DAZ Horse 2 Textures

I have a plethora of textures for the Mil Horse.

I would like to use these textures on the DAZ Horse 2.

Has anyone done this?

The shop has no extra textures and it would seem those that provided some really stunning textures for the MIL Horse 1 now only make them for the Hive Wire Horse.

If anyone knows of extra textures for the DAZ Horse 2, would they please share their knowledge?

Thanks!

Go here and get the file "Horse 2 Mil Horse UV and Clone.zip"

    https://sites.google.com/site/crblackthorne/downloads

This will allow you to use the old Millenium horse skins on DAZ Horse 2 (though I confess I have never tried this). You also get a clone so you can use millenium horse conforming items (I assume saddles etc) with horse 2.

Edit: There is some discussion of it in this old thread

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/12456/

the link in the thread does not work, so use the one I gave above

Yes, I picked up the zip.

The readme was a little daunting as it requires something called RTE encoding.

I have no idea what that is.

Still no fear. I just want to make sure I don't mess up my horse!!

It should not overwrite any existing files, you will get a new UV and a new clone and that is all. rte unencoding is not tricky as long as you know where to find the key file.

There are some things I don't get yet. It wants to know which file I'll be decoding. I'm thinking due to the readme it will be the OBJ for Mil horse 1.

It wants me to have certain textures. I want to use textures made by an outside source. The folks at CWRW made incredible textures for the MIL Horse 1.

It will want me to name a key file. I'm not sure which one that is.

    Here is the readme.

DAZ Horse 2 backwards compabillity with Millenium Horse by CauriB

To use the Millenium Horse UV map and fit your Millenium Horse armors etc. via auto fit to Horse 2 you will need the original Millenium Horse (http://www.daz3d.com/shop/millennium-horse/) and rtencoder (www.rtencoder.com). The included zip is encoded against the blMilHorse.obj

To use the included materials in the "Materials/Millenium Horse" folder you need to own the texture sets:
    http://www.daz3d.com/shop/lnl-ultimate-horses-1
    http://www.daz3d.com/shop/lnl-ultimate-horses-2
    http://www.daz3d.com/shop/lb-fantasy-unicorns
    http://www.daz3d.com/shop/millennium-horse-unicorn
    http://www.daz3d.com/shop/millennium-horse-bundle

The textures will apply automatically with the correct uv settings. As I used the displacement map that is included in the lnl-ultimate-horse texture set to create the new material settings it is highly recommended that you own that set, if not, just ignore the request for the texture, the materials should work anyway. Please note that only the body textures will work, I didn´t remap the mane.

If you own other texture sets you will need to apply them manually, and change the UV set to Millenium Horse.
To fit clothes to the horse, load the item you want to fit, choose fit to and the auto fit dialog will pop up, choose Millenium Horse from the drop down menu and the item will auto-conform.

This set comes without warranty, if it destroys your computer, kills your cat etc. don´t blame me. If you have any questions IM me at DAZ ( CauriB ), or email me: [email protected].

This set is not for sale or redistribution. For usage restrictions see the DAZ EULA.

I could buy those texture sets and I will if I have to do get more textures for the DAZ Horse 2 but why should if I don't have to?

Start up RTEncoder and choose File > Decode. First it will ask for the file to decode -- this is the "Horse 2 Mil Horse UV and Clone.rte" you downloaded. Next it will ask for the output file -- just use the same filename but with the extension .zip instead of .rte. Then it will ask for the key file -- this is the .obj file from the Millennium Horse, which will be in ...My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Geometries\DAZAnimals (if your content folder is the default My DAZ 3D Library) and is named "blMilHorse.obj".

After you decode, you'll have a zip file with an Animals folder and a Data folder -- just merge them with the corresponding folders in "My DAZ 3D Library". The Animals folder has all the materials presets for the 5 products mentioned in the readme -- you don't have to use those products, you can use different ones, those just have the presets all set up for you if you happen to have those products. The Data folder has the UV set and clone so that you can apply Mil Horse textures and autofit Mil Horse tack/armor/etc.

    I'm heartbroken.

Every time I tried to run RTEncoder, I got this message and then it disappeared. The RTEncoder exe file disappeared.

    I am the administrator.

    What AV are you running?

It looks like your security software is considering RTEncoder a 'hack tool'...

Yup! According a website that ranks files, Malwarebytes and Norton both consider this to be a risk. Of course my protection is Norton and Malwarebytes. That would be 2 out of 45. Kapersky says it's fine. AVG says it's fine. Everyone else think it's fine. I think I have to lower my protection level and then try it.

Hopefully I don't have to be online to use the rtencoder.

It's an intentional 'scare positive' on the part of the AV company. Symantec, many years ago, decided that tools that can make fundamental changes to files or the system, in general, are 'bad'/dangerous (usually ones that aren't part of one of their system tools packages)...and started the whole business of marking (and removing) useful (sometimes needed) tools that don't 'pay up' to be automatically 'whitelisted' as 'dangerous'.

From the site above, RTEncoder is safe...and yes, whitelist or whatever you need to do to get it to run...then complain profusely to MalwareBytes. Complaining to Symantec won't do much of anything...I'm convinced that such emails sent to them are automatically routed to dev/null (trashcan).

Everything went as you said it would. I got the Data and the UV! I have to learn how to apply the UV and to use the clone as I do have a lot of armor as well as a saddle. I'll try and figure it out.

In the meantime, I've learned how to use the RTEncoder without fear, that my symantic (norton) anti-virus betrayed me, and that I do like the DAZ Horse 2. Time to do some more searching of the forum.

Thank you all for your help and patience. It is greatly appreciated.

  • I managed to figure out how to decode the rte file and when I tried the mil horse skin on horse 2 it worked fantastic.

now I still have a problem figuring something out. I have the native horse costume for mil horse. fitting, saddle, collar and headstall works,,, but the reins give me problems. how do I parent or fit the reins and where to?  when I remember correct cauri b said she only fif the body and not the head.

please can somebody help me out in this matter? I am a newbie with daz still learning how to work with this but it is exiting when you finish a task successfully

    thanks in advance

I have to say the reins give everyone problems ......lemme go dig up this and see what works easiest ...Okay so easiest is parent the reins to the headstall ,I had issues with the morphs cause of the parameter settings were made more for Poser then for DS ,I may play with that more .... but by parenting the reins to the head stall the reins keep their morphs .

I just put spinebender armor on a daz horse 2; my advice is that with saddle and reins, avoid auto fit and do the more careful place and adjust scale. Then add collision to help fine adjustment.

The problem is that auto fitting to a different figure causes the bone set up (i.e.: how different parts move) to get adjusted to the new figure. Anything custom or fiddly is going to get ruined
