the maximum my motherboard can take).&nbsp; After reading up on the topic, a 500W power supply might be barely enough, is that right?&nbsp; In theory, my renders should be a lot quicker, but I&#39;m barely seeing any improvement in performance since upgrading to the&nbsp;Gforce GTX 1070 from the Gforce 1060 it&#39;s replacing.</p>

<p>Before you ask, I&#39;ve defragmented the Hard drive, updated all drivers and made sure that Windows 10 is up to date.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So, I recently learned that my custom build has a bottleneck. My i5-8600k creates a 34% bottleneck on my EVGA GTX 1080Tis SC2 &amp; EVGA GTX 1080 SC. I understand all of it. I&#39;ve been building PCs for years now. What I don&#39;t know is if that bottleneck is an issue when it comes to iray rendering. I know the bottleneck is a hinderance when I am gaming even though my PC blows through every game I play without a sweat.&nbsp;</p>

<p>What do you guys think? Do&nbsp;bottlenecks that affect gaming affect rendering in iray?</p>

<p>I am in the process of upgrading everything but I really what to know the answer to this before I dish out $500 + for an i9.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Okay all. So I have convinced the BF to buy me a new machine on which to render and I want to know what kind of hardware I need for a good machine to render quickly. A little bit of background. Right now I&#39;m using an HP laptop with an intel i5 and NVIDIA GTX 1050. My boyfriend is far more computer literate than me and willing to build a machine. But I want to know what kind of parts I should be putting in it. I&#39;ve done a little bit of research and I&#39;m thinking an AMD Ryzen 7 for CPU combined with NVIDA GTX card but don&#39;t know which one. Any help in choosing parts would be awesome.       <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m making a new product and always relied on the first import of an .obj to come in as 3dlight default to get my 3dlight material. The new DS 4.12 my .obj comes in as iray.</p>

<p>As far as I know, there is no way, without a saved mat for that object to get back to 3dlight once it&#39;s iray. Got any ideas? Other than going back to 4.10.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello! I need some help in the problem of conversion custom-boned items from Genesis 1-2 to Genesis 3, like <strong>Creature Creator Addons for Genesis 2 Males </strong>(&nbsp;<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.daz3d.com/creature-creator-add-ons-for-genesis-2-male-s">https://www.daz3d.com/creature-creator-add-ons-for-genesis-2-male-s</a>)&nbsp; and Females. There were nicely made animalistic legs (bovine, feline etc) and I wanted to convert them from Genesis 2 Male to G3M, but encountered a sudden issue with custom bones. I&#39;ve read three tutorials by Sickleyield&nbsp; about saving custom bones on conversion (<a rel="nofollow" href="http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Tutorial-Custom-Bone-Rigs-G2F-to-Genesis-Convert-398192766">this one</a> and others), but with those addons they didn&#39;t help much. Formerly I managed to convert many hairs with custom bones, following tutorials, but legs seemingly have more complicated rigging and I don&#39;t know how to combine upper Thigh bones of Genesis 3 with lower legs and feet bones from original addons.</p>

<p>Here is the original rig of one of such addons (Bovine Legs) for Genesis 2 Male -</p>

<p>At first, I shaped my first item (<strong>Bovine Legs</strong>) after the clone of G3M in Genesis 2 Male and got the OBJ of the legs, which fits Genesis 3 Male. Then I loaded the original Bovine Legs and transferred rigging from these original legs to this new geometry, so I got the new figure, let it be <em>Male Legs Bovine Conformed 01.</em> But this figure is unusable for Genesis 3 Male because of the wrong rigging, because Genesis 2 has one Thigh bone and Genesis 3 has two thigh bones. I thought that I may conbine 2 rigs and decided to use Autofit to fit the new legs to G3M. Autofit destroys all custom rigging as usually and replaces it with Genesis 3 Male&#39;s bones. Here are the results of the autofit.</p>

<p>As it clearly seen, after applying the most of poses legs are distorted.</p>

<p>At the second attempt to fix it, I deleted all the odd unneccessary bones in these new autofitted Bovine Legs like individual toes of the feet and metatarsals, renamed all bones according to the original rig (e.g. <strong>Left Foot</strong> to <strong>Left Foot CC</strong>, <strong>Left Shin to Left Shin CC</strong>) and so I&#39;ve got the rigged structure, close to the initial rig. But the position of these bones remained wrong. I hoped to fix it with Transfer Rigging from the original Bovine Legs to this new item, but in vain. It doesn&#39;t help.</p>

<p>As the third variant, I used Transfer Utility again and transferred rigging only from the original Bovine Legs to the new item from the attempt # 2 with <strong>Merge Hierarchies</strong> checked on, and when I got two parallel rigging sets in one the same figure, I kept just Thigh Bend and Thigh Twist bones from the autofitted G3M&#39;s version of the legs and deleted all autofitted bones from the shin and lower. Then I reparented original Shin CC and its child bones to these Thigh Twist bones and after all I got some hybrid rig, which upper part corresponds to G3M and lower to the original addon. Here is this final item.</p>

