Tip for Reality users - clothing material

Hello!

I have read this tip in another forum, and I thought I present it here, because it is really useful. This is for all Reality/Lux users only!

If you have clothes where you cannot find a material setting that looks good, do the following:

- convert the cloth to metal and check the "custom metal" option, so that the textures do not get lost.

Now you can play with the polish value to increase or decrease glossiness. That´s all.

Here is an example:

In this image I used the pants from the Vigilante Outfit. I never could make them look good in Reality/Lux. No matter what I did, glossy, matte, all kinds of cloth materials, nothing worked. But converting them to custom metal did the trick !!! :-)

This is a very rough image which was rendered in just 5 minutes, but it is good enough to see the pants material.

IRay HDR dome not showing up in workspace?

Hi,

I recently got started with iRay. I downloaded an HDRI to use as the environment dome. Draw Dome was checked On. However, the scene was still empty. After some research, I found out that I needed to view the scene through the nvidia preview. I did this through the Aux Viewport. This worked, but whenever I tried to move the camera, the HDR would disappear immediately and reappear in a different position, after I stopped moving the camera. This is a bit annoying. I'm wondering if there's a way that the dome can stay, well, consistent?

Now that Dreamlight is here , how does that affect my prior purchases of modules and content from them ? I was wondering if anyone might know where I could purchase a DAZ compatible suit suchas is worn by the character Leeloo in the 5th Element film,and also recomend sets of casual and heroic poses thet are on the intricate side? I have the software to autofit from V4 up, the pose and texture converters. I love working in this medium, though I am only a few months in. I'm a traditional pencil pen and brush artist, so this is a whole new playland of challenge and creativity! I have also noticed a bit of a difference between 3dlight renders and Poser renders. I understand from the forums that the two rendering engines are very similar, and that the thrust of the image differences is in the lighting. Ifanyone would be willing to suggest Poser like light sets or lighting tips to achive more natural and realistic renders in 3 delight, it would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you to all!

I don't know if this has to do with daz' progression towards the Cloud thing or if its something else going on, maybe just with my copy of the program.
For just a little while I've noticed some content changing in various ways. What I have noticed the most, and is most apparent is a change in how my characters and such are listed, this is in reference to "smart content" Tab only. I have not seen any change readily apparent in the 'Content Library' Tab.

ok, what happened is, say I need to load a G2 male (see attachment #2), normally I select something like a light or camera in the node box (because as we know smart content is searched depending upon your selection), ok, I go to Figures>People>Male, and "normally" I find G2M there. uhm, he's missing, errr, missing from this dir, but he IS in the content, but no longer in the smart content for figures>male? I had to go about another way of loading the g2m, but I've never had to do this before, and becuse I was so used to finding him this way, I had to think about another route to him for a moment, lol. This is the same for Females too. There are no male or female genesis, genisis 2, nor 3 in this dir anymore, only the starter essentials. I did the same thing with footwear for a figure. Usually when I do this I'm getting individual thumb nails of all the shoes I have that has meta data included. Nope, now I get a thumbnail of the whole clothing item instead, I cant even "see" the shoes in the thumbnail because it is showing the whole image of the outfit, I did forget to check on individual items that are not in a clothing bundle, e.g., the store item was ONLY a pair of shoes, but maybe all my shoes for g2m came with a clothing bundle, thats possible. Either which way I saw no individual shoes listed (screen shot #1).

Is my 4.8 going silly or is this from some hidden update, or did I unknowingly change something that I'm not familiar with or aware of doing? Clicked something wrong that I've evidently not done before?

Problem with G3M expressions - probably because of Wicked Fantasy Morphs

I have modelled today in DAZ Studio 4.8 on a new character for my library. I have used several morphs from the "Wicked Fantasy Morphs" to model parts of the face (Chinn, Ears, Nose). So far, so good.

But when I want to add a expression from the morphs library, anything get out of control.

This happens when I us about 57% of the "Contempt"-Slider

And this when I set "Fear" to 100%

Has anyone an idea? I don't want to remodel my character.

