Render Engines Help: Lux Octagon Reality and so on...for DAZ Studio

What are the pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses, and reasons for using for the different render engines like LUX, Octagon, Reality and so on, available to do DAZ scene renders?

If you have a scene and want to use these different render engines, how do you go about getting them and how do you use them to render your scene?

Exeriences would be helpful and why people prefer one over the other. I have been using 3Delight. I tried IRAY but render times were too long and I did not see any particular advantage. I liked the 3Delight renders better. But hearing about LUX, Octagon, and Reality made me wonder if I am missing something important.

how can I move Vic4 into Blender?

I am trying to do some work with Vic4 wearing a skirt (in pic) in Blender and was told to select "everything" and move her as an .obj but how do you select everything to do this?

I want her to still be in the dress when I put her in Blender. How can I do this?

Is Genesis 2 and 3 custom UV necessary

I did a Daz forum search on this topic and could not find an answer.

Is it actually necessary to make a custom UV for Genesis 2 and 3 male and female sub-characters like Karen 7? Are they so different from the original shapes that there would be distortion?

Can anyone show me what the distortion would look like?

Does Poser have an uninstaller?

I know this seems like it should be asked in the Poser section, but sometimes there is very little traffic there... I figured this would get a quicker answer here...

I'd like to uninstall Poser Pro 2012 and do a clean reinstall, but I don't see any uninstaller... I got a "Poser Pro executables has stopped working" message and stupid windows just keeps closing Poser to "search for a solution" (hint: there is none)...

Is there no uninstaller or is it somewhere I'm not seeing... I'm using Windows 7 pro, I looked where I think it should be, but nothing... Do I just trash it and reinstall? I googled it and all I found was one Mac related question and lots of shady sites "selling" uninstaller software "good for remove you poser anytime so good, click here..." Yeah...

Anyway, thanks in advance if you know the answer to that... Double thanks if you tell me about it...

I know that G3 is all the rage and all but when you see products like http://www.daz3d.com/i13-spa-and-lounge-environment-with-poses where the provided poses are only for Genesis 3.. Pretty much puts us Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 users out in the cold, because if I buy something I want to be able to use all of it and not just part of it.. And since the only pose converter here only goes from G2 to G3, and by the looks not backwards compatible.. Ah well one less item to put on my wishlist..

Evening all.

I don't use the DIM. Never have, and would rather not.

In light of DAZ's plans for future content, I decided to give the 4.9 beta a whirl and see if I can embrace change.

I'm about 6 minutes into a 13-minute long video tutorial on how to add meta data to old content, and would like to ask a question.

How in God's name is going through all that trouble any better than simply navigating the Content Library, just to be able to turn old content into Smart Content?

I was saddened to hear that Kathryn Lock passed away December 4, 2015 of an apparent lung embolism. I have posted Kathryn's Obituary and related links to the Book Cover thread she started in the Artist Forum. The link to her Memorial Wall as well as a link to her Funeral Fund have also been posted there. I just wanted to make sure that anyone who has had the opportunity to enjoy chatting with Kathryn, but didn't follow her Book Cover thread, knew of her passing.

Daz to Maya and face morphs

I've exported Victoria 4.2 to fbx and imported in maya.

As export rules I've added head.CTRLHappy and head.CTRLEyesClose-Open.

I've imported the fbx, but now the question is where do I find the face morph controls in Maya?

I just wanted to take a moment to compliment Daz for the recent changes to the website. If this was the end goal to past updates that didn't seem to go well then I now say it was all worth it. I especially like how you can now tell easily at a glance when an item is in your shopping cart or your wish list without having to go to the page of the product in question.

Why is Daz telling me I can save money if I punch little kids?

Hats off to Raiya and outoftouch for this bundle as it is excellent! Well worth the price in my opinion.

Raiya - Cailin is fantastic and its not often that I say that about a non-fae-style character model. Beautiful, youthful, distinct from the usual V7 clones, with a sweetness about her that I find irresistible. And what a body! You say that "Long hours of work went into the morphs to create a truly unique character" and it really shows! Its clear that a lot of time and effort went into her. I can't fault her - not found any problems at all so far; no strange texture shifts or weird skin colorations. The "Anatomical Elements" (nice phrasing ) match up perfectly and I do mean perfectly. She has very rosie lower cheeks, and I don't mean the ones on her face, but that just adds to the charm. I wouldn't mind meeting the lady you modelled this on! Phwoarrr!!

outoftouch - Excellent hair, extremely versatile with all the morphs and very realistic looking. Great dress as I've come to expect from you with some excellent cheeky morphs thrown in.

I heartily recommend this bundle to everyone.

Lets say I wanted a render of a huge aircraft flying above the landscape with the shadow casting on the ground. How does one handle like super zoomed out renders of landscapes? Like this:

Do you just use a flat image plane? Or is there a program to make environments like this? Or is their a product that comes with landscapes like this? Thanks!

Need a Bald Eagle [Solved]

I find myself in urgent need of a Bald Eagle, and I can find 2 available. One is here, using the Eagle 1 and Eagle 2 Upgrade option, the other one is at Hirewive. I think the Hirewive looks a bit better, and it comes with some different options and poses. However buying it seems to be impossible, as all my attempts to create an account there have failed, everytime I press submit it just clears the screen and returns to the "register as new user" screen. I know DAZ forums are not the place to be asking about another site, but the forum over there is dead, and help is only available to registered customers, which is a bit bad when you need help to become a registered customer! I have read they had a massive problem with a hack on their site, but I thought at least the shop was back, but it seems to not want any new customers. Anyone know if this is likely to change, or should I just go ahead and buy the DAZ eagle?

and other explitaves. I posted this else where and got no joy so I thought I'd make it a thread.

For some reason DIM does not like me. I have never been able to get this to work for me so up til now I have been down loading every thing manually. Now I want to download DS4.9 and the only way I can get it is through DIM.

I'm on a Mac os10.thelatest. and the DIM is the latest and I followed the given instructions and refering to the enclosed screen shots you can see what I have done in the filter window.

I get a series of file listed in the filter field upper right hand corner but can get nothing to load in the Product Name list. What am i missing?

Saving Poses for Genesis 3 Issues with Origin Point

Everytime I save a pose for Genesis 3 and load it, he/she goes into the correct pose, but the origin point is messed up and this does not work when trying to make couple poses. The couples do not match up with eachother. Other poses that I load, load with the origin on the body part that is on the ground. When I load my pose, he/she is up in the air, off the ground, with the origin point staying on the ground. The other poses from other people leave the character where there are when I load the pose, but the origin point goes with the character and puts it on the body part thats on the ground (which is correct in my opinion.) Any ideas why my poses are doing this?

Hey does anyone know if a there is a converter or script available (or in the works) for Genesis 3 to Genesis 2? I dig some of the G3F/G3M pose sets coming out, but have no desire to hop on the Genesis 3 train.
