I thought I might share the obvious

if you have lights on the ceiling rather than make them emitters in iray, Octane or Luxrender and presumably Cycles, why not put holes in the mesh either via geometry editing or transmaps and stick the sun above and make it big!

no fireflies!!!!!

you still get an "indoor light" look as confined to those fittings,

alternatively if not showing the ceiling at all, just hide it.

I am only posting this as some may have overlooked the obvious, we are working with filmsets/ a photography studio after all, the real thing they would add lights have cut out sets etc.

Super Stuff: Pointy Shoulder Pads?

I'm looking for super clothing with ye olde pointy shoulders. I found the old Dark Elves for David 3, but it has a high neck, so it's less than generic. I found the shoulder armor from Evenesk's Elite for V4, too, but it's obviously armor, and not part of a super suit. Besides, the more the merrier; ye olde pointy shoulders come in a variety of styles. For example, Jeff Dee loved ye olde pointy shoulders:

Magnetor (from a Dragon Magazine ad):
http://www.patric.net/images/dragon_ad_magnetor.jpg

Dreamweaver (ye old small pointy shoulders):
http://www.writeups.org/img/fiche/4594.jpg

Gauntlet:
http://tinyurl.com/h9wk9jb

Then there's always the superhero standard for pointy shoulders, Nightcrawler from Marvel Comics.

Specifically looking for stuff I can send through autofit and get to fit Genesis 3 (Generation 3, Generation 4, Genesis, Genesis 2, etc.). Free or paid is fine.

ETA: oh, and a question: is there any way to make pointy shoulder pads not bend when the arms of the figure they're conformed to are bent?

These things are amazingly crafted. There is so much detail I can do a full-screen render and still miss half of it! Kool put a supernatural amount of effort into making these, and they look superb. For the price, Kool could've just left it there, but went the extra mile with extra textures and some grade A iray materials.

These things are a work of art, and it almost seems a shame to waste them on distance shots! Excellent work, Kool. I can tell I'll have to keep an eye out for your next work!

Hi Daz,

Its getting more and more difficult to keep track of all of my products. With all of our RDNA stuff merging, its just going to compound the problem. If we could have a way to customize our product libraries by creating our own custom categories it would make product searches so much easier than it is now. If we could even just have the ability to view according to product type that would be nice. For example, Hair products, Props, Figure, etc.

Please consider this Daz. Ive only been here for a few years but I now have many, many pages in my library. I cant imagine how large the product libraries are for some of the long time users.

Jesse for Genesis 3 Male adds a shorter stature male to the Genesis 3 gene pool. All morphs are custom and only require the Genesis 3 male and serves as an entry point to using Genesis 3.

The base product includes four custom head morphs and one body shape with an additive muscular shape, with a HD morph for the base shape to add extra details. Each head morph has been sculpted in Zbrush and includes correctives for eye closes. The body shapes include over 50 additional JCMs for improved bending and muscle flexes and can be mixed in with other morphs from the Genesis 3 Male gene pool.

Jesse also includes a HD foot morph and two custom ear morphs, as well as a dial to adjust the angle of the ear as well as hip adjustments when posing.

Jesse loads a shorter character for the Genesis 3 gene pool, but includes an adjustment to scale the height closer to Michael 7. Also adjustment morphs are included to use head morphs for Michael 7 and Leo 7 with Jesse's body shapes.

Jesse also include various HD morphs and adjustments for anatomical detail for your renders.

More renders of Jesse's product features can be found at DeviantArt:

I really wish that ZBrush coders would make this easier like a drag and drop sort of thing. Be easier and more elegant than all this confusing trouble.

Hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong here. I am working on a character that I've done extensive sculpting on the G2F base figure in Hexagon. One of the mods was to shorten the figure and make heer more compact. So, after bringing it back into Daz as a full body morph, and trying to pose it, it went all silly putty. Poking around, I found that the bones were not in place, and I spent some time moving them back into the relative positions and resizing them a bit to fit.

