      <title>Daz won't load textures and files</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi, I&#39;m using Daz Studio 4.12, I&#39;ve downloaded several characters and placed in the content folder of my library, usual procedure, characters and clothes appear in Daz so it should load normally, but I get tons of missing textures and files erros messages, and I have no clue of&nbsp;why because if I&nbsp;follow the paths in the error messages the files are all there, any ideas?</p>

<p>EDIT:&nbsp;Nevermind, I moved the &quot;data&quot;, &quot;people&quot; and &quot;runtime&quot; folders out of the &quot;content&quot; folder to the &quot;my library&quot; folder and everything worked.</p>

<p>I recently saved a bunch of figure prop assets.</p>

<p>You can see on the left that the preview image for the asset shows what it looked like in viewport when i saved.&nbsp; Then on the right in the viewport, you can see how the asset has loaded back into a scene.&nbsp;Some of them turned out okay, but some of them have&nbsp;UV&#39;s corrupted, and some of them just turned out to be rectangles.</p>

<p>No idea what this is all about.&nbsp; The settings were the same for each one on saving, so cant reason as to why result is different and corrupted.&nbsp;I&#39;ve never had any issues saving assets before until today.</p>

<p>I purchased Private Pool ( <a href="https://www.daz3d.com/private-pool" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.daz3d.com/private-pool</a> ) the other day, loaded up the sample scene, added a G8 figure and rendered.&nbsp; It was taking a long time so I checked the log and it had an out of memory error for the graphics card (RTX 2060, 6 GB) and so was using the CPU.<br />
<br />
Thinking I had too much stuff in the scene, I loaded the building prop alone, applied the iRay mat and rendered with Task Manager open.&nbsp; The GPU memory suddenly shot up to 6 GB, and it rendered a noisy stripe perhaps 30 pixels wide at the bottom of the image in 17 seconds. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
I updated the drivers to &nbsp;445.75 and tried rendering with OptiX Prime on and off to no avail. It doesn&#39;t seem like a very complicated scene to render, except perhaps the caustics of the water.<br />

I can pose the figures then apply the geografts and texures but I can&#39;t change the pose once the geografts are applied and while I know it&#39;s been a while since the last time I used it ,I don&#39;t remember having this problem...... and it is happening with male and female figures ......help?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I recently installed DAZ Central and it really messed things up for me.&nbsp; I have since deleted it and using DIM I uninstalled all of my content.&nbsp; Now when I install resourses&nbsp;through DIM, on some files there is no link to DS.&nbsp; When I try load a charachter, I see the thumbnail image but when I load it I get a message that say the .duf file does not exist.&nbsp; When I right click on the file and select browse to file, the files are actually there where they are supposed to be. Why does DS not know that?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am trying to make an animation in which the Genesis 3 model&#39;s hair moves, using the morphs that were included with the hair object (Emma and Jordi&#39;s Shavonne hair). I figured out how to show the morphs in the timeline by adding &#39;hidden&#39; to the Types selector. I can see the keys marked as &#39;T&#39; appearing on the timeline when I adjust the morph slider - in this case, &#39;Back Out Wind&#39; (see attached image).</p>

<p>If I render the animation at that point, the movement is captured as intended. However, if I save the file and open it again, all of the keys for the morph have disappeared from the timeline. Why isn&#39;t Daz saving the keyframes for the hair morph? Am I missing a step or a setting somewhere along the way?</p>

<p>The keyframes for elements that have bones are saving just fine. I noticed that the keys for those appear as a small triangle in the timeline, not a T. What is the significance of that?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>For testing purposes it would be convenient to have a runtime with no other data in it. Is this possible to do on the same machine? Just genesis male and female and the clothing basics?</p>

<p>I am specifically running into some bad data that is being saved with characters... Morphs such as monster teeth, bodyshaping etc. ... Such as character morphs, weird mispellings etc.&nbsp;</p>

<p>SO I want to circumvent that if I can.&nbsp; I realize I can use another computer, but my only other is a laptop and I don&#39;t find it convenient to use for posing</p>

I look in the file folder and everything is there as far as I can tell (still a newbie,)&nbsp;so I don&#39;t understand why it&#39;s not showing up, and why I can&#39;t do anything with it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I did uninstall it and reinstall it. I haven&#39;t tried manually adding it.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Can anyone explain to me why you would need to purchase an interactive license to use a plug-in; even one that exports files from DAZ in new formats. It seems that the plug-in cannot be sold on in other models or used in games or even imported into other packages to manipulate. It can solely be used in DAZ. I am thinkng in particular about the Alembic&nbsp;exporter. But other plug-ins seem to have an interactive license option as well.</p>

<p>Anyone got any ideas?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey there, are there any tips on what settings I should be using when importing OBJs from Blender? I&#39;ve consistently run into issues where my imported objects scale down to a tiny size after I try to run them through the transfer utility to weight and parent them to my character. <p>According to my DAZ Connect Cloud file there is currently over 1TB of files stored there, which seems rather high to me...&nbsp; Is it&nbsp;unusual for the cloud file to be this large and if not can these files be deleted without effecting Studio or its operation?</p>

<p>The pathway for this file on my<strong> &quot;M&quot; Drive</strong> where my Sudio Library is installed is<strong> M:\My DAZ Connect Library\Data\Cloud</strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>If these files can be deleted do I keep the Metadata file or does it get deleted also?</p>

<p>I notice that the eyes (more precisely the pupils) seem to lose the roundness and show a Salvador Dali effect .... they get a shape like they slightly melt and flow down ...like Dali watches. The Problem is not very dramatic and mainly disturbs when taking portraits. Maybe a user knows a trick to fix the problem?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>It seems that if you have a seperate beard mesh, and you export a figure with this it will create morphs identical to the face morphs you export.&nbsp; The issue with this, is that in any other program you now have 2 seperate morphs to deal with, one for the beard, one for the face.&nbsp; If you move part of the face .35 then you must move the beard .35 as well or they don&#39;t match.</p>

<p>Daz does not obey export rules here, so it does not appear as though you can say: don&#39;t export these morphs and bake the beard into figure.</p>

<p>What is interesting is that I have duplicates of the face morphs so the some of the face morphs (ones that start with head.something) seem to work as expected, where they and the beard work as one.</p>

<p>My question is, how can you tell Daz to use another morph like head.something so it too will be one with the beard?</p>

<p>So really what is the difference between&nbsp; Genesis8male.brows_up and head.brows_up?</p>

<p>I come from a background of software development, and I&#39;m looking for tools that are similar to Git and Backup, but for Daz Studio.</p>

<p>Functionalities I need:</p>

<p>1) A way to cloud backup all my project files so that I can recover it easily in case of HDD failure.</p>

<p>2) A way to collaborate as a team with another 3D artist (like git), where we can stage, commit and push changes to a central repository, and the other part can fetch and pull these changes. Dependencies should be handled automatically.</p>

<p>I know that this product was originally created for Genesis 3 but so far the auto-follow always has done a good job when I used products from earlier generations on G8.</p>

<p>Does anyone know a trick to fix this issue?</p>