How do I get Daz 4.9 back?

My laptop was stolen in an armed robbery a few weeks ago. Got a new one now, and install manager installed all my cntent, but not 4.9. Tried downloading it from my downloads page, from the store, etc. but it still doesn't show up in Install Manager. Not under "Ready to Download", "Ready to Install" or "Installed". If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I just saw that Pretty3D has a 70% off sale on their entire catalog. Just curious, I noticed that some items they sell on their Renderosity store are not available in the DAZ store. Does anyone know how or why this marketing separation of items works?

dreamlights forsaken world it says it has one dyson core installer? I download on one computer and transfer all my dl's to a stand alone computer that has daz on it,does this mean I can't use the forsaken world model?

Just to know...

I have a problem with a GC that I am unable to redeem because the codes that I have received are both invalid but I get no reply from the store Dept despite the fact that the ticket was submitted on December 24th and that I have emailed them yesterday at the address that I can find on my Paypal receipts: sales@daz3d.com

I know that the issue occurred on Xmas eve and that it was a holiday weekend but if the offices are closed, DAZ should clearly state it in the forum since it is what they usually do. That way I would know that I will not get any reply before... "I do not know when".

It is annoying that there are such annoying glitches in the system and that the issues do not seem to get fixed.

I am a loyal DAZ customer but I feel ignored and it is very annoying.

I have the G3F to G2F and G3M to G2M converters for third generation clothing to work on the Genesis 2 figures I have, but I can't seem to find the option to cross gender 3rd generation clothing like I've always been able to do with 2nd and 1st generation genesis clothing.

Does anyone have an idea of how to do that? Or am I just missing an obvious step?

I was just looking at this, and I noticed that some PA's in the 'T' to 'the rest' range aren't included. Is this sale only for certain PA's? Perhaps one's who opted in? The way it's written I thought it was all PA's in the range of T and the rest.

The mechanics of this sale is beyond me. Was hoping to shop for some stuff by 4blueyes. Her/his store is not listed with the 40% discounted PA catalogs. But the rotating discount is also not applied. 4blueyes contributed with the Vintags Holiday Outfit to the sales though. Maybe that's why the rotating discount does not work. Bummer!

Is there a way in the storefront to select to turn off all the products that we haven't purchased but leave all the purchased items selected so that we aren't just looking through the list of items? It seems like if the storefront can turn off all of the purchased items that we could select something to reverse what we see so that we aren't looking through huge lists....I own over 1400 items and find this would be helpful.

Chest hair for G3 Males?

I love chest hair on my models. I have products to put chest hair on M4, Genesis and G2 males. Unfortunately, everything I've tried to get these products to work on G3M figures have failed miserably. I'm not good at LAMH, yet, and the one attempt I've made so far ended up looking like a chest full of seaweed. I won't even mention what happened down below south of the border.

Anyone, know of an easy way to convert older product, yet, or a of a product for G3M I may have missed to get the fellows to look like they haven't been waxy their chests? So far, there hasn't been a lot in the way of chest hair on skins, either. M7 has a little bit and so does FWSA Aiden, but nowhere near the amount I would like.

My next stop is to take a skin into Gimp and give that a whirl, but I don't know how I'll do with that yet as I haven't yet tried modifying a skin before. I really like this one character that I've created for G3M, but he really needs chest hair. Otherwise, I may have to stick with my older fellows for awhile longer until some really good, hairy skins come out or until there is a way to transfer my older favorite skins to G3M

Any vendors have anything hairy in the works? Maybe a way of converting older character skins to the new model? Anything already out there for G3m that I might have missed?

Rotating Flash Sale missing non-punchcard artists (Solved)

'The_Digivault' is not in the Punchcard sale but still seems to have been missed altogether in the rotating flash sales. It wasn't in the 'D' section so OK I figured since it appears under the 'Ts" in the vendpor listings that it would be in the 'T' section of the rotating flash sales. BUT NO, it isn't there either and neither are other "The" artists. Is this a mistake and if so can it be corrected before the sale ends?
