My favorite bundle deal so far of the RDNA blowout sale has to be the Oceanqueen Mega Bundle. This beautiful Arki set includes a dragon, dragon harness and saddle, and two detailed dragonrider outfits for M4 and V4. There are two texture sets for the dragons, saddles, harnesses and the outfits. There are also riding poses for M4 and V4! It's an absolute steal at $7, let alone $3.50 or less. I'm not sure the promos really do it justice. Will render some at home as soon as I am able to (probably over the weekend.)
Here's one of the promo pics:
That is also one of my favorite RDNA bundles. I got. it when it first came to DAZ at a $4 promo
During the PC sale, I got several AKSF Bundles (Quabbalah, Malaik, Lilithai) and a lot of plants, and yesterday I got Terradome 2 for free. Man, those RDNA people were out of this world. Thanks Daz, for making all this available for practically nothing!
TerraDome2 also wound up in my cart... along with the second morph expansion. THANKS all for offering these great goodies.
And the fun continues! More goodies with the HOLLIDAZ-LING code!
I also found this webinar over at DigitalArtLive, where Arki goes through the art of texturing with the Ocean Queen dragon: https://digitalartlive.com/product/outstanding-results-by-traditional-hand-painted-texturing/
Looks like fun, though it's probably Poser-only. I want to play with texturing it for Iray in DAZ at some point. It really is an amazing 3D model with many morphs and adjustments. Looks like it's got a lot of material zones too.
I've been having trouble finding stuff to get, frankly; a lot of the V4 stuff is a real gamble whether it will work properly. It's clear they aren't testing any of the products, so I've already hit one item that, despite the compatibility they slapped on it, doesn't work in DS.
A lot of the other stuff, it can be a pain to get to work.
Mind you, if you use Poser, it's a bonanza, I think.
I use both programs, so it's definitely a bonanza! I want to do renders of the items in both and post here, just need some time to actually do it. Free time is at a minimum at the moment, but I plan to keep posting as I can to this thread. I have plenty of RDNA stuff now to try out, and want to see what can be done with it, especially in DAZ. I also picked up some fantastic lighting sets for Poser and want to play with those too.
It really is. Now I don't want to start a controversy. I know some people here are fundamentally anti-Poser. But I've been using both DS and Poser for years. And I agree that, with the introduction of lray, the future probably belongs to DS. But all the RDNA stuff that is presently given away was made with Poser in mind and for Poser. And so does all that older DAZ stuff you can get for almost nothing. So, is Poser 11 a good deal for, what, 50$? I think it is. And since I don't have a very powerful computer, I can pack a scene with Poser-firefly much more than with DS-lray. Sorry, 3delight never really worked for me. It's really fun to pick and choose wihtout worrying how it's gonna work. Peace.
Just be wary of anything that's MT5 -- chances are that those materials can't be converted properly, even manually, to DAZ.
Having said that, most of my RDNA purchases have been absolutely amazing so far. Almost everything works, even "dynamic" pp2 items with some tweaking/rescaling.
There is a free program to convert MT5 and MC6 files to PZ2. It may not work on eveerything but it works on a lot.:
Thread about it: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/78986/mc6-to-pz2-batch-converter
ShareCG link: http://www.sharecg.com/v/84580/browse/10/Software-and-Tools/MC6-to-PZ2-Batch-Converter
Yeah, I used that one for the IDL products with no success. All it does is change the header to the appropriate MC6/PZ2 compatible header, but it does nothing for the channels that are a part of the material itself...
For example, I had issues with the material declaring its own image-map channel instead of it declaring as a part of diffuse up earlier.
It would actually be fairly simple to whip up a script to reflect that change, but I'm waaaaaaaay too busy with work to actually do it, unfortunately.
I picked up the Art of Ballet products by Lady Little Fox in the blowout sale. These are very beautiful and have delicate colors and fabrics. I managed to autofit most of the sets with no problem to a G3F with one big caveat: the tutus don't autofit well at all. They do funky things and their handles won't turn off. The leotards, leg warmers, shoes, and sweater look fine. Here are some pictures with original textures and then playing some with Iray shaders. The clothing set is elegant and easily shaded however you like. I used Fabiana's The Shader Plan: Light Knits and Mec4D's PBS Vol 2 shaders on the shoes (satin) and leotard (procedural to get the sparkly look.) Lighting is Dimension Theory's Iradiance Light Probes, which I adore.
I'll try these next on a V4 to see if I can get the handles off. I also had a little bit of poke through on the toes and turned them off. If you look closely, you can see where they're slightly missing. Easily fixed in postwork either way- toes on or off. I would love to know what V4 pose set was used for the original promos. Was hoping it was included in the bundles, but alas, it is not. The poses are very graceful. I used a G3F set below.
Pic 1: Original textures, in Iray. The sweater holds up exceptionally well. I darked the diffuse color on the leg warmers to match it better:

I just bought a bunch of things from their old site that I've had on my wishlist for a long while. They stop selling on the 15th and close on the 31st of December 2016.
