i know there were some complaints in the past that all their girls look alike, but I really like them and feel if the PROMOS showed more variety, the girls would look more different. Does anyone have renders of Melissa, Kayla or DT Amanda (now in Fast Grab)? I would love to see other peoples close up renders of their faces from different angles with different hair (don't care about bodies, I always change those.) Thanks

I think it's a very bad idea when vendors use heavy makeup on all their promos, which is the case with most of DT's characters. Here's a couple of quick Melisa renders with no makeup and DS default lighting. Eyes seem to take a long time to render so they weren't finished when Iray stopped. She looks a little cross-eyed to me btw, with eyes in 0 position.
I have several DT Girls in my Content Library, and they are different in reality, but you'd have a helluva' hard time telling them apart looking at the promos.
Yeah, they're all beautiful but the promos make them look so similar! I think the eyebrows should be lighter on some too because with such dark eyebrows you're almost forced to make her a brunette. @Taozen, those renders look great! I'm trying DT Vivi now to see how unique she is compared to the ones in Fast Grab. One thing I'm noticing is that when you open her mouth, the teeth look black, so I'm trying my old trick of adding white paint enamel to them to make them look brighter. I'm noticing a lot of G3 characters look terrible with their mouth open which makes me want to go back to V4 for some things...
I had Kayla wishlisted, wasn't really sure but gave her a try anyway. Morph looks a lot like Melisa IMO, but texture and eyebrows are different and quite nice.
Have a few of the older ones as well, Sheryl, Lorraine, Natasha, Jesslyn, Ayunia.
I have Jill, who is lovely, but I've never bought another DT character for that exact reason. To me, they all look the same in the promos. I literally can't tell them apart. What's the point in buying 20 characters that all look the same? They may not in actuality, but there's absolutely no way to tell by the product pictures.
As for smiling I've always wondered why DAZ characters have always been bad at that. Even SM's old Miki 2 with all her flaws has a better smile than any DAZ figure I've seen yet, IMO.
Some characters can smile better than others. V4 has great smiles. Here are some REALLY OLD V4 renders, rendered in Poser. V4 has a great smile!
Well the older ones I have are more different, the reason I've hardly bought any of the newer is also that they look much the same. Still, if the textures are enough different it may make sense to buy them. Textures are hard to make yourself, morphs are easy. I actually think it's worse when vendors use the same or only slightly altered textures again and again just with different morphs.
Here's the oldest one in DT's store, Cheryl (3DL only):
It does depend on the character yes, as well as the type of smile, but IMO it's the exception rather than the rule that you see a DAZ character with a great smile like those you posted here. I've seen many renders and promos with smiles that simply look creepy - maybe one of the reasons that so few promo characters actually smile, and if the do, only briefly (that usually looks somewhat OK). There was also a thread about it here a couple of years ago where the general opinion was that DAZ figures were pretty bad when it comes to smiling.
Oh, she looks really nice and a bit different from others, but unfortunately not in Fast Grab. The eyebrows on most characters are the same dark color, forcing her to be a brunette, and I'm too lazy to get the brow remover and replace them, it's actually easier for me to do in post. You're right about the skin too, all the skins are very similar in color. Too bad they don't put more variety in their characters...
Yes, characters should come with different color eyebrows and -lashes. Lyoness is doing it, so it is possible. I don't mind paying a little more for getting some more options.
Lashes colors are easy to fix right in DS, but not eyebrows. It's really too bad they don't have more variety in their characters, they are pretty, but way too similar...
I guess they all have a serious side...... they all seem to be inclined toward philosophy in university.....
From what I remember about my college days... not stoned enough for a philosophy degree. Though the seriousness does reflect our visage upon learning about our employability prospects.
Sadly, very true.
Eyebrows are easy enough; just takes a couple of minutes in Gimp of Photoshop. Granted not as simple as eyelashes.
... And whilst I have Zev0's brow remover, and it works well, I still usually do them in PS.
