Hi,

I seem to have hit a snag... I create a flight pose and do what I think is the right thing to save out the pose in DAZ Studio:

Check rotations only option

Uncheck General and Actor

Check off what I need under the General under Hip under the Translation, Rotation or Scale categories lists.....

But when I go to apply the next pose, say it's a standing pose, the pose is applied but the figure is squewed off to it's side a bit rather than both feet on the ground.

Any help here understanding what I should or should not be doing for the flight pose would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Does anybody have the Xanadu hair and the Color Therapy hair shader? I wanted to get this from RDNA but it was a little to expensive so I was so glad to see it here and for a steal. Anyway, I tried it today and the hair is actually 2 parts: the hair and the scalp. But the shader only seems to work on the hair, not the scalp. I tried everything then ended up matching the hair shade to one from OOT iray hair shader, applied it to the scalp and it worked fine. But maybe I'm doing something wrong

As a paying customer of daz products, I am curious. Curious as to why they chose to just up and stop supporting programs or parts of programs they own? You have Hexagon, Bryce and Carrara that have not seen updates in some time as well as their new figures not working natively in most of them. Power Pose for Studio hasn’t been updated since the introduction of Genesis and has been left to users of Studio to bring it up to date to work with Genesis, Genesis 2 and to some extent with Genesis 3.

Now since the introduction of Iray, and although they say they are still supporting 3Dlite, we are seeing more and more products that only have native Iray shaders only. There are many of us who are not interested in photo-realistic rendering and as one of those artists, I would like to know why you (daz) are choosing to abandon 3DLite? Please do not give me that line that it's not being abandoned. Daz chose to bring out Studio with 2 separate render engines that require 2 different kinds of shaders, They then turn around and don’t require PA’s to support both render engines. It wasn’t that long ago that Daz required PA’s to have seperate settings for thier products to work natively in both Poser and Studio to sell here. Why are they not requiring the same for both render engines, one of which that they have used since the beginning?

Now I understand the flood of shaders that are set up for Iray only, it is a new render engine and the market is wide open for that. Some of the artists that create sets and clothing are really outstanding with offering support with both Iray and 3DLite, while others have dropped 3DLite support and offer items in Iray only. When I buy a set I look to make sure that it has 3DLite shaders among other things (Not going to get into other issues here) and there have been a lot of missed sales to these vendors because there is no 3DLite support. Now if I am the only one that feels this way, I guess my money doesn’t carry much weight, but if there are others like myself that feel this way, now is the chance to speak up and be heard in hopes that we can get the PA’s to continue to offer support for both render engines supported by daz.

Ok... so, a friend was trying to toss their keys up to someone on the balcony of their three story apartment building. After several tosses and misses, the keys wound up on the roof of the building. After much puzzlement, it was decided the best thing to do was call the local Fire Department for help. The response from the Fire Dept? "We don't do stuff like that." So my friend says, "You guys mean to tell me that you'll come out for a cat stuck in a tree, but not for this?" Response from Fire Department was "We don't do that either."

Now, personally, I thought they would come out for such a thing as long as the whole town wasn't burning down, and then send a bill later for the service. Just wondering what some other folks think?

I've got an iray render that is taking an awful long time, which is unusual for what it is, and I've not experienced before.

I'm wondering if it's the hair.

I'm trying to do a rendering with a skull hidding beneath table cloth. The d-former is easy to set up but the bump on the cloth, no matter how I adjust it, seems just...wrong. It looks just unfocused, shallow and insignificant, without converying the message of something terrible is underneath. It's probably a problem of a mix of light/shaders/saturation/etc. (Currently I'm using UberEn, a front light and a back light. )

I'm eager to know how you can make things like bumps, dimples, crevices and such more prominent. Here aretwo quick renders of the cloth. Not high quality but hopefully it can show what I'm trying to say. Thanks in advance!

Has anybody experimented with taking an existing rock/stone model and trying to add an additional level of detail in the form of cracks and crevices using a hand-painted displacement map or other method that doesn't involve actually modeling? I'm wondering how difficult it would be. I'm guessing it would require some extreme effort to make it look good, however in case somebody has tried and has found some shortcuts (maybe a premade material or brush, or some clever trick I haven't thought of.)

Someday I'd like to get some really nice layered rocks, and while I have seen several products available, none quite have the look I see in my head. Here's some randomly googled photos (which also don't match my vision, but at least they provide the general idea.) I've been eyeballing the new "Nature - Canyon" product ( http://www.daz3d.com/nature-canyon ), and although this is intended to be a much smoother stone without cracks and crevices between layers, I've been wondering how hard it might be to modify it by painting grooves on it while still making them blend realistically with the original model. Probably the wrong approach for me to take, but a possible idea to consider.

I'm wondering if the G3M facial mesh is not dense enough to give us the kind of character range that we get from M4, because other than Michael 7, the G3 males are facially (and texturally) more like video game characters than art models. Even the powerful Raiya seems to be struggling to bring her usual distinctiveness to these smooth faces.