So, now posing works pretty much as it should, but I am getting deformed areas at the elbows and knees, and a bit at the underarm. I'm attaching a screen cap. Can someone clue me in on how to repair this?

I am slowly learning Blender. I eventually want to have go at making a couple of products to put on the market and yes I know it's not easy and takes time to get good. What would generally be the requirements to make a scene or an outfit etc that could have some potential selling on the Daz3D product market eventually? what would be the difference from a basic product that won't sell which is created from Blender and one that is a quality product that could have some potential created from Blender? what are the main things to focus on in order to get a good level of quality in something in Blender. (or probably in all modelling programs)

I am trying to find out the all round general quality requirements for making something that could be a quality product to sell eventually from using Blender.

If anyone uses Blender to create products do you think I could talk to you one on one? thx.

Since this always gets mentioned (a lot of the time by me) in various character threads, I figured it'd probably be better to make a completely separate thread.

Generally it happens with characters that follow the pattern of having every image is the character rendered in the same stylised lighting, with no neutral render, no base material render, no alternate render engines: no display of what you're buying actually looks like. This especially happens with new Originals characters and their bundles, which is why the complaints are mostly in those threads.

This is not saying the work is bad or the product isn't worth it, or anything like that: on the contrary, there have been many characters people complained about the store images of, then saw customer renders in more neutral settings that immediately made them want to buy it too. It's also clear that a certain stylised uh style is preferred / seen as the best way to attract customers. This is fine too! There are also many non-bundle PA characters that do a fantastic job of showing all of the various makeup/skin options that come with the character (generally in small boxes over a few of the latter images.)

When people on here say the promos suck, generally the impression I get - and my own complaint - is that what's actually meant is that the promos don't give the information the artist requires to make a purchase. Stylised sellers are great, but it's not like there is only one promo image. It would be great if we could have a few stylised renders, some showing the various options, and then a neutral image (clothing/scenes usually then have a 'clay' render at the end already, which is perfect as is.)

Look at this:

http://www.daz3d.com/collective3d-portrait-vignettes-horror-1

The first three are stylised renders to grab customer attention, then a neutral render of the scene, then two 'clay' (or whatever you call them) renders showing exactly what geometry is included.

It's so perfect. If it wasn't free I'd buy it just because the promos are so great.

* Obviously this is only my opinion and your opinion may differ. That's not a bad thing.
* Also obviously there are many fantastic promo sets for products in the store already. But the new Originals characters always seem to attract the same requests outlined above.

Hello, forum folk. I'm a long time Blender user just now picking up Daz. I have a question for all the toon/stylized character modelers out there: Do you find yourself using Genesis 1, 2, or 3 as the base for your characters? From the looks of it 1 looks like the best bet from just some cursory explanations, but this is partly because I haven't bought any extra morphs for 3 and so only have the Evolution set for 1. I'm interested to know how, or even if, people use the three Genisisesesis or pick one and stick them. They all look like they'd be good in different situations. Any advice on this to a new user not used to working with pre-made content would be much appreciated.

So, after having been off adventuring in the world of the Corporateverse for a few years, things started shifting in the overall Multiverse which led me back to the Dazverse via a rather twisty and intricate rabbit hole. Oh, I still work full time for an ever-expaning international skin cream company, which would not even function without me, but due to various folds in space that I managed to squeeze through with ferret-like tenacity, I have managed to get my digital art production rolling again.

Upon closer inspection, I realized there were three generations of Genesis now. Well well cow bell, looks like Rip Van Winkel awakes to the future!

Thus, now that I realize how much of a fanbase Genesis 2 has gathered, and the fact that Genesis 3 is Daz's new baby, I decided to completely redo my original best-seller, Explosive Poses for Genesis, and bring it to a whole new level with Genesis 2 and 3, male and female.

Something tells me that supporting Genesis 2 as well as 3 with my new releases might help expand the usefulness of my pose sets. It may add a bit of time to the production portion of the evolution, but I think you will agree it is worth it.

So without further ado, here is my newest release: Explosive Poses for Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 Male(s) and Female(s)!!!!
