I did the product as a PA, because it wasn't going to exist otherwise. I hope I did what is ultimately felt to be a better version of those elements, UV's which perform better for detail position and sizing, a clone which performs better, and a character shape which is a little more accurate than it's 5th generation equivalent. I also attempted to price it reasonably; which right now is about 10$ when factoring in the intro discount.

For example, look at this case of the A4 School Girl shoes converted by both; and I'm showing the actual mesh here with no smoothing modifier to hide anything.

What's good about this being a PA product?

Updates. If there is a problem I will fix it. Someone posted that they saw an issue with nipple alignment, it was slight but I agreed, fixed it immediately, and the update is already at DAZ. If there are problems, and I know about them, they will be fixed if it's within my power to do so, and you as the customer get an update.

Why do the old MATs not work?

This has been explained in more detail in other places, but the short of it is this; old presets don't support applying to the new Genesis 2 Female material setup. The solution is a workaround of applying the textures to Victoria 4, and then saving out a new Material Preset, specifically in DUF format, to apply later to your Genesis 2 Female characters. When you apply the preset, you then simply have to switch all materials to use the Victoria 4 UV set under Surfaces. note: I say to save from Victoria 4 herself, because she has the material for the eye reflections to carry over, and Genesis 1 does not. In all other respects however, saving the preset from Genesis 1 would work as well

Making that new preset only has to be done once. Again, this is something that was out of my control. If I could have the existing presets work I would. However, there have also been shader advances since many of these presets were made. For example; in the ad images for G2FV4C, when saving presets for the Lana and Maya textures to render with, I added the SSS base and effect to them. So making yourself new presets, is not always a bad thing.

I was hoping that Toonimal Kitty would've been in the sale, but it isn't. Although the texture expansions (Toonimal Cat) are. 

I'm sure Daz have their reasons as to why it's not included in the sale. So, I'll add it to my wishlist and save it for another time.

Note: the content is still there.  I can with much trouble find the products via the smart content tab and use it that way, but I'm not a big fan of the smart content compared with the way I had categorized them myself.  Any ideas?

To that end, there are a couple sites which I think some might find helpful, one is Creative Live, which sells training but also has regular free training, the same training they sell (timing is everything here.) They also have a newsletter which includes useful tips, like this one on posing which covers concepts such as negative space, foreshortening, etc...

Another is PHlearn which covers mostly photoshop effects (i.e. compositing) but does so well. They also have some lighting, composition and other related topics which are useful for 3D artists.

Adorama has videos on hardware, which may seem to have no relationship to 3D but as we move more into PBR environments we see more crossover for physical camera aspects and videos at these sites can often have the most concise and to-the-point tutorials for these as well as lighting, compositing, etc...

If you have a favorite site that 3D artists would find useful, post them along with what makes them particularly interesting.

However I wonder if with the advent of Morph3D as well as a few other advantages, if Genesis 2 will maintain its place in the game development community.

Sadly, since an ultra hight level new machine is not in my budget, I'm being forced back to using 3Delight only.

Just a casual warning.  If some new IRay scene catches your eye - the kind that looks too gorgeous to believe - be wary.  Likely you need a workstation grade machine to render it.  And Daz does't give refunds (not to my knowledge anyway).

I've got a bunch of items sitting in my cart that I want to buy so I can watch the prices and see what happens come payday (Which is next Friday) and what do I see? The Aiko 6 Pro bundle in my cart currently for $32! and me with an empty bank account for another week :(

Do those discounts get higger if I am PC+?! I am considering getting PC+ also, BUT I will still need to work for that lol... And I will only be able to do it after july...

It must be a bug with Studio because it works fine in Poser. I've had a look at it and I can't find a reason why it wouldn't work in Studio.

Which is no help at all really, but I should warn you although the screenshot is well-within the realm of common-decency, the actual prop is likely some kind of adult toy, which all of their "Pandora Box" props have been in the past. So if you go downloading and testing, be prepared.

So a couple of months ago I stated a project (along with some discussions on the forums here) on dealing with how we could make photorealistic garments from an image of a fabric taken by photograph. This is using  MD - DAZ workflow. 

Here's the latest update and I would appreciate all comments necessary. 

Some issues on the top of my head are:

1.  The shadowing doesn't look realistic enough. I am using the basic options in DAZ for Shadowing and Lighting (Sun-Sky Mode) 
2. The garment drapes well, but doesn't feel like the actual fabric when draped. It is actually a chiffon dress but in this picture it feels a bit too stiff to be a chiffon dress. I do not have any pictures for reference but i am sure one can imagine what a chiffon dress looks like in this style. 

I am not sure if the fabric properties in MD translate well into DAZ, or whether they even translate well in MD itself vs. real life.

So if anyone has any feedback or suggestions please do share, i would really appreciate it.

I am rendering with 3Delight only, either in DAZ Studio or the standalone version. And I am always looking for the best lights tu use in my scenes. Recently I have worked a lot with uberLights (UberArea, UE2, UberSpot). Now I have discovered the AoA Advanced Lights for DAZ Studio - http://www.daz3d.com/advanced-daz-studio-light-bundle

My question is:
How do these lights work, compared to the uber lights?
I have seen that there are some cheats for faster rendering times, but this is really not important to me. All I need is functionality, useability and of course quality.

Would you recommend these Advanced Lights to someone who is used to work with uber lights?

Any suggestions and opinions would be very helpful. Thanks!

OK, bought this after watching the video included in the promo.

I was going to make my own, but the amount of time it would have taken me to get something suitable, and then there was all the extras. Very impressive.

Not only that, but the video talls me what I can do.

... It is also a great marketing too.

M3D Hero returns and add an improved heroic-style male shape and head morphs to the Genesis 3 Male gene pool. This is an additive shape to Michael 7. All morphs are custom and only require the Michael 7 base.

The base product includes four custom asymmetrical head morphs and one body shape with an additive muscular shape, with a HD morph for the base shape to add extra details. This custom shape can be loaded as a scaled character preset or as a base shape only. Each head morph has been sculpted in Zbrush and includes correctives for eye closes. The body shapes include over 50 additional JCMs for improved bending and muscle flexes and can be mixed in with other morphs from the Genesis 3 Male gene pool.

Separate head, torso and leg vein HD morphs are included and can be dialed in at various strengths. Also a hip spandex morph has been added to help with shrinkwrap on the glutes when using bodysuits or autofitted clothing.

M3D Hero also include various HD morphs and adjustments for anatomical detail for your renders.

I was just wondering if in general, most hair and clothing for G2F will fit Keiko 6? According to the description I'd almost think so, but her body style has me wondering.
