How do I turn off highlight in DS4+

I have to step out of DS3 until I can get my dynamic controls back and finish my scene in DS4.6. Of the long list of things that annoy me in DS4+ is the stupid way it highlights everything yellow in my scene anytime the cursor moves over it. Is there any way to turn that off. It's totally distracting my train of thought.

UPDATE:

Since I have to reference this EVERY TIME I RE-INSTALL DAZ ... I thought I'd update it since the process has changed a little since originally asked and answered. What used to be found under 'tool settings' now has its own tab called 'draw settings'. Simply choose 'bounding box only' under the 'highlight style' (first drop-down option).

Window -> Panes -> Tool Settings... and then with the appropriate tool selected...

under the 'Node Highlighting' section... set Draw Style to "Bounding Box Only"...

Then play with "Edge Length", "Active Opacity" and "Inactive Opacity"...

... if you set Edge Length to zero, then you won't get ANY visible indication that the item has been selected (ie it removes the little white 'box' drawn around the selected piece)

... if you set Active Opacity to zero, then you won't get any highlighting of the little white 'box' from above...

... if you set Inactive Opacity to zero, then... I'm not sure what that does <(^_^).

My settings to avoid most of the flicker are "Bounding Box Only", Edge Length 20%, Active Opacity 0%, Inactive Opacity 100%.

    HTH (^_^)/

(note: these settings are per tool... which is somewhat convenient, because for the Surface Selection tool you really _do_ want to see exactly what surface you have selected... whereas for the plain Select tool (the arrow icon), you probably want them all turned off - at least, I did <(^_^)).

    .

THANK YOU! It was so annoying and frustrating ... lol ... Like I'm not annoyed enough at the constant drape and DS4.6 crashing in either drape or render issue.

I think I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 15 times. Little annoys me more than something that claims to be so great and fails to perform. You know?

Thank you very much for this - I knew about turning the yellow colour off, but had no idea you could also adjust the size and opacity like that! I'm really pleased I stumbled upon this thread.

Having seen some of your artworks, I have to say that "inept" is not a word I'd think of applying to you!

Lol ... Then you don't see how often I'm in the forum pleading for help ... lol. I read those lighting tutorials or anything technical that I see so many others doing and my eyes cross ... lol. What amazes me is how patient the members here are with me. They really have to break it down into layman's terms for me (usually including visual aids) for me to grasp anything outside the basics ... lol.

And thanks for the compliment :D Nice to know I have a few people fooled that I've got skillz ... lol. It'll keep the rent paid ... lol.

Yes, thank you, AidanaWillowRaven. I was just about to start a thread asking about this, too. It was driving me nuts. Big thanks to you, M F M for providing the answer. Cheers, everyone! :o)

Never even knew this. I just cheat and use the "Spot Render" tool to get rid of the yellow highlight. :)

Spot render takes too long ... I am the impatient type ... lol. I am happy now ... At least about that. lol

Window - Panes (Tabs) - Draw Settings. Under General menu - Draw Style.

Absolutely FAB! Many thanks. I wonder why people can't simply continue to use the same methods.......

THANK YOU!!! That's been driving me mad for ages!! Doing anything, like just clicking on the turning tool in the top right would highlight the entire background when I just want to turn the scene a bit. It would drive me crazy! This is going to be a sanity saver!

I'm so glad someone asked and answered this before I made the switch from 4.7 to the inevitable 4.8, lol.

It seems like every time I finally get used to where to find half my tools in daz and start feeling like I might be getting somewhere, they 'update' and move them on me.

    Thanks, Ben :D

How do I turn off highlight in DS4.8?

I am not sure if this is the place to ask this question, but I am having this same issue described here for 4.6 with the 4.8 beta. I am not sure if they moved this control or not, but I can't turn off, or adjust, the yellow highlighting.

The iRay engine is great, but the yellow highlighting detracts from my work so much that I use 4.7 where this can be controlled.

Does anyone know how to adjust this in 4.8?

When I was using the private version, I figured they just hadn't gotten to it yet, but now that the public beta is out, I am starting to think they have lost this feature. In my opinion, the yellow highlighting is very distracting.

    I appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks

    Joe (Creatively.Me)

this saved me. thanks google and all the posters. I had this fixed years ago but my drive forced me to reinstall windows and apps and I lost this setting. and of course it moved...so i would have never found it.

    and 4.9? :)

  • Panes/Draw Settings/General/Node Highlighting then set active opacity to 0.

  • Or simply select Bounding Box Only for Highlight Style.

  • I also had to reinstall my OS recently and although I know how to turn of the orange highlight, I had read somewhere how to change this to an outline instead [NOT the bounding box, but an orange (of course!) outline around the selected node/part/whatever.

    Anyone know about that one?

I'm really annoyed with myself for forgetting to note it down when I first learned of it as I forget whether I've had breakfast or not; so imagine what I forget in DS............

With the Surface Selection tool active you will see the boundary of the selected surfaces highlighted, I don't think there's a way to do it for the node selection tools. You can change the highlight colour in Window>Style>Customise Style.

It's happening to me again. As I mouse across the screen some items are being coloured a fetching but annoying blue. Any thoughts how to prevent it please? I have set the highlight style to bounding box only.
