      <description><![CDATA[<p>For some of my freelance work I&#39;ve been using Vray and Mental Ray for about four years. I&#39;ve also used Daz products exported to 3ds Max for rendering. I used models with custom textures in scenes created in 3ds max.</p>

<p>Today I decided to try IRay inside Daz3d. I&#39;ve been really impressed with some of the renders that I&#39;ve seen and was hoping maybe it could be a time saver. I think it could be, except I cannot get my normal maps to have any effect.</p>

<p>This is what I did- I use Substance Painter 2.3 (just got my 2.5 upgrade today) and used the Daz3d export preset.</p>

<p>Set Base Mixing to PBR Metallicity/Roughness</p>

<p>Metallic----&gt;Metallicity (1.00)</p>

<p>Diffuse Map ---&gt; Base Color (1.00)</p>

<p>Glossiness -----&gt; Glossy Reflectivity (1.00)</p>

<p>Roughness -----&gt; Glossy Roughness (1.00)</p>

<p>Normal ----&gt; Normal Map (1.00)</p>

<p>The color and glossiness came out pretty much exactly that I wanted, but I&nbsp;get nothing from the normal map.</p>

<p>The texture from the normal map should be a spikes, so it&#39;s pretty obvious that I&#39;m not getting anything.</p>

<p>I&#39;ve also tried converting the normal to a greyscale and using it in the bump slot, still nothing.</p>

<p>What am I missing here?</p>

<p>I&#39;m modeling a strap-dress and I need to rig it with G3F already posed. I&nbsp;first modeled&nbsp;it with her in the Null Pose and rigged it with the Transfer Utility, and the elbow,&nbsp;wrist, and thigh straps&nbsp;deformed when I moved her to the dress&#39; basic pose. There was also a lot of poke-through that wasn&#39;t present with her in the Null Pose.</p>

<p>So I exported&nbsp;both&nbsp;the posed G3F and the posed dress&nbsp;from DAZ (as separate objs),&nbsp;imported both into Blender,&nbsp;fixed the poke-through, and reshaped the deformed straps to look right in the dress&#39; basic pose. (Yes, I know I still need to smooth the new mesh. I also need to model the buckles, rings, linking chains, and the skirts that will hang beneath the shoulder and waist straps.)</p>

<p>I updated the geometry of the posed mesh in DAZ, and the straps went to weird places. I deleted the dress and re-imported the posed dress mesh, and it fits fine on G3F in the dress&#39; basic pose, as shown in the renders below. But if I run Transfer Utility with G3F&nbsp;in that pose, again, I get weirdness.</p>

<p>How do I use the Transfer Utility to rig a garment that was modeled to fit G3F already posed? I know it&#39;s possible because artists model shoes to fit G3F with her feet posed, <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tbhf7cwq9hM">as Allen shows in this DAZ tutorial</a>.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Is there a way to list content that isn&#39;t categorized. I&#39;ve had to reinstall all my content, and just realized not all is showing in products, scan results, or lost and found. I can find it in the daz format, but I don&#39;t want to have to go through each and every one to find it.</p>

<p>Has anyone else just had a miserable time with content? Since one of the more recent &quot;improvements&quot; (4.7 or 4.8) I have had more problems with content. I&#39;m to the point I would like to start using a different program. If I had any artistic abilities I would already have changed to Z-Brush or something similar.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Is there a way for DAZ Studio to use DDS files for texture maps to take advantage of its space saving/Mipmap capabilities when calculating VRAM usage? Is the functionality even baked into DAZ&#39;s Iray rendering engine?&nbsp;I can see why game engines would use this sort of texture map for GPU processing&nbsp;savings but I am curious if one shot render workflows&nbsp;like in Studio would minimize the advantages...I would think it would work even better in Studio since we&#39;re not calculating object collisions in addition to&nbsp;light physics like in a regular game engine...</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So I have been reading all over how to find a way to convert V4/M4 poses to G3 M/F figures. The best solution people have come up with is to get the V4 to Genesis and Genesis 2 Converter, use that, and then get the Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 Converter and finish off that way. Everyone is saying it worked perfectly, but I&#39;m getting nothing but error logs back in response to it, which is frustrating after spending the money on it. I am using 4.9. I don&#39;t know if there&#39;s another way to do it or what, but it&#39;s getting frustrating with it happening to every post. The only time it has been working is if I convert a pose that was downloaded and created specifically for Genesis 2 to Genesis 3. If I create a pose on my own for Genesis 2, save it, and then try to convert it to Genesis 3, it doesn&#39;t work. I&#39;m having no issues with Converting V4/M4 to Genesis and Genesis 2. The only issue I&#39;m having is getting Genesis 2 poses to convert to Genesis 3.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I keep having a problem with NVIDIA cards and DAZ; I just got my third one, a Titan X, for use in rendering with Iray. But every time I render with my GPU it errors:</p>

