Looking to add some furs to my runtime: Does anyone know if/where I can procure a flat animal pelt (ideally, wolf)?

Like a bear rug? With its head attached to a fur rug? Or a fur shader?

Yes, like a rug. Either with or without the head.

    LAMH will transform any cloak.

Searching "Pelts of Skyrim" (a mod for the video game) will give you a basic idea of what i'm looking for.
It doesn't actually need to be furry. Just in the shape of an animal skin and without an "exotic" pattern (so, basically no spots or stripes).

Thanks, chohole. Installed it, but sod's law it appears to be broken. Loads, although nothing shows up in the viewport...

Which one? The optitex one? My version of the 3DSC one works although I admit it is a fairly basic shape.

BTW there are also skin props in the Cheyenne Village http://www.daz3d.com/native-cheyenne-village, but they are either stretched on a frame or hanging over a rack, but maybe able to be used.

Sorry, did you edit your post? The 3DSC one isn't working for me, perhaps I require more than the one zip? Not the end of the world though; I opened the obj, and as you said, it's on the rather basic side...

Think the best way forward is going to be to make my own. Maybe applying the texture from something furry like the Daz Wolf onto a plane primitive and using an alpha map.

I made a sheepskin rug in Bryce by using an image in grey scale as a height map on a terrain, and then the actual image as a texture.

ooh I hate it when links don't work right. found the original image

Ooh, I missed the Egypt stuff. Might work with a little re-texturing...
Good to have more options. Thanks, Jabba101!

    Hi,
I made some time ago two free packs of "Animal furs",for both commercial and private use.
You can find them in Rendo free stuff: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?artist
Good for wolfs, bunnies, deer and may be for your rugs?
    (They're in JPG's format.)
    Greetings - Teresa Tyllo :)

    and thumbnails look like that:

Teresa Tyllo, thanks for the fur. I'm about to head over there and check that out. (My free stuff !? :coolhmm: It's a log-in thing with that site, you need to fight to get to it)

that link may not work, or it possibly will in theory. you'll still need to log in there.

Off topic Q. Silkessence? Dose that have basic bumps and spec, that I can put my own color patrons (diffuse) on, or are they all preset patrons (colors and all)?

    Hi zarcondeegrissom,
The best way is to look at "What's Included & Features" on Silkessence page.

Among others included things there you'll find this:
    "...Textures:
277 Satin Texture, Reflection, Specular, Displacement and Bump Maps (400 x 400 up to 800 x 800 .JPG & .PNG)
DAZ Studio 3+ Material Presets (.DSA)
Material Poses to Apply All Shader Presets..."

I hope it'll answer your question about basic bumps,spec...etc.
Wishing you good luck with puting your own colors. :)
    -Teresa Tyllo

    PS Apropo's my free stuff it's http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?artist
And YES -you have to be login. (Not my rules, sorry.)

Teresa, the link to your page is:

    http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.php?userid=85208

... and the link to your animal furs is:

    http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?item_id=49922

(the link you're posting takes us to "our" freestuff, so you'd be seeing yours, but we (the general public) do not see it because it has no userid or item_id to point to ^_^).

    HTH (^_^)n

Decided to have a go at making a pelt from scratch. This one's really just a quick test I threw together, but I think it shows potential.

Would look good with LAMH; which I don't currently own, as my experience (with the player at least) is that it tends to clash with the Octane plugin. Hopefully the update to Octane 2.0 that's expected at the end of the month will be a fix. Failing that, looks like Garibaldi may be the way to go.

That is really good looking like that. Complete envy at the work there. Was that poly-shape made in Blender, zbrush, hex, other? Or is it just a primitive plane with an opacity map?

I have yet to mess with the ArchaeopteryxDR feathers in LAMF, so I have no clue about that (3Delight or other), I don't even have "Look at my feathers" yet, lol. Someday Microraptor will fly, just not this month.

I have Octane and LAMH I just do not use both at once
Geometry fur created from LAMH works fine in Octane

I traced out a rough shape and added thickness in Modo, then converted to subdivision in DS. At the moment it just has diffuse and bump maps.
It only took a few minutes. I'll probably redo the whole thing again, maybe with different colors, and post it as my first freebie if anyone is interested.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=So3VERedjhs
an Octane render of Transfer Utility rigged LAMH geometry export fur
(warning, rigging a demanding process resulting in many crashes of DS, head hair works ok as a prop)

Do you have both plugins activated at the same time, or do you disable Octane when working with the hair?
Whenever I start using the LAMH player whilst Octane is even activated, Daz goes "nope" and closes.

No never have octane open with LAMH or vis versa
I close the Octane window which I have undocked if using LAMH
certainly do not open the octane viewport
I cannot run the player at all if I have LAMH full installed, I had to unistall it, it will crash loading presets for me, so maybe that has more issues too

Hmm... Maybe i'll give it another try then. There's a Moose in my wishlist that I've been dying to use. Thanks for your help, wendy♥cat!
I'll have another go at the pelt now, and if you 'd still like to do a fur "add-on" for it when i'm done, then that would be splendid.