<p>But there is the same problem - now this item remains unusable for G3M, and requires autofitting or Transfer Utility again to conform it. And these actions destroy the custom rig. I tried to use a fast way with Transfer Utility with <strong>checked Merge Hierarchies and unchecked Remove Unused Bones</strong>, but DAZ Studio crashes every time. If I parent these legs to G3M without conforming, they don&#39;t follow morphing and posing, naturally. So it needs to be conformed by any way. How to combine two different rigs in these and other similar items? I remember I had no problems with custom hair like braids, whose root bone is Head and custom bones were parented to head, and the most part of problems with high-heeled converted shoes I managed to fix with Transfer Rigging. Why these methods do not work in this case and what to do to get the best of such conversions?</p>

<p>P.S. Would be nice to have this package recreated for Genesis 3 by professionals, I hope one day we&#39;ll see it in the shop. But there is many other earlier monster addons for Genesis and V4-M4, so I think my problem is rather wide-spread and should have solutions.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>First time I ever used ERC freeze &ndash; it made sub-d go off the charts on some parts of my model.</p>

<p>Model: a camper trailer hull with a rigged door on one side.</p>

<p>The door is a compound door, as in, a door parented to another door. Each door opens 45 degrees to make a full 90 degree opening.</p>

<p>So, I ERC froze the two 45 degree opening slider controls together to make the parent slider produce the full 90 degree opening motion.</p>

<p>When I did this, random parts of the camper hull became super distorted by what looks like sub-d cranked up to an outrageous degree.</p>

<p>Can this be remedied?</p>

<p>This was also my first time rigging a mechanical model. I used SicleYield&rsquo;s tutorial: <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNFHv8K8qKg">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNFHv8K8qKg</a></p>

<p>At 2:30 she says to click on sub-d. Was that the cause of this problem?</p>

<p>I was wondering why it is that after I have loaded a scene that the background colour in the viewport window changes from gray to black. Is there somewhere that I can define the background colour? I have looked in the preferences section and it says that I can select a background image but doesn&#39;t say anything about the colour.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I&#39;m trying to export a simple pose morph from Daz to C4D, but I get bad results with my imported FBX&hellip; I&#39;ve attached a screen grab which more or less shows what&#39;s happening. The figure mesh is being deformed by both the joints/bones and the C4D Pose Morph tag and there&#39;s some bad deformation happening with the fingers and feet&hellip; Is there no way to just bake the morph on export from Daz to point cached geometry, such as an Alembic file. Maybe there&#39;s a way to fix this is C4D, but the Pose Morph has so many animated paramters it would be a real pain the backside to figure out what&#39;s going wrong here.</p>

<p>I&#39;m new to content creating, I&#39;m trying to create some heeled shoes so I followed this video for the rigging part <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tbhf7cwq9hM">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tbhf7cwq9hM</a></p>

<p>The problem is, after I use the Transfer utility my model is offseted or morphed a little, as you can (barely) see in the attached pictures. I tracked down the issue to be linked to the &quot;Fit to...&quot; part of the transfer because if I don&#39;t do it the shoes stay in place.</p>

<p>I modeled around the same posed Genesis 8 I&#39;m using for the Transfer utility (with no morphs) so I really don&#39;t understand why this is happening (i&#39;m doing the JCM trick detailed in the video too).</p>

<p>Is there something i&#39;m missing in the process? The video is for Genesis 3 so I don&#39;t know if there is something different with G8?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>It is a major source of frustration (and expense and added&nbsp;time) that some commercial pose packages slam the character back to universe zero-zero-zero when you apply a pose, any&nbsp;pose.</p>

<p>From videos I&#39;ve seen, there are ways when saving a pose preset to avoid that exact issue, but apparently some PAs who market poses either don&#39;t know it or think (for some reason) that nobody ever has a need or a right to place and pose any character anywhere other than X0-Y0-Z0.</p>

<p>Is there any way to stop this scene-and-animation-destroying behavior? Is there any way to <strong>force</strong> any of these badly behaving pose packages to implement the pose <em><strong>in the location that the character is in</strong></em> when the pose is called?</p>

<p>I already know the enormously time-consuming ways to RETURN the character to the original position after the application of an &quot;I&#39;m-the-one-in-charge-here&quot; pose package suddenly transports the character where I don&#39;t want it to be. That isn&#39;t what I&#39;m asking. I&#39;m asking if there is any way to force such a set of poses not to do the damage in the first place.</p>

<p>I can&#39;t be the only one who has dealt with this. For animation, it sure can do an enormous amount of damage.</p>