<p>&quot;Display driver stopped responding and recovered / Display driver NIVIDA Windows kernal mode driver version 258.91 stopped responding and has successfully recovered&quot;</p>

<p>I&#39;ve gotten this error for YEARS and yes my DAZ Studio is up to date and so is my graphics driver. I thought updating to more powerful cards would work; I even got a new more powerful power supply too. Also, I have 16 GB of RAM, and my operating System is Windows 7; my processor is an Intel Core i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 2501 Mhz, 4 Core (s), 8 Logical Processor(s).</p>

<p>I had a GTX 960 before this Titan X but both are doing the same thing. I had a GTX 570 with the same problem before that.</p>

<p>This has happened with every version of DAZ Studio I have tried to render with; obviosuly with 3Delight first, and now with Iray. Now, this error does not always happen, but it often does. When it does &quot;recover&quot;, DAZ will continue rendering with the CPU. But if I try to cancel the render, DAZ will completely crash with the following error: &quot;Unable to recover from a kernal exception. The application must close.&quot; I have no clue what this means.</p>

<p>I also have an on-board Intel graphics card that cannot be disabled through the BIOS. This is what DAZ defaults to when the NVIDIA error occurs. It is an Intel HD Graphics 4000; and the only other one of course is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X.</p>

<p>So what&#39;s the issue? It must be DAZ, right? Or something that is not DAZ or the graphics card? Is ANYONE else having this problem at all?</p>

<p>I&#39;m trying to think of what else might be relevant... In the advanced render settings, I have both CPU and TITAN X chosen under both the Photoreal Devices and Interactive Devices categories. OptiX Prime Acceleration is currently checked, but this doesn&#39;t seem to matter whether or not it crashes.</p>

<p>Does anyone think in might be the motherboard itself?</p>

<p>Arun: from the system information report the graphics card and its drivers are being detected correctly<br />
Arun: the driver version seems to be older<br />
Arun: however the onboard Intel graphics adapter is still enabled and could be the major cause of the issue</p>

<p>Arun: you would need to disable the onboard graphics adapter in the BIOS and the Device Manager with the assistance of your motherboard / computer manufacturer before trying to install the add on graphics card and its drivers</p>

<p>But I told him, both drivers are listed as up to date. Now I actually had the Intel card disabled in my Device Manager, but I don&#39;t know... I guess I still need to go into the BIOS; maybe I somehow missed it before. &gt;.&gt;</p>

<p>Then I mentioned this:</p>

<p>DEM: Actually according to my Device Manager, the Intel card was Disabled, not Enabled; do you think that would make a difference? Still go into the bios?<br />
Arun: yes it will make a difference and unless the onboard graphics adapter is disabled in the BIOS and the Device Manager conflicts are expected<br />
Arun: also if it is disabled in the Device Manager, then it would not be detected as enabled in the system information report Arun: it might have some how got enabled when you restart the computer<br />
DEM: odd. Because i just enabled it in the device manager. Well I will try this method. Thank you.</p>

<p>Now, as I was chatting, I opened DAZ again and unchecked the CPU option. Rendered a single charater, no crash. Rendered the scene which has been erroring, and it errored again (and will crash if I cancel the render).</p>

<p>The scene I am trying to do is two Genesis characters a simple rock outcrop. No lights except the IBL environnment.</p>

<p>When I went into the BIOS, we never found theb graphics driver listed (again). We did change the graphics or the monitor to PCI-E but it didn&#39;t change anything; it errored again, so here I am.</p>