It appears to me that Daz has chosen to bridge their art hobbyist line towards Morph3D; thus, the only cynically feasible usage for males is as video game characters. This may be why Leo 7 and Gianni 7 look like low poly, baked-on vanilla-types (at least stereotypes would be clearly one generic personality or another). Of course, (from this same cynical perspective) females must retain more realism because they are primarily pin-up models (although there are fewer than five vendors that repeatedly break the V7 clone mold or the same face again syndrome).
However, if the males were of better quality, they would probably sell more. (I'm buying them just hoping someone with excellent Zbrush skills like StudioArtVartanian or JoeQuick will take up the mantle and attempt to craft us some men with gravitas and je ne sais quoi.) So, we get a self-defeating cycle where the sales numbers repeatedly confirm the false conclusion that Daz has drawn: Males cannot sell. And the storytelling, non-pin-up segment of the market purchases even less, as Daz sells even less, discouraging enterprising vendors.

Finally, in all these years, no one has made a men's business suit with conventional tie that looks realistic when posed. I own all the men's business suits and elements that are on the market, and there is nothing that is really convincing other than a straight standing pose (and some of them cannot even manage that). Either the jacket is pasted to the figure or it balloons in the most unnatural places. In fact, I am yet to see a fully knotted (and tightly collared) tie that is convincing, (although https://www.daz3d.com/h-c-business-suit-a-for-genesis-3-male-s does a better job with the tie and collar than any I have seen before). But this jacket doesn't have an open morph! Why? This same vendor solved the opened/closed problem in his previous http://www.daz3d.com/h-c-coat-outfit-a-for-genesis-3-male-s by making two separate geometries. That would have worked here.

Beowulf and Marquis did a decent job for their time. Eldritch Seeker raised the bar (as Luthbel always does) but completely and cleverly avoided the tie and jacket conundrum. IH Kang/kang1hyun has done an immeasurable service to the Daz habadashery, but we need more textures to increase the usability. Either the men's business suit should only be done as a dynamic fabric or male items do not make enough money for someone to really spend the time to solve the problem of a realistic conform. Being largely ignorant of the technical issues, I do not know which it is. Evidently, it is not a simple thing.

To digress, Mei Lin 7 Pro Bundle clothing items are ALL period fantasy pieces?

Friends and Daz3D.

Were there any update on Hexagon, which was distributed by download, for the PA and this update is not yet incorporated into the program ??

My Hexagon closes always with problems. Today then my computer is 64-bit and am using windows 10. Everything goes defect. There is no more symmetry, it is lost. And so on goes with everything, always loses everything _ Windows has detected an error in the Hexagon, the program will be closed _ Okay, even all saved, no longer how to work it. The paintbrushes Smoothing, or displacement, no longer work, close the program. It is days lost good job.

Hexagon is a fantastic program, fast to model, to make morphs, it is very important for those who work with him, and deeply know. The bridge to this is one of the smartest and legal tools I've seen on the market without errors and defects and all fast, automatic. No one needs to be the genius of mathematics, physics, with absurd calculations Morph Loader Pro.

What happens to Daz3D ??? Because until now there has Hexagon version on 64-bit? Why has not improved the brushes, important parts for modeling.

Not everyone can invest many dollars in super expensive programs, such as ZBrush, Cinema 4D, Maya, 3DsMax, and many turned fever, 3D hundreds programs releases.

Hexagon ever is the right arm of Daz Studio. You have to believe, many people use or used. If you Daz3, abandoned Hexagon, please. Take the product sale and return our money invested.

I'm very upset. Now with a new PC, powerful enough to create again. I have to dedicate myself to learn to use another modeler software for a year or more studies?

Daz3D, prey for teaching and for giving us all the support, but how will the speed launches and new technology, Very-very fast - one thing is certain production will fall, and Nobody learns, in one day or overnight.

Hugs.

Using Easy Environments in Reality -- is it possible?

Hi, fellas. Recently got Flipmode's Easy Environments ~ Top of the World. Gorgeous set; just loved it. A problem, though: the skybox with its panoramic mountain scenes just won't show up when I try using Reality to render scenes created with this set. Tried all sorts of tricks. No luck.

Now what I've learned is that Reality does use something called IBL (Image Based Lighting), where photo images of real places are put together seamlessly -- just like the images comprising the skyboxes in the 'Easy Environments' series -- into ready-to-use stage sets which furthermore illuminate your scene with light generated from the images so that it really feels as if the scene is 'there'. Thus an IBL set showing a sunset will light up your scene with a ruddy red-orange tint.

My question here is: could you use the images comprising an 'Easy Environment' skybox -- the six images that form the Top, Bottom, North, East, South and West -- to create an IBL set for use in Reality? If so, how? Does Reality itself already provide the means for doing so? If not, what software or plugin do you use? How do you use it? (I checked out the appropriate sections of the HDR Labs website which is supposed to be the HQ of the whole IBL thing, but couldn't figure out much.) Or maybe you don't need this whole IBL thing at all to use the 'Easy Environments' in Reality? If so, again, how?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm an experienced Poser user and new to Daz Studio. After many experiments, this is my render of The Girl 7, using Iray and three point lights. The shadows are way too heavy especially in the folds and crevices. Is there a way to turn the shadows down?

I guess I'm suffering a lot of confusion about the lights and render settings in Daz.

This render took an hour, which is way too long for me. But I've decided that I want to learn Daz Studio, because I love this character so much. So I study tutorials each day.

I realize that I need a better graphics card as I have a 2 GB Nvidia GT 630, which isn't powerful enough. Any suggestions about a graphics card? I can't afford an ultra expensive one. My son told me that I'd have to either replace the one I have or get another just like it as they can't be mixed and matched.
