<p>1x4096 map&nbsp;would be the equivalent of&nbsp;16x 1024 maps, correct?&nbsp;</p>

<p>imagine&nbsp;I have 16&nbsp;different trees each with a UV map that is 1024x1024 and&nbsp;I then stitch all those 1024 maps into one giant 4096x4096 map.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now when I load 16 trees into the scene, will the system have to load in 16 instances of that 4096 uv map, or will it only have to load the map once into memory?&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am hoping someone has an answer. I have researched evrywhere but found no satisfacgtory answers. All of of a sudden, the screen resolution on my Daz Studio workspace has shrunk to super high resolution, with tiny fonts that is making it very difficult to use the sofware. I&#39;ve tried the windows scaling adjustments but it is not working. I am running both the 4.11 and 4.12 versions and this change is in both versions.</p>

<p>Is this an NVIDIA issue? I have the very latest NVIDIA Studio drivers.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>I have been using Daz3D for a little over a year with a GTX 1070 before upgrading a few weeks back to RTX 2080Ti. I saw a big difference in render times between the two GPUs.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span>I am moving my system to a new case, where my initial idea was to use the 2080ti and also an RTX 3080. With the 3080 been used primarily for rendering while using the 2080ti for gaming. Or using both at the same time when I am away from my desk. My question is, when it comes to using two GPU&#39;s and check marking them to be used in Daz, does Daz use the cuda cores of both GPUs or only the one that is using the VRAM for the scene?&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span>So, for example. Let&rsquo;s say its a 4GB scene. Will it be rendered only by the 3080 with 10GB of&nbsp;Vram or by the 2080ti with 11GB? Let&rsquo;s say it&rsquo;s the 3080, when rendering will Daz use the cuda cores of the 2080ti or second gpu to help with the rendering at all?&nbsp;</span></p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Greetings all,</p>

<p>Sometime in probably mid-late November to December, I plan on getting my first PC in over two decades - I&#39;ve been a Mac user for that long. I intend on staying a primary Mac user, but I&#39;m looking to get a PC to use as a render box, as I have been really enjoying learning/working with Daz, but haven&#39;t enjoyed the render times with my bigger scenes :-)</p>

<p>As the subject says, I&#39;m curious about peoples opinions around:</p>

<ol>
	<li>Building a computer</li>
	<li>Hiring someone/company to build it for me</li>
	<li>Buying a computer from a company (which may be a glorified version of 2)... think Alienware, Titan, Digitalstorm, etc.</li>
</ol>

<p>I&#39;m well aware that theoretically you can do #1 cheaper, and the resulting computer won&#39;t have company bloatware on it. However, as I noted, I haven&#39;t messed with PCs in over 20 years, and I don&#39;t have a lot of experience in building them (and any experience is probably 25-30 years old). At least with #2 (and maybe #2) - there is tech support (which may be good or bad) and warranties... with #1, if I jack up some expensive part, well, its a loss.</p>

<p>So, for a hardware noob like myself, is #3 worth the extra money for simplicity and support? Or is the cost savings so good with #1, I should build it myself? Or is #2 a good compromise?</p>

<p>Followup question - for #2 and #3, any good companies/people to recommend to either build for me or buy a box? For the record, I&#39;m in the southeast United States (GA)...</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all. I have an Nvidia 1080ti and can&#39;t seem to get it working with Daz. I unselected the CPU from the advanced rendering settings and when I select Iray (or try to render), it just stays blank and is stuck in a preparing scene loop. I have updated the GPU to the latest Nvidia Studio drivers. For about 1 hour, it worked. Then, when I loaded up Daz today, it&#39;s back to the same old problem. I&#39;ve also downloaded the latest Public Beta version of Daz Studio to see if that&#39;ll fix it to no avail.</p>

<p>This happens regardless of what&#39;s in the scene or what model I use.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;m not using any other 3rd party plug-ins other than the LAHM Catalyzer from the store. Even when I disable that, the issue remains. This is driving me crazy as I can&#39;t seem to find any help on the forums or via a google search, so any help to fix this would make my life many times better! Thanks.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I want to transfor an object and set the current trasformations as the new 0</p>

<p>Meaning if I move and object in the axis Y 20 units, I want that new positon to be the new 0</p>

<p>The only way I can do it is exporting and importing as OBJ, but there is a way of doing it without it?</p>

