From the promo it seems to be for an outfit with a helmet and some sort of wings but I can't find an outfit in the store that looks like it. The Space Star promo looks nice but what outfit would I need to use it?

There are commercial companies offering 3-D printed models, but I don't know what to send them. The problem with the Daz system was the importation from outside the EU, which resulted in hefty taxes and taxes on those taxes.....

Before i cave and go and spend money - that i should be saving - on seriously beefing up my machine, does anyone have any gossip on Iray development? I would imagine they are trying to develop an out-of-core solution similar to that of Octane to get around the VRAM limitations of young GPU based engines - would love to know if that is in the pipeline before i go and spend money. Other option is to go back to using Octane again, but i find the Iray integration to be too convenient to abandon.

maclean does it again with Everyday Party Decorations -- and by "it" I mean putting out a well made product of great usefulness that fills a niche that no one else seems to have addressed so far.. All sorts of streamers, swags, bunting, pennants, balloons, and bubbles stock this magnificent [and affordable] package.

And did I mention that a lot of them morph? The bubbles change shape. You can lengthen your streamers and make them sway. You can control the thickness of the bunting. And there are 3DL and Iray materials.

Though there are some pieces specific for birthdays or Christmas, most of these can be used for any occasion: dance parties, proms, tailgate parties, graduations, all sorts of celebrations.

And now, with the March Madness discount, Everyday Party Decorations is just $8.97, which makes this large bundle a great deal. Cheaper than buying from your local party supply store...

I think I'm going to add some "on the floor in a pile" morphs to the streamers and post them this weekend...

--MW

P.S. This isn't a paid endorsement or anything; this is just the entusiastic response of a happy buyer!

Sales during timezone DST changes

I bring up this discussion because I was caught unawares of the recent summer DST changes. Had Daz customers been limited to their local time zone it would not affect so many of us. Instead many of us folks are international customers who do not regularly keep a tab on what timezone (MST or MDT) Daz is following. So here's my suggestion, if it has not already been brought up:

1) Announce the sales end time in UTC (there's a reason UTC exists) instead of MST/MDT. Let people from different geographies interprete it based on their current local timezone or local DST settings. OR

2) Implement a simple javascript countdown timer on the sales page which displays how much time is left before the sale ends irrespective of timezones or DST settings (Ever been to Steampowered.com during holidays?). OR

3) Allow users to specify their timezones in their user account section. Then use this information to transparently convert and display the time across the website based on the users local timezone This approach is used by most bulletin boards. OR

4) Assuming most DST changes are effective by an hour at max, silently accomodate an additional hour before closing the previous days sales. This may be followed for a week to "acclamatize" non MST/MDT users about the DST changes in place. This may be the least acceptable option ... just for the sake of consideration.

In any case, please bear in mind that there could be several international customers who do not have DST settings in their countries so it is natural for them to be taken by surprise when a DST change is implemented silently in the background.

As an artist, and I use that term loosely with regards to myself, I love reading comments in the gallery on my images. While I have left a lot of simple 'Thank you" comments back to commenters, there are lots of times I take the time to respond back to complicated, in depth, or really expressive comments that have been left on my gallery pics. I'm just wondering this....

You find a gallery pic that really moves you, irritates you, makes you feel something and you leave a complicated or longish comment on the artist's image page. Do you ever go back to see if the artist responded back to your comment? Do you never visit that image again? Or something somewhere in between?

Just wondering what others do... Me? I go back and look if it was an image that really moved me or I left a longer than usual comment. I've even found a time or two when the artist did indeed respond back to my comment.

Well, once agan DAZ has seen fit to change the final price. This time with the Genesis sale. Genesis sale items that were in my cart (along with the DMB) suddenly went from about $2.50 to over $7.00 I suppose this is another "error" correction; but it is very frustrating and seems to keep happening. Once again I'm cancelling my planned purchase.

Here’s what the Recommended update looks like, according to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley: First, users will receive a notification saying their PCs are scheduled to receive Windows 10 in the next three or four days. Users can click a small link to cancel or postpone the update, but simply closing the window will cause the notification to appear again one hour before the scheduled update time. If users don’t cancel or postpone within that timeframe, the update will begin automatically.

For the last couple of update cycles, MS has unhidden and tried to trick me into installing a KB I've rejected several times in the past. If you have KB3035583 installed, uninstall it.

These are the three main ones you don't want if you don't want an auto update: KB3035583 KB2952664 KB3021917

I also identified and hid KB3123862 and KB3135445 and KB 3118401. I don't have time right now to revisit them to see exactly what they were for. I think one was an actual update to Windows update others were some support for upgrading.

You can enter each KB into google if you want to know what each is about.

MS may be trying to auto update these along with win 10. I don't know. I haven't received the popup (yet). All I know for sure is that WinUpd tried to get me to install KB3035583 again.

I often experiment, putting one body preset under a mat belonging to another character. After some work I generally get good results.

However, using the Michael 7 & Leo 7 mats I have noticed something that I have not been aware of before. I put the Aiden G3M body preset under the Leo 7 mat and found that the generally smooth Aiden body now appeared very much more chiseled/angular/lacking smoothness, however you wish to describe it. It doesn't work at all. The same is true of the Michael 7 mats.

It seems to me that the Michael & Leo 7 mat will only work with body shapes similar to the original.

In my opinion this rather limits the usefulness of these mats.

When I make, say, a small image larger, I can somewhat help the pixelation by applying Gaussian Blur. Not ideal, but it can help minimize jaggies.

Is there something similar when going from one color depth to another, like 8 bit to 32 bit color? I would imagine the tone map is basically pixelated. In a sense.
