The sale banner says 49% off the Daz 3D store. Then it says today only, 49% off Daz Originals for PC+ members. What is special about today or PC+ membership if the whole Daz 3D store is already 49% off?

Problem extracting HDRI files

I seem to be having a problem recently extracting files from .zips I've downloaded from my Product Library, but it only seems to happen for HDRI products I've bought. I get errors like: 0x80004005:Unspecified Error, and it doesn't extract some of the files.

Has anyone elsecome across this?

I'm confused. http://www.daz3d.com/rebellious-teen-outfit-for-genesis-3-female-s The title of this product suggests it is for Genesis 3, the compatible figures line states it's for Genesis 3, yet all but one of the promo images have the words "Genesis 2" written on them. One that does not have this text has no text at all.

So is this for Genesis 3, or Genesis 2? :-o

Think we've hit the first glitch with DAZ Connect - I'm currently downloading the three Encrypted DAZ Connect - Only Promo Items (Medieval Storage Room, Lynsey G3F, and Dragon Queen) through DIM! Medieval Storage is already installed, and yes, it's unencrypted.

Nooooooo! I just bought Michael 7 last week and I noticed that today there is a special price in the bundle due to 4.9 release. Is there an extra discount if we want to get the bundle but already own the basic figure? Even if it is just an extra 5%. I just don't want to feel that I'm re-buying the whole figure again.

I'm a little unclear about what you can save when using DAZ Connect's Encrypted products. The FAQs refer to saving scene but can they still be saved as OBJ or DAE to use in different software such as Vue?

Why not two versions of 4.9?

This is just my observation but I think that all the debate seems to center on connect. Im sure that all you guys work very hard at improving the software and are anxious to share those results with the rest of us. We would certainly enjoy any improvements to 3delight and iray or DAZ in general. Alot of us have simply declined to try 4.9 because of connect.

Would it be possible to roll out a second version of 4.9 that has no trace of connect in it what so ever? I know that you dont have to use connect at all, ever, if you so choose, but the fact that it is there in the first place is alienating alot of people.

I think this would go a long way in supporting the entire community.

It might be a silly and idealistic suggestion, but, what could it hurt?

I have been a very loyal and enthusiastic DAZ customer. My product library runs to 43 pages.

When G3 came along I didn't complain - I could see it was a business decision and I thought I would wait and see what the content would look like. I have both V7 and M7 but I have never used them, because I have no content to go with them. There are aesthetic decisions I make about the kind of images I am trying to create, and overtly sexualised cheesecake, soft-porn and adolescent fantasy isn't what I have been doing. Again, I didn't complain. It is hard being a content creator, and they are entitled to make content that sells.

What did happen however is that I began to use V4 and M4 and bought content from other places. I had misgivings about trying to use this 'ancient' tech, but there are some excellent third-party Iray shaders for skin and hair, and with a little experience of diving into Iray materials I found I could get excellent results. So I bought more content from other places.

The situation now is that I find myself using V4 and M4 a lot. With only a trivial amount of ingenuity I can move skins to G1 and G2. Likewise with clothing - a lot of it can be re-used and repurposed. I'm happy, but I'm still not buying G3.

With DAZ Sudio 4.9 I now find myself at a watershed. I have no incentive whatsoever to upgrade, and that means the new, locked content becomes inaccessible to me. That won't be an issue if current trends in content creation continue. DAZ is now (literally) forcing me to buy content elsewhere.

These are bizarre consequences. I like DAZ. I want to be a customer. But I'm no longer a customer.

My concern is that I manually install and adjust all installation directories for all my content. I find Daz's sorting unworkable at the best of times. How are directory resorts managed by Daz Connect? Is there a configuration script somewhere I need to set up? After I adjust all the directories how are future updates be handled? Does Daz Connect track and manage all that? (It would be an actual time saver if it did.)

I test install all content as well. This is because Daz frequently doesn't test the content they actually ship, and after an ardious rearrangement of directories in my live database it just gets messy.

