OOT Ronya Hair Posing

marblemarble Posts: 7,500

OutOfTouch is one of my go-to artists, recently. I now have several clothing and hair items and I'm usually very happy with them but the Ronya hair is driving me nuts.

As with all OOT products, there are many posing options but in this case there are some serious omissions: backwards movement. There are only left and right movement and adjustment morphs and nothing to take the hair backwards away from the face . This is essential for laying down poses, of course.

Moreover, the gravity and movement morphs change the length of the hair. So If I have chosen one of the shorter style presets and apply a movement morph - hey-presto, the hair grows inches instantly.

OOT - if you read these forums, please comment. I still have a while before I need to decide whether to return the product or not.

I'd send a PM but I can't figure out how to find a forum member in this forum software.

Well I gotta say, I did run into the 'movement morphs change the length of the hair' as well. Thought I was just doing something wrong. It is somewhat annoying and renders the shorter hair styles somewhat pointless imho. Which is sad, cause those look really nice

Thanks for confirming that. Can you also confirm the lack of backwards movement, or am I missing something?

In situations like this, is it possible to add your own bones or deformers?

I'm asking as I do not know.

  • Hair in general is just driving me nuts. There is so much adjustment that needs to be done with it and then getting any sort of dynamic movement out of it can be an exercise in futility. I almost always prefer to use short hair now just so that I can skip the frustration of posing it.

I have added my own morphs in the past but I am not a pro like the artists so they are very basic. Besides, I just should not have to.

Does anyone know how to find a PM address for a vendor? Obviously, in this case, outoftouch.

The is no option for backwards movement that I have found, no. You can get a bit (a small bit) by entering negative values for some settings, but that's probably going to deform the hair quite significantly.

Ahh - that's the way to do it! Thanks :)

  • Hey,

thanks for making me aware of this thread.

I'm sorry that you noticed problems with Ronya Hair in your workflow. All included wind and styling effects are presets to help you having instant effects and due to technical reasons, some work better together and some not. Length options change the position of the hairstrands, in fact they would position and scale the lower part of the strands in an upward or downward position. That is what you will notice once you change a style from long to short and having a wind preset active. You will notice the lower parts of the strands moving upwards and downwards, which makes it look like there is no difference in length. It depends on the combination of morphs. Using "wilder" Blow Buttons will not make a big different in lengths. I would suggest if you want a short style and add movement to it to create your own wind styles with the included seperate morph dials and using lower values.

For example STYLE Button 11 (shortest one) and Wind-FrontLToL-2 at 60 % for a nice wind movement and, still, short hair.

The included BLOW Buttons are presets that combine different morphs in the hair, which all can be accessed seperately and manually. By using lower values you will also maintain shorter hair :)

    I hope this helps :)

Thanks for coming in to comment. :)

My main problem is moving the hair backwards. I am using style 11 in my image series so I can't change it mid series (unless I start over from scratch). I've tried lots of combinations of blow and other movement parameters but the hair hangs stubbornly in line with the nose tip or even further forward. The blow options seem to move the hair outwards or wide of the face but have no option to stay closer to the head and just fall behind the ears - as natural hair of that length would if the woman was lying down.

I do also have the other issue with hair length and have only managed to fool the eye by a combination of blow styles and camera angles. But I would appreciate a comment on the lack of backwards movement as well.

Like the author of the thread, I was surprised when I didn't see any dial for backward movement in the long list, I was mostly counting on them to help with some characters that makes hairs deform around the eyes. I think I'll use it with bangs 1-2 hidden (in surface tab, with cutout opacity), the hairline doesn't look the same but it's still better than with them visible, to me.

And on a side note, thanks a lot for G2F support yes  Out of Touch, will keep buying them as long as G2 is supported :)

I bought it in hopes of getting something to replace the old Kurt hair used by one of my characters. Needed the character to face into the wind with the hair blowing back. No could do.

It's still a nice hair. I'm not returning it. But it doesn't do what I bought it for. In all honesty, I did look through the promos, and didn't see anything there which would indicate that it *would* do so. But why would someone with a hair model with bolwing in the wind morphs *not* have the hair blowing backwards?

    Hey guys,

thanks for your additional feedback. I have worked on a couple of bonus morphs for you and hope they will help you out. Please download this file and install into your Content library.

    http://www.outoftouch.de/trading/OOT_RonyaHair_BackMovement_BONUS.zip

This will add 8 additional morphs to pull the hair back. It also comes with new "RESET" presets to add the new morphs, please overwrite the old ones. These morphs will also be added the product in the store, however it will take some time. So in the meantime you can play with the manual installation of the morphs.

    Thanks,

    OOT

Now that's good service. Many thanks - I'm downloading now.

Edit: when you say "overwrite the old ones", surely you don't mean replace the old morphs with the new ones? There are far fewer new morphs than already existing ones in the data folders. Also, the existing ones are in a folder named "Base" but the new morphs are not. I have to bear in mind that Mac does not merge folders in the way that Windows does so I have to be careful.

Would it be Ok to just add the new ones to the Base folder?

EDIT 2: That's what I did and the new morphs work fine. Thank you again :)

Oh sorry - I should learn to read. You meant overwrite the Reset All presets, not the morphs. Doh!

  • The replace only counts for the RESET poses.

I'm glad this helped you out :)

Well that's truly awesome, thanks a lot! laugh

Also, als Navi said, thanks for the G2F support, it's nice to see there's still some content for the old girl ^^

Oh, that's lovely. Thank you so much. It really is a fine hair, and all the other morphs are appreciated. But when you bought something for a specific use and it isn't there, it's disappointing.

Wow thanks so much for this, what great customer service!  Really appreciate the extra effort and the support for G2 as well.

I've stopped buying hair; Daz needs to upgrade it.

I'll buy again when it has been.