<p>I dont use &quot;memorize&quot; transformations as it yert remember the older 0 and will give the wrong results when trying to use tools as trasnfer utiliy as the trasnformations will be ignored.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a bit of V3 clothing&nbsp;that&#39;s not designed for the body morph I&#39;m using, so &#39;Autofit&#39; doesn&#39;t work - V3 is too early to benefit from Autofit. So, to get the clothing to fit I have reduced the clothing scale to 90% so it&#39;s entirely within the figure, and applied a smoothing modifier to the clothing. This moves the clothing (in 34 steps or so) so that it&#39;s outside the figure. This takes a fair time. That&#39;s fine if it happens once, but it&nbsp;happens every time I pose any body part, which is frustrating. I don&#39;t wish to pose apparently&nbsp;naked figures, so turning the auto-update off isn&#39;t an option.</p>

<p>Is there any way of freezing the smothing modifier altered shape into a morph?</p>

<p>I have tried making the character invisible, saving the clothing as an obj file &amp; then loading it in using Morph Loader. This almost worked. Except... when I hid the character from view, the clothing shrank back to the 90% size, and all the resulting morph did was to shrink the clothing by 10%. Not quite what was planned.</p>

<p>I&#39;m sure there is a simple solution, but it isn&#39;t covered by any documentation I have downloaded onto the machine. <em>How I wish there was an adequate help file</em>, it would save me hours.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I had forgotten that I had<span> [dForce Classic Long Wavy Hair]</span> for months because it never showed up in the Smart Content tab. I tried reimporting meta data and that didn&#39;t help so today I uninstalled in via IM, then tried to reinstall it. When I do that, it downloads the file, goes to install and says the install failed.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve tried downloading and reinstalling about 40 times and it&#39;s still failing. Trying to install the hair directly inside Studio just shows a broken shortcut that doesn&#39;t allow me to do anything.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>iRay rendering on my GTX 1080 worked well for a long time, but recently it no longer works-- seems to be around the time of the 4.12 update (I&#39;m running 4.12.1.118 on Windows). It fails on all scenes -- something small with a simple primitive like a few cubes, or a zillion polys, doesn&#39;t matter, just get a blank scene. No &quot;compiling shaders&quot; message, nothing . . . blank scene pops up instantly, eg render never seems to begin<br />
<br />
When I render the scene with the CPU, it renders correctly, if slowly-- so its not that the scenes aren&#39;t set up correctly.</p>

<p>Tried the obvious things, reinstalling Daz. Checked out that other applications can see the GPU OK, and Daz itself reports the card, so it can &quot;see&quot; the GPU . . . but for some reason now it won&#39;t render with it.</p>

<p>The log shows a failure:</p>

<p>Urban Kitchen + Space Corridor have both a &quot;door&quot; file... it seems like, the Contentcreator self doesnt use his own items? so.... he would see the problem, I think when I just rename it, it will make problems with preloaded sets, because the files are looking for a &quot;door.png&quot; or duf.</p>

<p>Also funny, that my windows says its the same size... because it isnt...</p>

<p>I am happy I did really random checked the double files.... normally I just say overwrite -_-<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to use the RSSY Clothing Converter Genesis to G8, but when I go to load clothing into it, it keeps telling me that the files don&#39;t exist after I select them.</p>

<p>I wasn&#39;t sure if something might be wrong with these particular files, so I tried a different clothing pack from a different creator, and this time it loads into the window, but if I click &quot;Convert Items&quot; it tells me they&#39;re not selected, despite all being checked, or if I hit &quot;Execute&quot;, it proudly tells me it converted zero items. I think I&#39;ve followed the instructions, and I&#39;m not sure what&#39;s going wrong.</p>

<p>Here&#39;s my log, and I&#39;ve attached images of what I&#39;m seeing.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am trying to re-install clothes converter, but it won&#39;t accept the license key. I made sure I am cutting and pasting the whole thing. No joy.</p>

<p>It is a pecular key because it begins with &quot;userkeyname####&quot; where #### is a number, then a space then the normal sequence of characters you find in a license key.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve tried it with and without this prefix and substituted my name for userkeyname. Nothing works.</p>

<p>Anyone know what the trick is.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to iluminate an object in a scene without casting a shadow? With the direct lights it looks impossible? In other 3D software for example, in 3DS Max if you want to iluminate an object but do not want to cast a shadow, you can just turn of cast shadow and that helps a lot when you want to create an overall effect of global ilumination from one light source.</p>

<p>Any help would be great to understand if you can do this in Daz3D.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>trying&nbsp;to use this plugin, unsuccessfully.&nbsp; &nbsp;I export the FBX file through the script in Daz.&nbsp; Trying to open it manually&nbsp;or through the script in Maya yeilds a situation where some enormous&nbsp;amount of data gets written to my C&nbsp;drive, 20+ gigs, then maya crashes before opening the character.&nbsp; I guess it doesn&#39;t work?</p>

