If I load Genesis 2 to my scene and apply a texture, and then add the gens and copy the hip texture to hips of the gens, is there a way to save out the texture so just the part of the torso that has been applied to the hips of the gens is saved?

I have tried the skin transfer utility, but nothing seems to happen. (When I copy the hip texture from the figure to the gens, the gens automatically get mapped as M4. I suppose that happens because I have that product by Slosh. (Hope I have his name right.) If I swtich it back to anything else, it won't be mapped correctly). But like I said, if I then try to transfer the skin with the Skin transfer utility, nothing happens. If I select the hips that are part of the body, then it saves some textures that just the hip part of the torso. But if I select the gen hips or the gens, nothing gets written and there is no error generated.

Or is it possible to do this with UV Mapper Pro, or 3D coat or Blacksmith or some other program?

I also thought of the Shader baker. I was going to try it. But I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I click to enter a folder to save to, but every time I enter one, nothing gets entered into the box for it. And since I didn't know where it was going to save the texture, I didn't want to try it and maybe over right my original textures.

I can use the textures the way they are, but it would be nicer and easier if you could just save out the part that is being used by the figure.

Thanks.

Is there an easy way to compare a list of shader parameters on one part of a figure with another to find out what is different?

I was rendering a figure yesterday and I noticed his hand looked like they were in shadows. But it wasn't a natural shadow. The shadow covered all the hands and fingers but ended sharply at the hips. It was a transparent "shadow" because I could still see the detail on the skin.

All I did was load the figure with his texture and then I selected the figure on everything in the shader panel that applied to him and then applied the !IrayUberSurface, so I don't understand why the hands aren't the same as the figure. But I figure that something must be different between the hands and the rest of the body.

So I was wondering if anyone has a better way of comparing two shaders. I have gone and written down all the parameters and then gone through and tried compairing them. But even that is all that easy because the list from one part to another is "sorted" differently.

Nor even breathing normally when at rest. There's agitated breathing, there's tired. there's deep breathing. None normal breathing or walking breathing for females.

And again I'm looking for looping sounds. Not sounds that gradually get louder then fade.

Same for high heels. There's like one good looping one in pond5, except it's steps on wood, not sound very good. i like more on steps of floor or cement.

however I'm unable to use a silhouette taken from the "Full" image and use it as a clipping mask in order to separate the shadows from the main characters/objects from the "Shadow" layer .....have tried several ways of doing this to no avail...heres how a few guys have described what I'm trying to do although Photoshop is mentioned where as I'm using the free GIMP.

"Bring the silhouettes into photoshop (DS always leaves a white fringe around the edge of transparency), remove white matting under layer>matting, then use the silhouettes as a clipping mask on the shadow layer to allow the figures in the bottom layer to show through."

"Use the alpha map (inverted) from the first image on the second image to isolate the shadows.
Copy and paste shadows onto first image, with blend mode to 'multiply'. "

hoping someone will put me out of my torment and show me how this is done...lol

After a week off I'm back to the content library reorg. I've hit the Costume runtimes. The commercial products haven't given me a lot of grief so far, but I've hit a freebie which I am not sure what I'm supposed to do with it. I collected it some years ago, but I'll admit that I've never used it. I'd have run into the problem much earlier if I had tried to.

It's an outfit for A3 and it's by an artist called Eldrich. It's called something like Renaissance Baroness for Aiko3. There were a swarm of add-on texture sets from 3rd-parties.

I've got what appear to be the original the files. It includes the .obj files. It also includes a swarm of character morph files for A3 and the texture files for the character. There are no textures for the outfit in the package. Thaose were all add-ons.

There are also no .cr2 files for the outfit. All of the add-ons are .pz2 files.

So how was one supposed to load the outfit onto the character? There are promo renders, so it must be possible. Was this some arcane process that was common before I wandered into this hobby back in 2009? Most of these files date from somewhere areound 2005 or 2006.

What am I missing?

At least I hope it's only the first step - as what Daz needs even more urgent is a translation engine for the Daz Studio program itself.

No matter, going multilingual is the right way if you want to expand the customer base in a limited or specialized market. If you want to grow worldwide and not only in native english speaking markets, you have to make sure the people there understand you and that english isn't a barrier for them. The problem is not with the younger generation, it's with the older ones not being safe with english - and that's where the money sits. Can only speak for Germany, but I doubt that is very different in other countries.

Yes, it's only a very basic, sometimes stupid and sometimes funny, automatic translation made by some computer program, that needs to be improved a lot. Still I hope this is not only a test but the future, e.g.

http://de.daz3d.com

http://fr.daz3d.com

http://es.daz3d.com

A good translation might soon pay for itself. And that's not only good for Daz, but any PA as well.

Go Daz !

PS: Or did I only miss that and it has been there for some time already ? Ugh ;)

The store page is a bit of a mess, too. I know it's a freebie, but it should at least have a properly set up store page, with actual descriptions and compatibilities. This looks like it was just copied and pasted from the RDNA store.

Is there one? There used to be, but I am pretty sure it stopped working with SnowLeopard.

In any case, the copy with the name; RTEncoderPy-10.6 will not run in ElCapitan.

In any case, I've got a copy of Arien's Sylvan Jewels for Fabiana's Elven Soul. It was purchased here at DAZ (Arien's add-on, that is), and I am pretty sure that I had a decoded copy at one point, but it's disappeared, and I only have the original file, complete with the Bitrock installer (which I was surprised, but relieved ,to see would run). Is this something that I ought to contact Support with. I seem to have purchased it a loooong time ago.

How do you guys organize your files? I seriously need help. I've only been using Daz Studio for about 2 months but have found a TON of freebies in that time. However, the vast majority of them are Poser files and they really are ALL OVER THE PLACE. Like when I open "Poser Formats" it literally opens up 100+ files and half those have files under them as well. The VAST majorty of what I have doesn't show up under "smart content". There is a lot of great content, but I have trouble finding anything. Clothes are mixed with props, are mixed with lights, are mixed with characters, are mixed with textures, are mixed with morphs, are mixed with poses, are mixed with hair, etc etc.

I know that's kind of my fault for going "freebie crazy" and collecting a ton of freebies (but as someone with a very limited budget I find that freebies are mainly what I'm going to be using, as I can't really afford to buy much at all through the Daz Store).

This is just part of it. And under those files are more files. And under those some of them have more... Yeah. How can one organize this mess? What tips can you all give me on helping me get these files where I can find stuff? What kind of filing sytem works for you guys? Are there any tutorials on how to organize files/content in Daz Studio? ANY help you guys can give me would be much appreciated.

~Sincerely,

Has anyone ever seen morphs for the Three Stooges characters? The figure type isn't that important, really. I could use just about any figure.

And before someone suggests it... No. I am not going to make them myself. I'm not interested in that type of modeling.

I've found a variety of M3 head morphs that include Harpo Marx, and I could be just as happy using the Marx Brothers, instead. As I said, I just think it could add a little humor to something I'm working on.
