Hello Daz Community! Couldn't live with out ya! :)

I'm trying to install content from an old .exe daz set up installer. The installation runs fine automatically, but the content can't be found or seen in the Daz program...

I've tried with multiple other .exe daz set up installers for other content and the same thing happens. Might it be installing in the wrong directory? Is the .exe too old to work with Daz 4.9? Any info would be greatly appreciated! :/

Hello

I'm relatively new to DAZ and I just found out about D-Formers. To me, it looks like they only transform well if they are parented to the root of a figure: if they are parented to the bone, the transform breaks as soon as the figure is moved away from the origin. Here's what I'm doing, step by step:

1. Create a D-Former, position it, create the weight map, delete the D-former field. Parent the D-former to the Head bone of the figure in this case:

2. Move the D-former:

3. Now, rotate the Hip of the figure by 90 degrees and watch how the D-Former follows well; but the transform gets squashed:

4. If, instead of parenting the D-Former to the Head bone, we parent it to the base of the figure, we can then rotate the Hip and the transform will follow correctly; but the D-Former will stay in its original zero-pose:

5. Moving the D-former along its axis will apply the right transformation; but it is rather inconvenient to have the D-Former at the origin while the figure itself could be anywhere else:

Am I doing something wrong here, or is this just the way D-Formers work right now? I'm running DAZ 4.9, which I believe is the latest version.

Hi,
Any suggestions on how to achive the look of the backdrop renders in the *original* Syberia 2.5D game?
Here is a link to screenshots for those not familiar with that game, or simply don't remember the look.

The images have an almost dreamlike quality to them, somewhat handdrawn.
So far I have only been doing photorealistic iRay renders, and I'm wondering if that Syberia look can be done in DAZ, or at least by altering DAZ renders in a 3rd party application?
Is it mostly a matter of using the apropriate shaders in DAZ?

I'm not new to CGI, but programs have evolved a lot over the years and I can't think of a way to render a 3D scene with a look like that.
Any thoughts?

Thanks
Kay

That was strange. Out of the vlue, withj nothing having happened beyond normal computer pwer-down/power-up, DS suddenly requested I login to my DAZ account (despite me having selected the 'never do this' option) and some (not all) plug-in regit=stration (DCC, Measure Metrics, ANimate 2, Gen X 2) had vanished.

Oh, Win 7, 64-bit, DS 4.9.3.166

Mirroring JCMs

I've been following Esha's refined rigging tutorial to wrap my head around creating JCMs and creating morphs for tricky areas. I've had a few rough spots, but found ways to overcome them, but now I'm stuck on mirroring JCMs. Either I'm missing something or Esha forgot to outline one final step after mirroring the morphs. What I end up with is a JMC that overrides it's mirror, which in a lot of situations is going to end real bad.

First of all, yes I know this is a horrible fix morph. Right now I'm testing out the work flow start to finish, as I just got finished making a beautiful fix morph that made the gemetry explode (no I didn't weld or delete anything). Originally I have the morph applied to the left side. Works fine, but when I mirror the morph it does this, overriding the left.

I recently played with the attenuation settings and found that I can use weight maps to define the strength of the morph (which is cool), but found that this offers only a partial solution in this case. Is there another way to do this?

I recently suffered a computer crash and lost my main hard drive data. My runtimes were all stored on externals as were the saved files from the various projects that I have done over the years. The only content that I am certain of losing were the files associated with DAZ that *must* be stored/saved/installed on the main hard drive with the program.

That said - I have my computer back up and running again, have reinstalled DS - but when opening my saved files, they load empty and I receive an error message.

I know there is a way to restore them, but I can't remember what the process is.

Many of these files are from projects that I have been working on for many years now (since DS1, transferred, updated, etc, etc) and are part of a commercial project that I can in no way rebuild from scratch at this point. Any help refreshing my memory to get these back to working order (and I know this isn't a simple process, I just can't for the life of me remember how to do it), I would be eternally grateful.

I have noticed that a lot of light presets from the store use grey (128,128,128) for the color and a high intensity.

What is the purpose of using grey instead of white with a lower intensity? I am using 3Delight.