<p>i am running into some issues when rendering and I&#39;m not sure why they&#39;re being caused. hopefully some of you more experienced users can explain why this is happening</p>

<p>1- some black sploteches in my renders, on hair and eyes(the other eye also has it)</p>

<p>2- I cant get SSS to work no matter how much i increase the slider</p>

<p>3 - i really cranked up samples but i still get aliased shadows and lip artifacting. not sure how to fix these either</p>

From the videos I&#39;ve been watching I had the impression that there should be lots of options for the shaping the Genesis character&hellip; I&#39;ve attached a screen grab of my shaping editor window showing that all I have in there are five options for full body shaping but nothing under the other folders except &#39;Real World&#39;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>The default perspective camera, which spins around the default Genesis 8 female when I use the cube, doesn&#39;t spin around the model when I drag. It spins around the ground it is above, how do I make it so it spins around the model again when I drag?</p>

<p>I can&#39;t click on the model to select a bone to move. I used to be able to drag around the model and double click on a part to move it, how do I get that back?</p>

<p>The Genesis 8 female model&#39;s movement limits are severely limited. When trying to bend the character forward she goes only a tiny bit with the slider at max. She only twists a little with the twist slider at max. When I try to move her hands it won&#39;t go up, the slider maxes out at an incredibly slight incline. How do I get the full range of motion back to where it was?</p>

<p>When I fire up Daz3d I get an error message, &quot;a valid postgresql cms connection could not be established.&quot; I specifically re-downloaded and re-installed DAZPostgresqlCMS_9.3.4 and no change. <p>I&#39;ve uninstalled Daz, deleted everything I had, deleted every folder related to Daz I could find then re-installed, it changed nothing.</p>

<p>Daz3d worked perfectly well, with no issues whatsoever, at the beginning of April. Now nothing I do changes anything and nothing works like it used to. What happened?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi there I regurlarly use Daz, and since the beginning Ive had and used little tool icons at the top of my Daz window above the viewport, and I also had some other icons for quick fixes of poses, that was from a sript I got a while back. Everything was fine for a while and one day when I oppened Daz all the little icons at the top where missing. Some really essential ones too such as the Back and forwards arrow and some other ones I use. Can aybody help me to get them back? Ive looked over at the Windows tab to see if I can put it back on but I am not sure which one it is or how to do it.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a question regarding the reargate&#39;s sub-gate extension for the Vanguard. How do you get it to extend properly in Daz Studio? When I select the &#39;rear&#39; body part in the scene window and expand it there is a reargate sub-part. The reargate has an &#39;open/close&#39; parameter that opens it but not quite to the ground. The reargate in turn has a sub-part called the subgate. The subgate has a parameter called &#39;subgate extension&#39;. When I use that dial, the ramp moves away from the reargate at a 45 degree upward angle. There is an x-translate dial but the y and z translate dials are not there. How does anyone who has used the Vanguard in Daz Studio extend the subgate properly? In Poser it is operated using an ERC dial.</p>

<p>I am trying to create a sci-fi scene on an alien world where there is a planet in the sky. I can create the scene simply enough when it is daylight but I would like to light the scene at night with the planet lit in a similar fashion as we see with the moon (full, crescent etc.) Does anyone have any tips on how I might light the planet to get that effect? I am using a starfield HDRI with no sun in it for the night scene.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I just purchased and downloaded the Leony Ponytail for Genesis 3 Female. I running Daz Studio 4.12.0.86 Pro Edition. The hair is showing up fine in the Viewport but when I render, it&#39;s coming out almost like negative space. I&#39;ve tried deleting the hair and re-applying it. I&#39;ve tried different colors/materials. I&#39;m sure it&#39;s probably some render setting but I don&#39;t know enough about that kind of thing to try changing anything. Help, please!</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve been working with a&nbsp;addon recently (Divisible for G8F) that uses the skin textures of a model to simulate magic limb separation. The way it works is you apply the cap onto the limb (to create the illusion of separation)&nbsp;and apply the skin textures onto the cap and it should look good. However, not all GF8 characters come with an &quot;apply skin&quot; option, which usually works for me. So I went into surfaces and tried to manually replace the current GF8 base model textures with the one I was working with, and in the simulation it appeared to work. But, when rendered (in Iray), it comes out looking tanned. Both the figure and the cap have the same Iray Uber shader and I am positive I replaced the textures correctly, so I&#39;m not sure how to fix this.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>[Is there any way to save a skeleton as a pose?] </span>What I mean is, for example using a genesis 8 character, I apply a character shape, that will change the skeleton. For example Dain, that is wider than default g8 male.</p>

<p>Then I would like to load that pose in a default g8 male character where it will rotate the arms , fingers etc and also will scale the bones, deforming the character.&nbsp; From my test , I can not save teh scale only the angles.</p>
