      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;ve been having a lot of trouble with Daz when I try to use Genesis 2 clothing on a Genesis 3 figure. If I try to select the type of clothing in auto-fit (footware, shirts, pants, etc.), the program will suddenly crash. If I leave the selection at &quot;none&quot; the clothing will work ok, but then if I save and quit and then reload the scene all of the clothes become severely warped and corrupted.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I wanted to check with the experts. &nbsp;I think I may be storing my content redundantly in two locations. &nbsp;I normally use the smart content manager to download my content, but I do us DIM from time to time. &nbsp;DAZ is consuming about 500 gig on my hard drive. &nbsp;Can you look at my settings and tell me if I am installing the same content in two different locations. &nbsp;Is it safe to move all my content to my user profile and take all of it out of the public profile. &nbsp;No one else uses this computer anyways - there shouldn&#39;t be a need for storing conent in the &#39;public&#39; folder as far as I know.</p>

<p>I&#39;m a very long user of Vue (eon software) landscaping program. Plants and terrains are infinitely better to what is available in Daz3d (or poser) and the instancing system is really great, even though the renderer is awfully slow and aging.</p>

<p>I&#39;m trying to import genesis figures as &quot;obj&quot; files.</p>

<p>The material conversion from Iray to vue is still a mystery to me :</p>

<p>Color, Transparency, Reflection and Bump maps are relatively simple ; but, I&#39;m trying out to understand what are equivalents to :</p>

<p>Displacement : Normal map ???</p>

<p>Highlight : specularity ??</p>

<p>Alpha (what&#39;s the difference with transparency ?)</p>

<p>Scattering : Sub surface scattering ???</p>

<p>And I think there are differences linked to scale : kilometers for vue and inches for Daz3d</p>

<p>Could somebody try to explain these points or give me a link to a tutorial ?</p>

<p>I start DAZStudio but it doesnt apear but I check on TaskMgr and it is listed as running (no error messages).</p>

<p>I set it to high priority but no effect.</p>

<p>The only solution is to reboot the machine (NOT a real solution)</p>

<p>My system has plenty of capacity to run this app:</p>

<p>&nbsp; Two Zeons (16 cores)</p>

<p>&nbsp; 32gig ram</p>

<p>&nbsp; Win64bit</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I randomly got this new weird thing going on... When I save a character preset, for some reason its saving scenes into my character preset. So when people load the figure it&#39;s asking for a scene that I don&#39;t even have anymore and the load time on the Genesis takes for freaking ever.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I am not much of a coder. I know exactly enough&nbsp;to be dangerous. I was wondering if it was possible to call, list, send to variable, modify, etc ERC data held in a property&nbsp;with a script.<br />
<br />
I&#39;ve seen wonderul examples that tell me it is possible to straight up create a morph from a script. I gather from the documentation, as hard as it is read, it is possible to read and set a whole range of data to a property, from authorship down to property group and region.<br />
<br />
What methods I&#39;ve seen in the documentation that seem to copy properties wholesale state they don&#39;t read ERC links, and I&#39;m wondering if that&#39;s just because Daz script can&#39;t do that. I also seem to recall there was a thread on here where there was a command given that made studio list all of the methods Daz Script has, but I can&#39;t find the thread. could anyone point that out to me?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m trying to learn something very difficult. I&#39;m trying to animate a minotaur stomping up some stairs.</p>

<p>What I did was to pose the character with his feet placed as if climbing the stairs, and save that as a pose preset. Then I mirrored the pose and saved it as a second pose preset. Finally, I added a non-essential character to my scene and made keyframes of her gliding to and up the stairs, in order to gauge where the minotaur should be at any time. I found the points she glided to where he should look like the poses I saved, and in each of those frames I positioned the minotaur and applied the proper preset. Now all the remains is to tweak the tweening! It sounds so simple...</p>

<p>So&nbsp;here&#39;s my problem: When the character gets to each of those frames I made, the pose he is in is exactly the pose I want. I don&#39;t want interpolation to mess with it as I make tweaks to frames before or after it. Right now it seems every frame messes with every other frame as I go in to correct foot slide and placement. It&#39;s like trying to mold Jell-O using one finger: every press <em>here </em>changes something <em>there</em>.</p>

<p>Is there any way to make a keyframe that applies to all a character&#39;s parameters at once, whether they have been edited or not? That&#39;s what I really need on these poses, keyframes for all parameters on all bones, so that if I have frames A, B, and C, I can lock down everything in frame B to keep interpolation from screwing it up as I tweak A or C.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a simple scene. One figure with clothes, hair, and a pair of wings. Three basic spotlights setup in a Main, Fill, Key configuration. When I render using 3Delight, it starts rendering as normal, does several buckets in the middle of the image (using spiral). Then, around 45 seconds into the render it will pause. Nothing is getting rendered at all. If I let it sit, then around 10-11 minutes later it starts rendering again and the whole thing finishes less than 4 minutes later.</p>

<p>I just built this machine last winter so I&#39;m sure it isn&#39;t the computer causing the delay. I&#39;ve tried removing the wings and other items, but nothing seems to make a difference. There&#39;s a long pause for nothing and then the render finishes relatively quickly. I&#39;m stumped.</p>

<p>The log file seems to tell me nothing...</p>

<p>1. I load a vendor figure.</p>

<p>2. I use morphs on the vendor figure. Call these &ldquo;Morph Set A&rdquo;.</p>

<p>3. I want more changes. So I export and change the figure in an external sculpter (Blender).</p>

<p>4. The difference between &ldquo;Morph Set A&rdquo; and this new shape I made in Blender I will call &ldquo;Morph Set B&rdquo;.</p>

