Hey guys!! I have problem with my actors and products but they are seems like robbots..

Do you mean that they appear as grey blocks in the Viewport?   Does this happen all the time, or just when you move them?

Next to where it says 'Default Camera' at the top of the Viewport, there is a drop down menu, make sure that it is set to Texture Shaded and NOT Solid Bounding Box.

    Does that fix it?

Also, is the product you are using an actual character or a texture set?  Can you list which product(s)?

In addition, please remember to keep questions in a single thread if they are the same questions.

What figures are you trying to use?  What version of Studio are you using?  What products?

  • DAZ 3D studio 4.8 and I download all products which have in manager..

  • Do you get an error message when loading the content?

  • yes!!!!

Ah I find it but it not fix it...

In that case, it may be that you have changed some of the other settings.   If this only happens when you move the figure, then you need to go to, Windwo > Panes (Tabs) > Draw Settings, and change the Manipulation Draw Style to 'Use Current (Off)'

If that is not the problem, can you please post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

They look like this...all the time, not only when they move...

If that is the case, then there is something wrong with the way you have your content set up.

What figure is this happening with (Genesis, Genesis2, Genesis3)?

How did you install your content?  (DIM - DAZ Install Manager)

Did you go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directoy Manager and make sure that the correct paths to your content are listed as both DAZ Studio AND Poser Formats, DIM does not do that for you?

  • I don't know what happen...I can make only robbots and not normal dolls...

If installing the "Starter Essentials" doesn't solve the problem, the next thing to check would be making sure that Daz Studio is looking for the files in the same location that Daz Install Manager is installing them.  In DS, go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library, click on "Content Directory Manager", expand the "Daz Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats", and post a screenshot.

    Hi people....

I'm Joe and new in the  3D world.

Somehow I've gotten DAZ Studio 4.8 Pro stuffed into my old computer.

I seem to be having am issue similar to  Vasoulakir  (ie: a stack of gray boxes instead of 3D magic )

These clothing items were downloaded from the free stuff place at renderosity. ( I confess I'm cheap )

    an example is:

Sleeveless Dress for Genesis 2 Females

    Software:   Daz Studio 4

    Base Figures:  Genesis 2 Female

It's a zip file that I download, move to " My Library " , and extract the files into " My Library "

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

so I open file - DSON User File named  Sleeveless_Dress from  the content library and get a pile of grey boxes....

pop up says  there is a file missing----  /data/Beat578/Sleeveles_Dress/Sleeveless_Dress/Kleid_Schulterlos_11499.dsf

    I seach for the file and find  " Kleid_Schulterlos_11499 " , a DSON Support File at ---

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Beat578_sleeveless-dress-for-genesis-2-females_75717\Data\Beat578\Sleeveles_Dress\Sleeveless_Dress

Here is a screenshot of the content directory manager

it appears the break in continuity is " Beat578_sleeveless-dress-for-genesis-2-females_75717 "

so I move it around within " My Library " but success eludes me.

Is it that DAZ 4 isn't working with Daz4.8 ?

Is it that I've inserted the extracted files into the incorrect location ?

    or that I have'nt a clue.......

If more situational info is needed let me know......

You all have a good new year and thanks for any advice you can offer

    The screen shot didnt post......

So, the content directort manager shows that both the  DAZ  Studio and Poser formats are  found in the same places :

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

    Sorry it went  sideways

  • Could it be simply the wrong drawstyle (viewing) option selected?

    Hi......

I'm thinking thaat I've extracted the into the wrong location..

When I extract, I've left Data,People, and Runtime file within a vendor file .

Should I seperate the Data, People, and Runtime Files into the Daz data, people, and runtime files?

Here is how the files are arranged now.

A lot of your content is in 'vanity folders' (folders that are the vendor's name and or product).  You need to remove the files and folders in these and place them directly inside your My Library or My DAZ 3D Library folders.

it realy looks like that you have parts of the needed data in the wrong folder.

Did you install your content with DAZ Install Manager?

If you install it with DAZ Install Manager everything should be in the right place.

    Maybe this will be helpfull:

Yes, that's exactly what the problem is — you unzipped the archive file into the correct location, but there's an extra folder level with the name of the zip file. You should unzip the contents of the archive file into exactly the same location. The data folder in the zip should be merged with the data folder in your existing content, etc. DAZ|Studio is looking for these folders directly inside your content library folder, it can't see inside this extra folder level, it can't know that the entire correct folder structure is in there.
