Daz Subdragon and SSS Issue

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with the Daz Subdragon and using SSS on the wings in Luxrender?

I am running:

Daz Studio 4.7.0.12 Pro 64bit

Reality 4.3.1.16203
CPU-No Acceleration

Luxrender 1.6.0 Build 16132

When rendering the Daz Subdragon with SSS on the wings, there are black holes in the mesh. These aren't reversed normals, as the wings render fine when SSS is unchecked. There are no alpha maps on the wings. The holes are also present if you use Glossy material and have the Transparency checked, but instead of a black hole it is a bright yellow hole.

I have rendered this scene with just IBL.

I have rendered this scene with just the Sun light.

I have rendered this scene with just a Mesh Light.

Hole is still present in all three situations.

Symmetry in Weight Mapping

Okay. Here's the thing. I start off the weight mapping of my clothes by using the Transfer Utility. It's pretty common sense as it is a massive timesaver, and sometimes the Transfer Utility is all you need.

In other situations, however, I've found that I have to do some touchup afterwards. And that's where I've run into trouble in terms of symmetry.

Now I am aware that there is a symmetry option in the Node Weight Map Brush, and I turned it on while attempted to correct the weight maps. However, I've run into a problem. When I was trying to correct the weight map on the right thigh of an article of clothing, those corrections didn't appear on the left thigh. Now symmetry was on, and I've tested the various axises. Nothing. So how exactly do I get symmetry on opposite bones on a piece of clothing?

Hi.

I've created several morphs (full body) for Genesis 3 but I've found some problems whenever I try to save them as a morph or zero the figures:

1. When I try to ZERO the figure pose the feet are always bent to about 60 degrees, the toes are bent upwards to about 9. I've found out that there's some hidden tiptoe morphs; I could see that morph in the hidden properties tab only so I zeroed it manually and afterwards - because the feet were bent upwards then - I'v zeroed the also. Found that the shins and some other body parts were bend/twisted also (e.g. 0,02 - although I didn't move them) and so I zeroed those also. BUT when I try to apply the zero pose again all body parts are posed again (also the tiptoe morph is active again) How can I clear the pose so it's a correct zero pose?

2. I've tried to export the complete G3 (low res/no subd) as a morphtarget and used the morph loader to apply it as a character morph. Seems to work fine but some add-ons like (e.g.) "Oh my lashes" won't accept that morph and their geometry is broken. That is because there are no ERC-parameters in the sub-components tab of the prop

3. So I've tried to save the (manually zeroed) character as a morph asset - but after that I couldn't figuer out how to find or use that morph? Is there a special location where I can dind ist? And if, how do I use it?

4. Saved the character as a character preset in DS. I can see that preset in the conntent library but when I try to load it or to apply it on a G3 it starts loading for a long time. 5 minutes. 10 minutes. 15 minutes. Nothing (DAZ ist still reading the file)

Any help would be appreciated.

this may be slightly off topic as it is not strictly DAZ only but it does effect Daz.

I wish to know if anyone who uses Daz3d and a mixture of other softwares (such as Mixamo, blender, fuse etc.) could tell me how if possible i can use Daz studio characters of any type to then animate in Mixamo and go back into Daz, the best results i can get are the characters working in Mixamo as an OBJ but then if i try to reintroduce them into Daz the Animation is broken. the main issue being that the skeleton from DAZ (namely GEN3) is far too complex for Mixamo to auto rig or manual rig and the mixamo skeleton is so limited it keeps the model In tpose instead of moving around correctly. (still trying to get a reply on this from Mixamo's end as well but i don't beleive they are going to respond).
In blender the animation works but the skeleton is not connected to the mesh for whatever reason. if i could somehow make all my models have more basic simple skeletons without causing all the Daz studio poses i have to break that could possibly fix it however i haven't found a way to do this as i am not a pro at 3d software.

I would like to animate the fat in a nice way, and having at least 3 additional bones for that would be necessary. I don't have any experience with adding bones and painting weights for it, so I thought I might just ask.

Here is a video of the animation that I would like to do with G2 and additional bones:

As I already wrote in the title... Someone tried to do something similar?
I can't use Genesis 3 because of their broken IKs but I love the look given by the peach skin!

According to the product page, this should have morphs that alter the size and shape of the hair style, but I can't find them under the Shaping tab, or any poses under the Posing tab.

Can anyone tell me where I should be looking? Or if the product is incomplete maybe?

Hi, I wondered if someone could point me to a step by step for this - if it's possible in Studio.

Basically I'd like to take a head and neck from a character and delete the rest of it

I take it that I :

export it as eg an obj

then bring it back in to Daz Studio and

transfer the rigging and morphs back to this reduced OBJ from the original figure.

I used to do it in Poser but not sure how to do it in Studio.

thanks in advance :)

Canvas Renders Causing VRAM Shortage

The past few days I have noticed a bit of a trend. I can render over and over with no problem, unless I am using the canvases feature. When I am using canvases, I can render 2, maybe 3 times, then it will always kick back to CPU rendering until I close studio and reopen it. Rather annoying when the scene takes 5 minutes to save, and another 5 minutes to open(scene size is 2 gigs on disk). Anyone else notice the same thing? I am not keeping old renders open. Not really sure why it's so huge, it's only two dressed girls with hair and 3 rather simple scene props lol.

Oh, I am running a gtx 1070 for reference. The temps on my GPU never go above 65, CPU never goes above 75, so I don't think it's the hardware.

I save a properties preset and chose my respective nodes for the morph and the pose.

I open a new file and load the model, then merge file and choose my saved preset file.

The pose loads as expected, but the morph does not.

Drilling down to my custom morph, I see it is not there.

I'm stumped. How do I load a custom morph dial reliably into a new scene?

Feet on all my models will poke through nearly every shoe item I own. I need help fixing this:

specific example: OOT Open Toe Pumps for G3F on Victoria 7; the open toe portion is fine, but two toes stick out the inside of the shoe just behind the cut out toe of the shoe.

I have tried the following: turning off auto fit - shoes end up someplace other than the feet. Increasing the number of fit iterations to a high number and waiting... zero change

changing V7 foot size. auto fit follows the change so the problem remains, with auto fit off - bye bye shoes.

With this type of shoe, turning off V7's toes won't work because you are supposed to see the toes in an open toe shoe!

NOTE: the above is just ONE EXAMPLE of a problem I have with most shoes in my runtime, it is not OOT's fault. It is some trick I don't understand how to accompllish.

thanks

Hi, I want to do some very basic human figure posing. what are the best ways to minimize features so that my i7 laptop with 10 gb of RAM can accomplish this? I used poser years ago, and you could "dumb down" a lot of the details with it, but haven't found a similar way to decrease system demand.
