It appears that DIM is trying to use the old Valentina database, as Totte pointed out. I don't know if installing DIM installs PostgreSQLCMS automatically, so you might have to download and install it manually. Not sure if that's enough to start, or if Daz Studio needs to be installed manually, too. (It's been too long to remember, last new computer was a year ago).

the big problem is, I've already downloaded and installed DIM manually.. it has been downloaded and installed manually and stand alone already, on my new fresh macOS Mojave system.. all system is fresh new install, there is no data from Migration Assistant at all..

Ok, let's do it bit by bit.

    1. In DIM Settings, what is your specified Download and Installation directories?
    2. Do you have DAZ Studio and PostgreSQL installed?

You do not have to download PostgreSQL or Daz Studio with DIM, you can get them directly from your Product Library on the DAZ site. Search for "PostgreSQL CMS" and "Daz Studio 4.x". Manually download the Mac versions and install them outside of DIM.

So, yes, one step at a time. DIM is installed, but that is only one part of the setup. DAZ Studio and Install Manager share information through the CMS database created and maintained by PostgreSQL, a separate program that must be installed to create the database in the first place. No need to migrate anything, that was for existing users to preserve their data when the database engine was changed from Valentina to PostgreSQL.

DIM appears to want to make a connection to the database before it can download anything. Not sure why it is looking for the old Valentina system. That might be the default for the version of DIM you have now. Presumably it will use PostgreSQLCMS once it is installed. Then you can hopefully update your version of DIM and proceed with your downloads.

I install DazStudio from DIM usually so I just need to download and install PostgreSQLCMS(Mac) manually then would be resolve the problem of DIM can't download anything then I can download DazStudio & DazStuff from DIM normally as usual right?

Hopefully. There is still the Install Manager update to deal with after getting PostgreSQL installed. One step at a time...

This button does not work? (Don't use the button on the right). Your browser should download it. Did you check to see if it is where the browser would put it?

Do you still get the same messages as before? Check the log file to see if you are getting different errors.

    Please help!!

Do DIM have rights to write to those paths?

    Sorry I don't understand what's your mean..

If you have told DIM to download to a certain directory and DIM is not allowed to write there (the user under which DIM is running dont have write access to the directory, problems can occur, but you can check that under the "cog" and show log. This will probably tell you why DIM fails downloading.

An update for Install Manager has been detected. To downloaded and install the update, click the "Update" button.  Once the download is complete, Install Manager will close and the update will begin.  Install Manager will relaunch once the update is complete. To continue using Install Manager without downloading or installing the update, click the "Work Offline" button.

the upper dialog box appears when I login DIM then show me Install Manager could not download the update from the DAZ 3D store after I click UPDATE..

Then couldn't download anything from products show up, I cut a little piece of the log below, please help:

Is there one or more PostgreSQL processes running? Normally DIM or DAZ Studio starts it. If none are running then DIM is not starting it. Try installing DAZ Studio manually (I know you said that you normally install it with DIM, but this isn't normal). When you start DAZ Studio, you should get some PostgreSQL processes, and DIM should be able to work with them. If DAZ Studio complains that a valid CMS connection could not be made, well, that's another problem.

So, it looks like PostgreSQL is starting normally with DIM. This is good.

Do you still get this warning when you try to download something (in the log file)?

WARNING: /src/dzvalentinaobjectdatabase.cpp(38): DB Register Open error: Cannot establish VC_Connection with remote server.
Make sure the server address and port number are correct.

Okay, we know that there is a download problem. Let's check if DIM can actually install something once it is downloaded. Manually download any product (it doesn't matter which one, smaller files will be quick to do) and put it in the download folder that you have designated in DIM (Setup -> Downloads -> Package Archive: ).

Refresh DIM, and the product should appear under "Ready to Install", so try to install it. If successful, it will then appear under "Installed". This means that DIM and PostgreSQLCMS are working together properly.

If that is the case, then the problem is with the ability to download from the server.

It seems still get this warning in the log file.. then DIM install ability is fine.. For now it looks like the only problem is with the ability to download from the server, right?

Okay, I don't understand why it is still trying to connect to the Valentina server, when the PostgreSQL processes are running. Try re-installing DIM. It seems like it is not properly configured, but there are no settings you can change to select the database engine. If that doesn't work, someone else with Mac experience will have to step in, because I have no more insight into this matter, sorry.

You're welcome! To answer that last question, if DIM can install, and Studio can find it with metadata and all that, then the only problem appears to be with the download connection.

Still can't update my DIM even they clear my cache.. Oh my god!!

I just did a fresh reinstall of everything through DIM and many products are still in the uninstalled section of Smart Content in black and white and other things are not visible at all, like Colorwerks which don’t even come up in a search in the content directory or smart content although DIM shows them being installed... A lot of new stuff like the Brute bundle and about 100 or more random things from Genesis to G8 to sets, props, etc..., both new and old did not install although DIM says they did. They are greyed out in both the content directory and smart content. I’m having to uninstall and reinstall each one individually which is a big pain...

If the CMS was off when you installed (can happen, for example, if you close DS and open DIM immediately - as DS is till closing down its processes, including PostgreSQL, while DIM is booting) then the items will not ahe been added to the database and so will show as uninstalled. You don't need to close DS to use DIM fior content installs - you do for application installs, and it's a prudent idea for plug-in installs.

Also, belatedly adding, if a product doesn't have user-facing files then they won't show in views that give file-level access, just in the product-based lists

I would like to uniinstall all poser and poser cf files in DIM. I haven't been able to find an 'uninstall selected' option. This would make it so much easier if there is an option I can't seem to find it. Uninstalling files one by one would be ok if the list didn't jump to the top after each time. This forces me to have to scroll down and find where I left off only to have it happen again after another uniinstall. Is there an easier more efficient way to do this?

Check all of the packages you want to uninstall on the Installed page... click the bright green "Start Queue" button in the bottom left corner.

Many of them are morphs and expressions but tons were not and I had to uninstall and reinstall them and now they work but several do not work no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall them. These don't work and I can't figure out why... They are greyed out in the Install section of Smart Content but show the checkmark for smart content in DIM. A few are older products but many are newer.

  •  China can't access the DIM server, and can't download the installation files. It should be China's shielding of foreign servers. I don't know if the official will fix this problem. At present, there are quite a lot of people using DAZ in China. thank

I’m suddenly getting a bunch of Download Failed! It only downloads a few KB of data, then says download failed and it goes down the line doing that for everything. Eventually some have downloaded completely after clicking them over 20 times or so as it downloads a few more KB then stops. My internet is fine, I have 4 free TB on the external hard drive, nothing else has changed...

Maybe the number of connections? Too many might confuse something in your system. Used to be 2, now defaults to 4, which you can change.