<p>Using latest version of Daz, windows 10, with Maya 2020.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I know there has to be something out there, but I don&#39;t know where.&nbsp; Is there a utility for converting G3 females to G8 females?&nbsp;&nbsp; I&#39;ve got a G3 character that I&#39;d like to move to G8, particularly the face, but haven&#39;t had much luck.&nbsp; I&#39;ve even gone as far as using Facegen, it works, but the result doesn&#39;t look the same.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m having some trouble getting this converter to work properly. I&#39;ve got the directory loaded up, hair selected, but each time I run the script it throws me a message stating it executed successfully on 0 items. My goal is to convert the dForce EXcela hair from G8 to G3</p>

<p>In the script log it says the preset loaded multiple items and it aborts the conversion. Is there anyone who might know how to troubleshoot this? I&#39;ve included screencaps of the script and log.</p>

<p>I happened on some materials yesteray but, I can&#39;t find the figure they belong to. I&#39;ve Googled and searched in the store. They don&#39;t look like standard materials for sure. There was three. &#39;Hero&#39;, &#39;Max&#39; and &#39;Brad&#39;, all with similar face material issues. I can only think it was a freebie I downloaded from somewhere but searching is coming up with nothing that fits.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m taking a chance asking this question here as it&#39;s not a Daz issue. I&#39;ve recently bought a new PC and monitor, but haven&#39;t yet gotten around to setting up DS on it, in part because I have a monitor problem which may turn out ot be a graphics card issue. I&#39;ve scoured a gazillion forums online for the fix of a filmy monitor - variously referred to on forums as hazy or blurry screen, but it looks as if there&#39;s a protective film over the screen. I&#39;ve tried all of the fixes suggested that I&#39;ve found, but nothing works, then yesterday I found a years&nbsp;old post which was the only one to relate the problem to the graphics card. I alas didn&#39;t make a note of the site and now can&#39;t re-find it, but the guy said it&#39;s long been a problem with Nvidia cards which have a part-line of code missing. He gave the fix for it, but it was extrmely long and complex and as it was the early hours of the morning I wasn&#39;t going to start trying to fathom it. So I&#39;m asking here if anyone has had a filmy/hazy/blurry monitor problem which was down to the graphics card and not a cable issue or monitor problem per se.</p>

<p>Totally clueless on this area, even though I have been &#39;playing&#39; with Daz for a while.</p>

<p>1. What I understand so far, standard Daz product has some 2d &#39;gridlike&#39; template, I think its called UV file? When a texture file &#39;overlap&#39; on the grid, it will then transpose correctly on the dress/object. I did some Photoshop&nbsp;modification (put logo on shirt, etc) on these before, so I understood the outcome, but not how the UV file came to be created.</p>

<p>2. I assume I will need some sorta UV file output from the MD9. Havent figure out this part yet.</p>

<p>3. When I export the MD9 dress, its exported in the way on how I sew the pieces, if I create 50 pieces, I get 50 surfaces.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; In certain situation, this is good as a shortcut to apply shader direct, but in more complex cloth, like the actual dress in the photo below, I can&#39;t cheat so much and need to shop some details in.</p>

<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; I think there is a way to group pieces together, I accidentally stumbled on it once.</p>

<p>4. Any help to plan&nbsp;some workflow is highly appreciated....</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>For some reason Daz has started to&nbsp;crash my PC, which is a pain.&nbsp;Can&#39;t really work on anything right now. Doesn&#39;t happen when I am not using Daz.</p>

<p>Was fine, but I can&#39;t even work on the simplest stuff anymore. It doesn&#39;t even occur predictably.</p>

<p>I cleared the log file, in order to provoke another crash and see what the log spat out, but I noticed it is writing this every couple of minutes, without even having a scene loaded.</p>

<p>..which seems odd. Anybody dealt with this before?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have been using Daz 4.10 and now find I have to have 4.11 or 4.12 in order to use dforce hair, such as what is found on that cute new kitten that I recently purchased Moshi.</p>

<p>My biggest question is what will happen to my current Daz and all the content I have installed if I install 4.11 or 4.12</p>

<p>My next biggest question is do I have to have Daz Central to download and install Daz...I am not a fan of that kind of install, I prefer manual. Also, I have been reading the forums and Daz Central has too many problems for me to risk using it. What other options are there?</p>
