That's why they have their Mad Door items, so that you buy one every other day to keep your gold star. Just in case something nice shows up as a new release.

Mad Door items are maddeningly unappealing. I got one, and even on this one I had to think long and hard to convince myself.

I do like the advice of someone on this forum (apologies, I forgot who it was! come forward and take the credit! ;) ) advising to buy a $+1 gift card instead. It does count toward the golden ticket, and it's a dolar-something that you later get to use on something you really want, even after MM ends.

And speaking of MM, today, I got Joan 9 Add-On bundle in my LDs for a nice price of $9, so along with my monthly DO coupon (I figured there's no point waiting till later in the month; last month I barely used both, and it still felt forced), it was a really nice deal.

I've gotten a couple LD gems since MM started. Zale 8.1 the end of February and Snow Queen character bundle today. Those and Niketa for my free Feb. bundle are 99% of my MM buys, aside from biweekly & Daz+ freebies. Otherwise, this sale is still Oh-Nevermind-ness. Hoping Daz will have something good for St. Patrick's Day, like last year.

The artist grab bag almost had me curious for a hot second, thinking -- briefly -- maybe I could work with this!

    And then I saw it...
*Does not stack with other offers.

    Can't use my monthly coupon?

    Never mind, then.

Yes, that was me. I've done it multiple times now.  No sense in buying something you won't use. Money is money to Daz so they have no problem with the qualifying item being a gift card. They've allowed this in many sales in the past as well.

I'm thinking about trying this, too, but right now, I don't really know if it's even worth it. The week-end is probably gonna be catch up as per usual, and not many of the artists on my WL are on sale right now. Even if they were, I'd buy their stuff on one day and then that's it, nothing else interesting to do with my precious gold star. So I'll probably just be grumpy and sit this sale out for a few days, until something nice comes along again.

I am happy with the $1.99 MAD items I've bought. Some nice ones that have been on my wishlist a long time.

  • theflarftheflarf Posts: 197

Feels misleading to me for the the headline to be "Madness Grab Bags on sale" and the tagline "... I've got No Strings"

then to scroll down and the 'Todays Special'  is "Buy and Newly mad, still mad, or recently mad to get' stuf for $2.99

That sounds like strings attached to me.

Anyway, I'm baffled by the mad door prizes being the exact same selection seemingly, i'm not scrolling through thousands of items on the off chance one is in my wishlist

Agreed. I know they're using it as a shout out to their marionette new releases, but someone really didn't think through the other ways that could be taken.

Honesty at this point I think it might be more accurate for Daz marketing team if they had a scarecrow release and used the obvious reference for that one.

I've been using the Daz Deals paid version "Hide this product from listings" on the door prizes; I'm up to page 20 so far, with nothing showing when I finished yesterday. There are two "new" items on page 8, one on page 9, three on page 12, one on page 13, one on page 16, and one on page 18. Pages 19 and 20 are blank, and I haven't started on page 21 yet, so I don't know if anything has changed from there on.So yes, there are changes from day to day - but not really worth scrolling through 62 pages looking for them.

I've been here since 2005/2006 and I've passed on all of these items dozens of times; I figure by the time this madness ends I'll have hidden all but about 6 or 7 of the 3,685 items I don't currently own.

I wish we could at least sort them by filters such as hair

  • NetherFalconNetherFalcon Posts: 885

We definitely need an actual item filter for the sale items.  They want us to scroll and scroll so we'll impulse buy, but that can be a good thing when you find a random product that you can put to great use.  I have a love/hate relationship with it because sometimes I have time to scroll, but other times I just find to find a new hairstyle and want to look at just those.

I decided I can afford to keep buying antique science fiction till I get the rest of the pieces. (Not much else at the same time, though. Too bad.) Then queue a whole bunch of retexturing practice as I move it to Blender and thence to 3DCoat for painting. There is now no point in my buying Daz- or Poser-format models, except that I happen to be here already, I know how to move it, and the antique stuff is still cheap at certain times.

I wish the website were more functional. Making it hard for customers to find what they want to buy is perverse. I've largely run out of patience with it.