I've been paring down my wishlist over there as stuff has moved over. I've picked up so much of what I was looking at since I found RDNA last year, but will definitely take a look this weekend. Sounds like it's the last chance. I've had my eye on that Kali bundle for a while!
I've got 3 more products to buy there...all I've bought is by Tate
Its really sad to see them go. I wish all the products could have come over to DAZ.
I'm working on cutting down my wislist over there Most of the stuff on it is older products by Transpond or Traveler & Judith. Still, it broke my heart to have to cut the Old West Construction set and add-ons and I may have to cut even deeper. But I just can't afford all of it at the moment..
I'm sad to see their site and community go but very happy to have them here. Hoping to review lots of their older stuff on this thread because there are so many wonderful products that did come over. Don't want them getting lost in the store!
Sharing Dracorn's post from another thread. I hadn't gotten this notice in my email. Having trouble logging onto the RDNA site at the moment. Hoping to get in tomorrow.
I'm fairly new to 3D art so I didn't know about RuntimeDNA until a few months ago. I've been trying to register there on and off for months. But I always get redirected to the Daz website when I've tried. I must have tried at least two dozen times over the past few months.
It really sucks too because there are a lot of freebies there that I'd like to get before they are gone forever.
Some of the freebies came over from the RDNA site because they showed up in my DAZ DIM.
Same here. Not all of them, though. Seems the Victoria 1/2 stuff are being left behind. Better to have them stored and saved somewhere.
Here's something I played with today. This is the Art of Ballet on a V4 (Nymwei by Mortem Vetus) in Poser and DAZ, as well as Nightsong's Feathered Masque from RDNA that is not moving over to DAZ. It's a shame because that PA has some gorgeous stuff.
Strangely, the sweater looks better in DAZ than it does in either Firefly or Superfly. It looks dirty in Firefly, though I'm not sure why. I checked and rechecked things, and it just doesn't look right. I tried it in cream and white, both look dingy. The skirt works fine on V4. The handles hide the way they are supposed to. Something about the autofit clone conflicts with those handles. I could not turn them off in the G3F pics. The shoes are supposed to be a white satin, but didn't come through right. Easily fixed.
While the masque is fuller in Poser, it doesn't look too bad in Iray. The first pic had no Iray shaders. On the second, I used Anagenesis 2 shaders on everything, and thought it turned out well. I haven't done any other Iray shading to it yet.(click for full size pics below.)
In DAZ (Iray) :
In Poser (Firefly and Superfly:)
Yes, I'm waiting to the 13th & I will buy the last 3 items I want & then doublecheck that I have downloaded everything. I'm pretty sure I have. 31st is the last day to download.
Handles probably had their own bones. SY has a tutorial on how to keep custom bones on conversion at DA:
http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Tutorial-Saving-Gen-4-Custom-Bones-on-Conversion-417250347
But I'd probably simply try parenting the tutu to G3F's waist and posing them manually rather than usig autofit.
Thanks, Leana. I'll play with it.
Tomorrow is the last day! How sad. I finally got off the fence and bought the things I was holding out on. Mainly the Kali bundle, a few add ons for the Feathered Masque, and some beautiful pose sets, which I believe were used in the Art of Ballet promos. Will render them soon.
FYI- Last day for RDNA's store on their old site. If you've got a few things left on your wishlist that didn't migrate over, might want to grab them today!
Yeh, I picked up some of the items on my wishlist; but due to budgetary constraints I had to eliminate a lot of the items I wanted, such as Old West Construction set and add ons, Baker Street and addons, and Village church bundle. They are old but timeless . I wish they would have migrated to DAZ either at deep discount introductory price on RDNA items or at least for purchase later.
I had to do the same, Charlie. Couldn't afford everything I wanted. It was hard to pick and choose, so many good items! I bought the ones I thought I could use most and things I didn't already have similar items of. I picked up A_'s pose sets that go with the Art of Ballet items, as well a couple of others. That PA has some really fantastic ones, things I haven't seen elsewhere. Nightsong's items are really beautiful too. Also got the Terradome 2 items that did not migrate over (Elevation and Eco.) I wasn't sure they'd be available anywhere after the store closed.
One last dance! Grabbed the White Wolf stuff (M4 character and his Leathers bundle) plus the Megawings poses. I think I'm really done now. LOL
LMAO- Did a google search for RDNA morphing gown textures and the pictures to this thread came up! Guess I should actually add some of the gown to make it relevant. Not finding a lot of add on textures for the dress, though it converts beautifully to Iray, has a ton of morphs and could easily be customized with shaders. This is Azrae for V3 wearing the gown. I threw an Uber shader over it and textures the trim belt with Fabiana's Shader Plan for Satins. The metal was textured with Mec4D's PBS Shaders Vol 1. The lace is original to the dress and renders beautifully.
