Spotlight casting shadow of itself

I've not noticed this before but lately I've been seeing in test renders a shadow of a ball. It didn't take long to figure out it was coming from the Spotlight. What would cause this?
I have a distant light that is pointing in the direction of the spotlight and I understand thats what is causing the shadow, but I never thought the geometry of a light, in this case a spotlight, was supposed to produce a visible shadow of itself. See attachment. It seems to be the ball that the arrow is pointing at that is casting the shadow.

TerraDome3 Update Live (Commercial)

Hi everyone, just a quick note that there is an update live for TD3 in the DIM.

The change was a restructure of the core terrain shader to make it work better with newer versions of Iray, and it streamline it further. We thank Chris & Rob greatly for this, it will make things alot easier to work with as we go on to new versions of iray in the future, and will make the base shader able to have more things crammed into it, LOL.

We have noticed a VERY nice render speed increase in the new shader base, and no other files need to be updated, etc.

So if you have a duf saved and want to re-render it.... nothing needs to be updated - it's all done through the core shader. (DAMN I LOVE DAZ STUDIO!)

Anyways, thank you for the incredible support of TD3, we have loads of awesome in the works, including a scheme involving freebie "Booster Packs"

Changing purchased item names

Is there any way to change the content library name for a purchased item? 3rd Party things I can just click 'rename' but the option isn't there on things that I got through DIM.

It's frustrating when all the sets are named !Preload_Interior or something like that.

I was browsing Luthbels store and was looking at the Jack of Hearts textures. I purchased the Jack of Hearts outfit a couple of weeks ago, however, its does not show purchased when I am in her shop nor does it show the (owned) in the text for the required products.

Fantasy dynamic robe problem (Solved)

I purchased this product http://www.daz3d.com/dynamic-fantasy-robe but I am having problems getting it to work.

The robe does not load, only the rig does. I have tried using any material or preset I found in the folder without luck.

I am using DS 4.9.2 on Windows(64bit).

Have anyone got it to work in recent versions of Daz Studio or is it just too old?

DIM partial customization? - SOLVED

I bought several tutorials that are video format. They will take up a lot of space so I don't want them on the same drive as my other Daz3d purchased content. Is there a way to direct DIM to put one category of content on a separate drive? This not for a separate program like Bryce that can be directed to another location. Or, should I download the tutorials manually to do that?

Need help locating clothing item

I need a bit of help locating a clothing item that I saw on DAZ a while back but forgot to put it on my wish list. It's a t-shirt or tank top of some sort, and one of the promos features the text "Not everything in Florida is flat" with a picture of Florida state on the shirt. I had a good laugh from that -- I've actually seen shirts like that in real life! -- but now I can't find the item in question anywhere :( I've looked all night to no avail. Any help, please? :) Thank you in advance!

(And yes, I tend to buy funny or tongue-in-cheek items whenever I get the chance :) )

Hi folks!

I know it's only just been released but has anyone got 'LineRender9000' by djigneo yet ?

This looks absolutely fabulous to me and I'm thinking of buying it, what I'd like to know is, do the render settings for this become part of the DAZ render settings, as in, can you select them form the normal pane where you set up renders ? Or does it have to be set from a separate control panel ?

Need some help saving poses for Silent Sally

Hi all. I need some help saving poses for RawArt's awesome Silent Sally and her geograft tentacles. I have tried saving as hierarchical pose presets with G3F selected, but this doesn't do squat for the tentacles. I have tried selecting each tentacle individually and saving poses for each, but that doesn't work either. I have also tried baking tentacle poses to transforms, but that just zeroes them out. Any advice?

I follow the tutorial until I have to apply the shape then I keep getting

"Duplicate IDs where found while reading the file see the log for more details" and then "Failed to access eyebrow node".

Where can i find that log ? How can I get it to work ?

Age of Armour lights? Interjection? PW effects, oh my!

I keep seeing products saying Age of Armour lights are a requirement. What are they? Do they work in Iray? I have only tried a few 3Delight renders and never know which lights to use, is this a product needed for 3Delight? What exactly do they do?

And what is Interjection and PW effects? I bought them on sale quickly before the time was up, not really understanding them, and don't know if I'll have to return them because I'm not sure what they do. Do they work in Iray? Do they make 3Delight look better? My 3Delight renders have usually sucked. Do I need any of these products, do they improve 3Delight and if so, in what scenarios?

Still on the fence about getting Age of Armour Advanced lights. Will it help me as a DS newbie? Why do other products need them? I use almost exclusively Iray but I would like to try 3Delight for less realistic (but well lit) characters and toons that hopefully render faster but don't have to e perfect, I bring everything into Photoshop after.

Waiter Uniform for Genesis 2 Males question

I trust this is the right forum for this question as it's not technical.
When I bought the above product I assumed the boots/shoes were a part of the deal, particularly as I saw "shoe fit" listed re the trousers. A couple of weeks ago I asked the help desk which product the shoes actually are as I can't find anything like them on the site. They've had to email the artist to find out what they are, but they've still not received a reply. They're still on the case - credit to them for that - but they suggested asking in the forum just in case anyone else knows. I've tried other shoes and boots but shoes reveal the waiter not have donned socks, while most boots poke through requiring too wide an adjustment to the trousers, or require post DS4.9 touching up which I'd rather not have to do.

TD3 and Skies of Iradiance problem

In the recent catchup sale I bought Skies of iradiance http://www.daz3d.com/skies-of-iradiance-high-sky-hdri-bundle-for-iray to use with TerraDome 3. However there seems to be a problem and the sky appears very grey when using it in a scene with Atmosphere loaded. The only solution I have found is to either delete Atmosphere or thin it drastically. Oddly I don't seem to have this problem using other HDRIs I have downloaded or those that came with TerraDome 3.

Has anybody else encountered this problem? And is there another way to use Skies of iradiance in TD3 with the atmosphere?

Looking at the promotion images... with VTOL aircraft featured it would seem the roof has opening doors.

Yet, there is no mention of opening roof doors. 12 doors and 2 roof sections are mentioned.

Negotiating VTOL through side (vertical) opening doors would be extremely difficult.

It would be a very dangerous trying to fly an aircraft or helicopter in such environment. .

Then of course the 3d world is mostly fantasy.

The S2 hangar deck really looks terrific, otherwise.

If this pack does have roof opening doors to facilitate VTOL I will buy it, for sure.

Hi,

my guess is that I'm not seeing what I'm looking for and it has an easy solution.. but... yeah, I don't see it... In DS4.8 there was a Tab where all the content that was installed with DazConnect was listed and could be uninstalled... but now that tab is nowhere to be seen.. I see "Available", "Pending" and the green "Install Selected" Button on the Install Tab... Since I'm getting dumb duplicate formulas messages I wanted to clean up... but no luck.

Anyone able to point me to the solution to my problem?