Finally made my first purchase during March Madness, a $2.00 Propschick hair for V4 that looks like it could work in FilaToon and be refit to current characters, just so I can get a gold star for tomorrow so I can use my tokens before they expire. I have never seen a MM sale this bad in all the time I've been a member here. I think I will have spent less this month in my entire history at Daz (except when I left Daz during Genesis 1 & 2 because I was Poser only.)

And I take it back that the sort-by-price option on the website is fixed. It isn't. Gah.

"Perverse" is a good word for it.

Almost halway through March and it's definitely been the Meh-iest March Meh-ness to date.  It's bed enough that Mad Doors promotion has been so heavily dependent on ancient Renderosity product, but for there not to have been a single refresh on the items in the Mad Doors promo since the sale began, but now it looks like the Mad Artists grab bag promo is going the same route...  sigh...

I can assure them I would buy a couple door prizes if I could sort them

I give up looking after a very brief daily scroll, bought everything already I want from that collection as is

I've managed to get together a few things I liked this month, but I reckon I'm done with the sale. I've spent about 20 bucks. I did also notice that Death 9's pro bundle is gone from the store, but I don't know if that's related to the sale, lol.

All Daz Genesis 9 characters are now using the HD Character / HD Add-on bundles system introduced with Premier and Daz has removed all older bundles. The previously time limited / pro bundle exclusive shapes are now available through the HD addon bundles or individually.

In case you want to buy an interactive licence for a bundle now longer available, it's now possible from your Product Library on Daz3D.com

That's too bad. I liked last year's promo a lot - Spent the most of any time all year. So far, this year, I'm sailing slowly past this. sad

The requirement to have bought something yesterday (or the day before) to have discounts today is definitely a detriment to shopping. I didn't buy anything in the past 2 days and forgot to buy the $+1 gift card to keep my ticket (not hard to forget when you're not building carts but checking the website, going "meh," and going to play video games instead), so today morning, my reaction is "not buying anything". Didn't even look through new releases properly, wishlisted the new dog (which I might have considered getting... if not for the lack of the ticket), and well... I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot to buy the giftcard for the ticket again today. Which would mean I won't be buying tomorrow...

"Buy something yesterday to get discounts" doesn't sound like a good marketing tactics to keep people buying, unless someone has a time machine lying around. (Yes, there was one for Christmas too, but at least it stacked over the days and was more generous.)

Well, I did break down & buy two models that seemed pretty good VFM as Mad Door Prizes (Island Castle and The Old Barn). They are both ones I have considered at various times past and both will look pretty spectacular in USC2 or USXT. The Old Barn, in particular, with a bit of re-texturing to make it look as if it's been covered in bitumen in the past and turn the shingles into slates will let it pass for a ramshackle Victorian remnant from round where I live. Nice.

    Regards,

    Richard

Most limited/exclusive shapes are still available but (possibly) not all. Snow Queen 9 & Olivia 9 shapes for example. The Add-on bundles' Description and What's Included sections still list them although the thumbnails are gone. No individual sales pages either.

I have asked about the SQ shapes, & at least 1 person has asked about Olivia's, in the sales report thread but I've not seen any responses. I'm not buying the SQ Add-on just to find out (& return if they are missing), especially not at full price. Do I want to ask once more in thread or just go directly to a sales support ticket?

...and there were things that enticed me to buy, though admittedly by the end I was kind of scraping the bottom. Not all the daily-new-cheap things were my cuppa tea (most weren't) but at least there was a chance, and at the very least it would be the /first/ time I passed on it, not the /twentieth/.

Guess I'll have to do the same as soon as something worth buying appears among the new products we get presented each day. For now there wasn't a single one worth spending money or use my $ 10.- coupon for it. Ah well, I'm Premiere 'til the 27th so I just have to be patient, I guess.

I compare the deals on offer to me now with the deals on offer a year go, and I just don't see the point to participating. Sorry Daz! Luv ya but Torquinox Procurement Department is currently closed, likely to stay that way for a while. It's not all because of the sale, but the sale isn't encouraging participation, either. It's not personal. It's just how it goes. sad

That probably sounds pretty bad, but IDK what else to say. Guess I'll go back to lurking.

I'm Daz+ for a few more months. I've been doing well, getting some older stuff that I have a use for for $2.50 every other day or so. It's honestly the most I've been buying in months.
