Just picked up a gift card for $201 at $160 and got charged/invoiced for three. Lovely. Submitted a ticket crying

Did you pay through PayPal or credit card o?

Glitches and system errors at the merchant (or their payment processor) can cause multiple charges if your credit card information is stored with them. I once had this issue even with a reputed hosting provider who promptly refunded once I brought it to their attention. With PayPal there is an additional authorization required at PayPal website for each transaction unless the user has accepted a PayPal subscription with the merchant, in which case charges are procerssed without additional authorization. In the absence of a PayPal subscription, even if a merchant system were to err and send multiple charges to PayPal, those would have to be individually authorized by the user to be charged.

My math skills are horrible. I kept trying $50 bucks and wondering why less that $5 bucks was coming off. lol

    Well... blush

@youri_z  Are you sure you got charged for them? You usually get duplicate codes in your email, doesn't mean you got charged for them.

Good thought. The first thing I did was check the charges on my credit card. But I already knew I had been charged because I got three separate gift certificate codes emailed to me along with three distinct invoices about 1 minute apart.

I contacted my credit card company and, thankfully, they assured me that I wouldn't get shorted on the exchange rate (which is crazy right now for the limping Canadian dollar).

Good to know. I'm also not a big fan of PayPal, despite the convenience.

I paid with a credit card. But my credit card information is not stored with DAZ and hasn't been for almost five years now. I enter it for every single transaction. I prefer it that way.

    I'm sure this was just a hiccup in the payment process—a $321.60 eye-bulging hiccup—that they'll address shortly.

Yeah, I wish I had a store credit bought at 20% off with no pre-req a few days ago when that glitch was going on.

I admit I was wrong. I wanted to make a thread exclaiming that today would be a special sale day because Daz hooked everybody info giftcards and wanted the base to have some cash. They even extended the offer. lol

I thought for sure that something on the level of Dforce was coming today.

But no, I was wrong. It's a nice sale and that's it.

    ------

oh and that new figure is awesome.

The day is not over yet. There is always the possibility of a super flash sale, or deep discount coupons, or other tempting sales to get our newly purchased credit.

Well, I'm here. But I can't imagine what could top the recent flash sales - and not impact/interfere with any current daily sale.

I would love a new technology though.

Now I'm getting confused about the wording of the sale.

At the bottom: "40% OFF*¥ Featured Artist Catalogs" and "Buy any new release above to get 60% OFF*¥ THESE ARTIST CATALOGS!"
At the top: "Get an EXTRA 20% OFF featured artist catalogs!"

So, this is no longer how it used to work? In the past, this meant that you get 20% off of the already discounted 40% off price. But that would only be 52% off, not 60% off. Is this just a temporary thing, or does "extra" mean we need to add the percentages from now on (like in today's sale), instead of multiplying them (like in the past)?

This is how it stands: Buy any new release above to get 60% OFF*¥ THESE ARTIST CATALOGS! The correct verbiage is on the store banner and page.

If I take a look at yesterday's sale here: https://www.daz3d.com/05-31-things-just-got-weird then the wording is exactly the same ("get an extra 20% OFF¥* featured artist catalogs") and yet it doesn't give me the 60% off like today's sale.

I know how it works, but the wording is extremely confusing. The phrase "extra 20% off" should mean the same thing every day. Not 20% on one day, but only 12% on another day.

Think of all the buyers who don't visit the forums to have this "today it means this but yesterday the same thing meant that"  explained to them!

They’ve already got our money, Charlie. They'll want us to use up the store credit on expensive items rather than on discounts and deals. ;-)

I have a feeling the gift card sale was to bring in money to pay the PAs that got screwed over in the glitch (that I missed again, of course. Bummed, it happened on my birthday and that would have been a nice present!)

Well, it obviously was to bring in money  and maybe to improve end of month reports; but I would hope that DAZ is in good enough financial shape that they didn't have to do it in order to be able to pay the PAs

    Just gotta say.

This April and May wasn't nearly as exciting sales wise as it was last year, not to mention March Meh-ness.  Sure, we had those coupon thingies recently, but I'm remembering that there were deeper discounts last year - i.e. multiple sales where I was adding a bunch of stuff to my cart at $1 each or less.  A lot of that was older stuff, but nonetheless this year's March-April-May sales were 'meh' compared to last year's March-April-May.

The only upside is the 'bonus' bundles we are getting with the last couple of G8F/M Pro bundles, and there was that brief V4 sale in March, so there have been moments, but nothing compared to last year.  The big Plat Club sale should come later this year, but of course there will be other new sales in the meantime.  I'm not expecting much excitement from those, but the year isn't even half over yet so who knows.

At least Fast Grab discounts are more meaningful now I guess.

Judging by what they make from me alone each month I think DAZ is in good shape financially :)

If you are a PC+ member, and the PC discount of 30% is not showing for you, don't panic. Put the products in your cart and the price total should be correct.

Edit: Looks like the discounts are now showing on the store/product pages again.

I've been wondering what is going on with the pc+ prices. I'm not even seeing the 30%, they are full price, but they are not changing in my cart regardless of sign in/out or a refresh. I was looking at my wishlist a few days ago and all pc+ were full price along with a bunch of Do's. I went to make sure I was listed as a pc+ member and am until 2019. Still nothing has changed in my wishlist, all pc+ full price along with a lot of Do's.

40% off and an extra 20% off means 60% off.
40% off and an extra 30% off means 58% off.

    Whaaaaaaa. :(

    It's really quite simple. 40+20=60, while (x-40%)-30%=x-58%.

Ha. where is the DAZ proofreader?  From the description of Beaune-Courtyard:

This set depicts the town's medieval hospital's courtyard.

Think they meant hospice not hospital:

You're missing the point. :) Why are you using two different formulas here when the wording of the two sales is exactly the same? :)

I don't believe it is incorrect since the Hospices de Beaune was founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of Burgundy, as a hospital for the poor.
