Whoa! Lots of skins in Fastgrab atm! Yes we like to make our own but in learning how much work these entail, also nice to get some ready made :-)

Read the information for what's included. Some are morphs only.

Using one of the items that was recently in Fastgrab in this next little demo. The eyes. Much comes into play for making eyes ... and then again to make the mats for to have the eyes look right. There are "layers" in the mesh :-)

Making a copy of the project .psd file and renaming that copy for eyes, opening that now and delete anything not to do with the eyes.
If using a MR for eyes, check its size and resize the project layers to match it ... keep the resolution as high as is sensible.
In PSP, one opens the 2nd image, making 2 tabs open in the program. Then "copy" the newly imported image [and can close that tab] and "paste" it as a new layer into the eye project file.

Also illustrating that while one may have the 'background' layer as a solid colour {normally white or skin coloured}, one can also make their copyright notices as the top layer {so it'll show on all layers underneath it}. If using MR with copyright notices on the layers, do NOT remove those either.

I have a lot of images to edit through for the next part ... will probably be released as a .pdf unless there's a hue and cry to post about 60 images in a row.

Okay ... a rather quickly put together .pdf ... hopefully there are no major typos ...
    DA Link

It's in a zip so the file does not auto-open in browsers.

Update on the import bug matter .... apparently it's not D/S, it's Hexagon ... or a matter of communication between the two programs. Anyway, such matters are for the programmers to fanthom. As far as the users go, for morphing "use the Bridge".

    Free resource "face" skins!

From time to time 3D.sk releases textures with various magazines. 3DArtist, no.60 has 35 face textures on the disk :-)

And using one of said textures, have put together another .pdf file ... covers some information to make brow brushes, hair textures, skin texture, etc. The place holder image for the zip is a free gift no strings attached ;-)

Woah, that site has only a hand full of black people references... or am I missing something?

Yes, AFAIK from reading too much ... it's 'the' site to be a member at for reference photos.

As this is a hobby, not a profession for me, I don't subscribe but do buy the occasional magazine and check out the occasional free reference image provided. Have yet to get that subscription to their newsletter to work ... not impressed somehow as I've often filled in that pop-up request.

Just want to make a small correction here towards Blacksmith3D. They're not a subscription service now, they've just changed to RealityPaint. You don't have to pay a monthly fee or anything, you can still purchase the software outright.

update ... they've changed their name again lol ...

    Blacksmith3D-Pro-v5
Free upgrade for RealityPaint users ... has a texture converter between different uvmappings ... on sale for a short time in another store.

Don't you just hate it when that happens? I am tempted to buy it, just so I have it to work with.

I'm happy enough with the old edition to not be tempted however for pro usage it's probably a good idea ;-)
I have read comments by some pros that they would not consider making skins without a 3D painter.

Okay, scratch the Genesis seams! Golly, don't know what happened ... whether I moved something or Genesis uvs were changed since the seam guides were made ... but if you're getting a shiny line along the neck that should not be there ... that's why.

So I made an entire image of "skin" [no photos] and there are no seam issues no matter which uvmap one uses ;-)

Same image using different colours on the Surface Tab produces quite the variety.

    And the last one.

Obviously not 'finished' for those requiring 'reality' ... but it is a quick way to get the base going.