<p>5. I import the new shape back into DS as a morph.</p>

<p>6. I apply the new morph to the figure.</p>

<p>7. The morph slider over-effects the figure, applying both &ldquo;Morph Set A&rdquo; and &ldquo;Morph Set B&rdquo;, meaning I get the effect of &ldquo;Morph Set A&rdquo; re-applied to the figure that already has &ldquo;Morph Set A&rdquo; applied to it.</p>

<p>QUESTION:</p>

<p>So. How do I get my custom morph to apply only &ldquo;Morph Set B&rdquo; to my figure that already has &ldquo;Morph Set A&rdquo; applied to it?</p>

<p>I watched a YouTube tutorial video a few days ago (before I discovered this problem) where someone mentioned a setting called &ldquo;Deltas Only&rdquo; having something to do with making morphs for previously morphed figures. I have since then lost that video.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>So when I render in 3delight using Age of Armour&#39;s depth camera, it seems to take opacity into account, but Iray&#39;s depth canvas doesn&#39;t. So that means when I import into photoshop and use the depth map to apply fog, iray&#39;s version is blocky around trees and hair where as AOA&#39;s isn&#39;t. Is there a way to get Iray to take Opacity into account as well?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all,&nbsp;</p>

<p>I am an avid user but not very experienced in all the settings. I use Daz 4.9 Iray on default settings and usually change my F-stop to F8 or 9, &nbsp;my ratio to 1:1 or custom,&nbsp;and render at 2000x2000 pixel dimensions and above. I use the &quot;sun and sky &quot; mode to get some tonality and shadows on image. Render quality is on 3 and adjust my exposure mainly to brighten up images. I have even tried adjusting light quality from default setting of 512 to 1000 and that doesnt seem to do anything either. Unfortunately&nbsp;my renders never look very sharp.</p>

<p>PS: One more question if possible. Why is it when I go to the lights setting and add a light then go to adjust brightness and width and height etc...nothing happens? It all looks as before.</p>

<p>Is there a more in depth manual that can explain all the functions available in daz that I can read?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>DAZ has really been killing it with the great sales recently. I picked up Minotaur 6 HD, my only Genesis 2 character, and the Orestes Triskele Falls HDRIs. Then by coincidence I used them together and found a strange issue I can&#39;t explain. It&#39;s as if Iray doesn&#39;t like it when some of these items get used together--even if I use the Iray Uber Shader on all the Minotaur&#39;s surfaces.</p>

<p>Before I describe the problem, let me note that I already uninstalled the minotaur, deleted the package, then redownloaded and reinstalled it, just to make sure there was no corruption in the original install process.</p>

<p>I&#39;m using DS 4.9.3.166 Pro 64-bit edition.</p>

<p>Here are my steps to recreate the issue:</p>

<p>1. Open DS and find and double-click on the Triskele Falls 01 HDRI.&nbsp;<br />
2. Double-click on Minotaur 06 HD.&nbsp;<br />
3. Change to Iray Preview and zoom in to look at his right pectoral.</p>

<p>As you can see in the Minotaur 01 image, shadows reveal hard edges instead of smooth curves on his body, and there is an area on the pec where textures don&#39;t &quot;stick.&quot; It appears as if some part of another, unsubdivided model is sticking out through his body, but there are no other objects in my scene. My first screenshot shows an Iray preview, so I&#39;ve included Minotaur 02 so you can see the problem appears in an actual render, as well.</p>

<p>Loading a new texture doesn&#39;t help. In Minotaur 03, you can see I&#39;ve applied the Asterion texture, but the buggy area is still there.</p>

<p>What does help is to change the figure&#39;s subdivision level. In Minotaur 04, I reduced it to 0. (The figure preset defaults to 1.) The messed up area now appears to be just a stretch mark, and it accepts textures. However, the skin shows more hard angles.</p>

<p>The problem area also mostly goes away if you increase the subdivision level to 2. The buggy part reduces to one triangle-shaped notch that&#39;s barely noticeable. This is shown in Minotaur 05, but here I had to add an extra spotlight to brighten the shadows enough for us to see that the texture is applied.</p>

<p>What boggles me is that the default subdivision level of 1 works just fine if I start DS and load the minotaur by itself or when I use other HDRIs. If the HDRI is Triskele Falls 03 (see Minotaur 06), this area of the skin looks different: instead of looking like naked, untextured faces, it looks like a patch of skin copied from somewhere else. But if the HDRI is Triskele Falls 05 (see Minotaur 07), the skin looks perfect.</p>

<p>I included Minotaur 08 to show&nbsp;that switching back to Triskele Falls 01 causes the buggy area to reappear.</p>

<p>Finally, I used the Surfaces pane to switch to the Iray Uber Shader for all surfaces on the Minotaur model and added Minotaur 09 and Minotaur 10 to demonstrate that using all Iray shaders doesn&#39;t help.</p>

<p>How is it that an HDRI preset&#39;s render settings can mess up the UV textures on a model???</p>

<p>I downloaded a 3rd party hair style and I am having trouble importing it to DAz studio. I&#39;ll preface this by saying I am a beginner with Daz studio. I am using Daz 4.9.&nbsp; The hairstyle I downloaded is a zipped file, when unzipped it countain a single folder called &#39;Runtime&#39;, with several subfolders. I belive this has to be installed manually? (Copy the files manually to some Daz directory)&nbsp; Does anyone&nbsp; know the correct Daz directory to copy it to?<br />
AND do I copy the Runtime folder in its entirety into the DAz directory? Or do I open each subfolder under Runtime, and then copy every individual file somewhere into the Daz directory? If you could point me to a tutorial i would apprect it.</p>

<p>Otherwise the shader is awesome. We have so much more control over the skin now and&nbsp;blemishes/pores dont fade if the SSS is high.&nbsp;</p>