However, I import them into my scene, and the lights are everywhere, some in the ground, others way high, other spotlights not even shining on my figure. Am I doing something wrong, or does one just have to move all the lights around and guess where they go? So confused..</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve rendered a few images now and I seem to keep getting a similar issue. Most of my renders seem to have &#39;noise&#39; in them and I don&#39;t get the clean renders that every other image&nbsp;seems to have. In the hands image the noise is in what would be the shadow areas, and on the left hand side of the characters face (his left side!!). It&#39;s really annoying me I can&#39;t get clean looking renders as others seem to.</p>

<p>I am using iRay with, I guess, the default setting. What am I missing? I am new to 3D and Daz but I can&#39;t find any answers to my issue elsewhere online so if anyone can offer me an explaination, I&#39;d be very grateful.</p>

      <title>Daz Axial Rotation Dilemma</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Ok. This is a little odd. I have been playing around with Daz for a couple of years and have not seen this before. I have two parts I imported into Daz that I sculpted in Blender. They are an upper and lower handguard for a rifle I am working on. They match up perfectly. I rotate the lower 180 degrees on the Y axis and it lines up perfectly under the upper as it has symmetry on this plane. I rotate the upper 180 degrees on the Y axis and it does not line up at all. It appears to be translated slightly and not just rotating. If I continue the rotation to 360 degrees it corrects itself and lines up once more. In the past I have rotated these parts and this did not happen.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Some scenes, rooms, etc.; render perfectly. The skin texture is perfect and looks almost like a real photograph. AND, I don&#39;t need to do any work with lighting, etc. Other scenes / rooms render horribly. Even if I use te exact same character in the exact same pose, the character comes out very grainy. Even if I try to adjust the light, they still come out looking awful.</p>

<p>Why?</p>

<p>And is there a way to tell which packages will do what before buying them?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am using Daz Studio 4.8 Pro on Windows 8.</p>

<p>I installed look at my hair and he only thing I can access is the LAMH player only through windows&gt;Panes&gt;look at my hair. The Icon at the top used to launch LAMH Hair Salon that I&#39;ve seen in <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqK0aGcv3Ho&amp;index=2&amp;list=PL_JdHHW5yFwbqeq6aJzKtfEdbpt9k4HY6">this tutorial</a> is missing. I tried loading default city Limits workspace to see if it would appear but it didn&#39;t work.</p>

<p>I did uninstall the free LAMH Player for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit) in the Install manager as in the instructions. The only thing installed when searching for LAMH in the Install Manager is LAMH for DAZ Studio 4.5+(Win 64-Bit).</p>

<p>A cause could be that I might have installed the free player manually a while ago. What do I need to do to manually uninstall if that is the case? I&#39;ve tried installing the free player in the Install Manager then uninstalling to see if I can completely remove it. I also tried deleting &quot;lamhPlayerPlugin.64.dll&quot; in plugins.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hey i have an Strange Problem, when i Export my G3F with Morphs Like Heavy and Weight, it doesnt Bake it Correctly.</p>

<p>That Means in Daz3D It Looks Great,when i Export it into FBX; and Import it into my 3D Programm its Look Like Strange, Its Like The Character is More Heavier .</p>

<p>I Have 10%Weight, and 10% Heavy, (Adjusted Manual) can be that a Problem?, or Why its so Buggy, Never had the Problem before.</p>

<p>and now i Edited the Morph Rules for Bake Weight and Heavy, but still doesnt Work.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have two iMacs, an older 21 inch i5 and a newer 27 inch i7. For obvious reasons, I&#39;d like to use the newer, larger iMac for scene creation and then save the scene and all its assests to a shared network drive and Iray render the scene on the older, smaller iMac. That way, I can continue to work on other scenes while rendering. As it stands now, once I start an Iray render, I can&#39;t do any other work in Studio until the render is complete, which can sometimes take a few hours.</p>

<p>In Poser, there is/was a Python script which would collect all scene assests in a single folder but I no longer use Poser because of Genesis compatibility issues. I&#39;ve yet to find anything similar for Studio. Does such a thing exist that I&#39;m unaware of? This would make using my network to both create and then render scenes much more feasable; create the scene, gather all of its assests data in a single folder along with the Daz scene file, move the folder to a shared drive or perhaps a thumb drive, open and then render the scene on my other iMac.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Any advice?</p>
