my new computer is shipped ( joy ) deciding which version of ds to put on it. 4.6 or 4.8
due the AOA advanced lights work in 4.8? the omni freaker lights?
also have a few of the omni light sets. i want all my paid for plugins to work.

My old desktop computer is showing signs of slowly failing; so, it is time to be thinking about getting a new one. The primary use would be for DAZ Studio and other computer graphis, Photoshop, and MS Office. I want a tower or minitower desktop and because of budget limitations need to keep the cost significantly under $1K. What do you think? With a budget under $1K what would be the best computer to get for using DAZ Studio with Iray?

The 70% Genesis characters discount will stack with the 80% off some Genesis characters in the "This means war" promotion.

You have to buy a new release from the "This means war" promotion but it triggers a massive 94% (or 96%) discount on some 75 Genesis items, mostly DO's but also a few PA items. Mostly characters from the various Genesis pro packs, so a lot of older hands here (including me) will have the bulk of these items. Is there a way to keep parts of two charcters together?

I am trying to create a couple two step dance poses. Once I have both character's hands together, the way I want them, is there a way to pin them together or parent one character's hand to the other so they will not separate if I make slight adjustments to one of their arms? This would be nice for the man's hand on the woman's back and her hand on his shoulder.

Eventually, I plan to use Animate2 and Keymate want to turn the poses into a dance animation so if I could keep their hands where I want while their bodies move around a little, it would be a big help.

...who's idea was it to add an zoom feature to the background images on the home page? It is really annoying and worse, if like me, you don't have a fast connection as then it does so in a very "jittery" fashion which is really bothersome to the eyes.

Bad enough there's that fast "rewind" scroll for the top banner on on the Store page which is disorienting if not almost nauseating.

DAZ has introduced a boatload of new characters recently. (Example: "Gia 7". What I would like to see on the store page is an index of JUST the DAZ characters. Not all of the clothes, hair, props, poses, and other accessories. That way we would not have to search through all of the other stuff to see if we have all of the people that we might want. Other indexes could show JUST animals, and JUST the other characters that we might want.

Currently you have to search for one product that you know already about (Victoria, Michael, etc.), click on the "Show all" button or the "Filter" button, and you still get a bunch of stuff that each character uses.

Superdress Update Live

Hi all,
Its been a long time coming, but i have finally updated the Superdress with a few bits that needed reworking,
EDIT: The Updated is Live.

*Added fully auto-conforming (version 2) dress with JCMs, so everything is rigged for auto follow including the skirt -which has 8 Joint corrective morphs that apply automatically for modest thigh movement. But you can still apply the additional skirt movement morphs to it - for the more demanding poses such as sitting etc.
(So you will now have 2 versions of the dress to choose from, as I have left the old version in with manual skirt rigging just in case some people prefer it - although in my opinion the V2 dress does everything the original dress does with less fiddeling).

*Added custom Fits (Full Body Morphs) for: Aiko6, Olympia, Belle, Lilith, MeiLin & Giselle (added to both dress versions)

*Fixed displacement issue effecting Partial Mat '00 Neck small.duf' where the parameters & map didn't match the surrounding material zones, causing a slight gap at the seam. (credit to eagle-eyed Barbult for spotting this one :) )

*Slight Improvments made the Dresses Leather Mats so they don't look as washed out/faded under bright lighting.

The superdress has been very popular, so a heart felt thank you to all those who have pruchased it :)

I already own the 'Old West' PC+ series of buildings. "Western Town" by Polish (http://www.daz3d.com/western-town) is currently on sale in Fast Grab. Is it significantly better than the 'Old West' series or otherwise worth getting also? Does anybody have any renders of it that aren't all brown like the promos?.

I am using Iray to render a scene with 4 Genesis 2 figures and it seems I do not have enough vram). Is there a way besides manually lowering the texture resolution?

Daz Studio 4.9 DB searches are painfully SLOWER than 4.8.

I don't remember the Smart Content pane being this slow in 4.8. Every time I click on a different figure or choose a different category it pauses to search. It gets irritating, since it can take up thirty seconds to find anything (even 5 items). Even general database searches suddenly slowed to a crawl, specially when the content and db reside locally in an SSD. Version 4.8's db operations were lighting fast, please bring that back.

My antivirus has exceptions to all Daz related folders and caches, I never had this issue. What am I doing wrong here?

Intel i7-3970X 3.5Ghz, Win8.1-64bit, 64Gb RAM, nVidia Titan x4, SSD.

Iray stops too early

Hello!

I have set up a simple image and rendered it in Iray. After about 5 minutes the render was finished.

But if you have a look at the image (attached below), you can clearly see that it is NOT finished yet. It is still a bit grainy and has many white spots. It definitely needs to render longer.

I have some experience with Luxrender which renders until you stop it. Can I set up Iray in a way that it behaves like Lux? So that it renders until I stop it? And not declare a render finished that is not?

Tip of the Day - Keep your old installers!

Whether you think you need to or not, you should definitely keep your old installers (especially for software, add-ons or other items that may install stuff in the Daz Directory)

Unfortunately for me, I can't use Daz 4.8 or Daz 4.9 due to my Nvidia drivers and a Daz Studio conflict, and wanted to get a copy of DAZ Decimator for 4.7 (which I purchased) which is the only version that works on my PC at this moment. Of course, we all know that you can't download old versions, so the common response is: "Contact customer support"

Well I did, and here is the reponse:

"Unfortunately we no longer support older versions of Daz studio or have old versions of plugins to use with them.

Do I believe a software company actually "throws away" old versions, deletes the source code, and no longer has them? no...

On the other hand, it's apparent, they are not going to provide them. Instead they will say, "Sorry you can't use your purchased item due to an unfortunate situation, but -> Have a good day!"

So...a Handy Tip! Keep all of your old installers!!!!

(I used to be able to use the Decimator and Daz 4.8, but the new NVidia drivers cause a blue screen when I launch Daz, and rollback causes touchscreen issues on my laptop. Hopefully a new driver update will fix the issue, but until then, I am stuck...)

I love this wolf. I bought LAMH and the Daz version first, and then when it was released, the Poser version. I really hope a German Shepherd, Great Pyeanees and Border Collie can come eventually. I think we need a new dog! I tried to make it look like a dog, which I attached. Textures are my own. :)
