Content tab issues

I have been away on holiday for a month or so. When I got back (day before yesterday) I started using DAZ Studio 4 as usual. Everything was fine at first. This a.m., however, I can not find my content categories for some reason. ( I must admit I don't really "understand" the inner workings of the content library - I just set things up a year or so ago and used it with no problems.) So - I think what I need is to "view categories as tree" - and I think the folders I so carefully organized should be under "Categories - default" etc etc. But this is what things look like (attachment) - there is nothing under categories for some reason. Also - when I install new content and "scan know directories for files" - nothing seems to happen at all. I.e. my new content should show up, highlighted, under Categories somewhere - but nothing seems "normal" for some reason. Help!

When you install new products in DS4 they will show up in either Poser Formats or Daz Studio Formats or both. They will not automatically be assigned to a Category, we have to do this ourselves manually. Like we did in DS3.

If you have DS3 and you sorted them into categories then you can use the "Migrate Old Content Database" command (it is in the same menu as “scan know directories for files”).

To give you a better understanding the Poser and Daz Studio Formats there just are a mirror of the content folders on your Hard Drive. These are connected you the “scan know directories for files” command.

Is your DAZ Content Management Service running? If you stop it (Windows start button > All Programs > DAZ 3D > DAZ Content Management Service > Stop DAZ Content Management Service) then your Categories folder will go blank like this. Perhaps it isn't starting correctly, got accidentally uninstalled, or is otherwise blocked from communicating with DAZ Studio in some way.

Content Management Service - yes, that fixed it! Thanks so much!

I had no idea it effect Categories too, thanks for that nugget. Bookmarked for others. :)