I believe this may be discussed elsewhere but I couldn't find a thread that wasn't a complainy one and the search don't work so here I am starting a new thread. I would like an explanation of these new functions before I commit to this. How does this impact my current Daz libraries? Will I be able to have each item as a zip file in case something goes wrong (which often does). How will I be able to have a personal backup of my content? Does very old content have to be reinstalled now as Daz connect? Does Daz connect mean you have to have an internet connection to use the content or only during the install? Hopefully this will have no affect on non Daz content but what about Daz content that was gifted to you? I am very apprehensive about this new version because I have spent thousands of dollars on content and I want it all even the tiniest stone.

Just bought a bunch of stuff for about $65 and THEN saw todays's offer for three free items with purchases over $49. I applied to customer service to get it fixxed with a return/purchase so we'll see what happens, but... don't let this happen to you. :)

Yet another question about Encrypted Files

And really, for me it's the main question.

Once encrypted files have been downloaded and installed in the designated library (secondary question; can you designate a specific library?), *Can They Be Moved?*

Can you manually put them somewhere else? Will they still work? Will they effectively be decompressed and work like all the rest of your files?

I don't care if moving them breaks the links to smart content. I have never seen what is supposedly so smart about smart content. Can you still use the content if you move it?

Because I see far too many reports about glitchy path errors in products purchased not to have to ask whether the files *have* to be left wherever the packers direct them. Not to mention that I want to manually install *everything* before I use it. I don't mind it it is encrypted for the transfer from the store to me. But once I have custody of the files that I paid someone for the use of, I want to be the one in control of where they go.

Will this still be possible?

I don't want this! and I don#t buy this!!! I want download each and any item, that I have bought further through my product library. If that isn't possible, DAZ will lost me as a loyal customer. And I'm sure, I will not be the only person who will leave then.

So please make it here clear, if it was furthermore possible to download each purchased content to my harddiscs via th product liubrary.

DIM updates question

I'm planning of staying with 4.8. While installing a new purchase today via the DIM I noticed that there were a bunch of updates available with many saying 4.9+. How do you tell which if any of the updates are now encrypted? Will the DIM even try to dl and install updtes if I haven't upgraged to 4.9? I don't want to lose being able to use items that work fine now for an update that may not allow me to use the item at all.

OOT's products aren't showing at 50% off.

Adding to the 4.9 confusion

I'm not understanding this new 4.9 edition. According to my product library I've had 4.9 since Feb 2012....but my edition of Studio when opened states I have 4.8.0.59 edition, I remember downloading the Iradium upgrade to be able to use Iray. DIM does not offer me anything to upgrade to this new 4.9 that is on the shop page. New graphic design indicates a new version to me. So am I really using and have been using 4.9 since the Iradium upgrade if so, why does my Studio state 4.8,0,59 when I select "about DAZ Studio" inside the program.

To get the new 4.9, it asks me to register, wanting name and email etc, and then it kicks me out to my product page where there is nothing except my recent purchases.

DIM doesn't have anything under the Ready to Download tab to indicate a Studio upgrade. The Installed tab already has 4.9 listed in there and states it was packaged on 1-19-2016 and again, my edition of Studio says 4.8.0.59....not 4.9.

I have products under the Ready to Download tab that about 12 items are upgrades, but DIM lists Failure to Download with each item it tries to download.

Edited: I ended up having to manually download the 4.9 edition, as DIM was not going to do it. Took a while to download, probably close to 30 minutes or more and then when I installed it, it notified me that I had a previous edition and now it is in the process of updating files from 4.8 or something.

Adding zippers to the supersuit

As the title shows I have finally bought big into Genesis 3 Female with the purchase of Victoria 7 Pro Bundle.. And well who could not pass up a bargain at 87% off which is surprising as the other G3F pro bundles percentage off were a lot less I suppose due to age but who knows..

But after putting it in my cart at $17.90 and with my discount from a survey I took it came to a total of $12.90, which again is totally unexpected and hopefully correct..

Hi all, I'm currently using a GTX 780 and rendering is my secondary hobby... My main one being gaming. With the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive releasing, I think it's time to loosen my deathgrip on my wallet and upgrade my GPU. I'm looking around for cards that are a combination of good for rendering a gaming. Luckily they both are fairly similar.
